UW Law School mandates DEI ‘re-orientation’!
You come here thinking like a lawyer and you will leave with a head full of mush.’ — What professor Kingsfield might say today.
Never thought the Policy Werkes would spray salty tears for lawyers but someone, please send thoughts and prayers to the first-year law students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. These wretches are this very 19th day of January, anno domini 2024, enduring diversity, equity, and inclusion boot camp. No doubt in unheated barracks protected by ideological razor wire, a-WOKEn by searchlights, forced to confess their deviations from party orthodoxy.
The law school doesn’t call this mandatory exercise “re-education,” but its assistant dean for student affairs (DEI bureaucrats multiply like skin rash at a coed dorm) comes close. “Re-Orientation is intended to do just that – re-orient you now that you have your first semester of law school behind you and a new semester ahead,” declares Lauren L. Devine, doctor of critical race law.

The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty demands that the Law School cease and desist.
This “DEI training” is a form of indoctrination and demeans law students based on their race. WILL strongly condemns this meeting’s proposed subject matter and demands that any racially discriminatory instruction be removed. By pushing racist ideology on law students, the University is defying federal law, creating a racially hostile environment, and harming individual student dignity.
— Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty
WILL summarizes the law school program’s “racist view of the world” and its propagation “of harmful racial stereotypes:”
- Only white people can be racist.
- Advocating for a “colorblind” society is racist and “negates” the “experiences of people of color.”
- It is racist to attack affirmative action.
- All white people experience “privilege based on your white skin color. You benefit from this system of oppression and advantage no matter what your intentions are.”
- White people have a “fear of people of color and what would happen if they gained control.”
- White people all are infected with “whiteness,” “white guilt,” “denial,” “fear,” and “privilege.” Ridding white people of “racist conditioning” “will never happen.”
- “There are no exceptional white people” such that all are tainted by skin color.
- “All white people are the “beneficiaries of racism and white privilege.”
- White people should never talk about their “own story of hardship” because it “diminishes the experiences of people of color.”
- All white people “attempt to excuse, defend or cover up racist actions of other white people.”
Speaker Vos, call your office!
Do not, future barrister, say: “People are people. I just don’t see color; we’re all just human.” For you will be overruled, gaveled down, reversed on appeal. Denied your law degree. The “re-orientation” corrects the errant litigator thusly:
Statements like these assume that people of color are just like you — white; that they have the same dreams, standards, problems, and pet peeves as you. “Color-blindness” negates the cultural values, norms, expectations, and life experiences of people of color. … By saying you don’t see color, you are also saying you don’t see your whiteness.”

Did you ever see anything so stereotypically racist?

It’d be a shame if one of these enterprising 1st year law students were to file a federal civil rights lawsuit. What kind of damages might they get awarded?
They’d probably never make it to “2nd year law student.”
The examples of this backward and mentally cancerous thinking are getting more bizarre all the time. The worst one I heard about recently happened at some posh art exhibit in New York. Apparently, a black woman asked a white woman if she had something stuck in her teeth and then threw a fit when the white woman responded with “No, your teeth are white and beautiful.”
It is not all despair though. I am also reading more examples of universities and other tax-funded organizations quietly abandoning and, more rarely, loudly renouncing DEI. Sometimes they do it on their own, and sometimes it’s legislative or taxpayer pressure. There is definitely a wave rising against this buffoonery, but it hasn’t crested yet.

Gasp; that mean that Sgt. Hulka (Warren Oates in Stripes) was/is RAYcist…

Ahh yes; today’s outrage Du Jour.
You’re O.K. with it?
What I say will mean nothing here. I’m the lone liberal in a sea of conservative nonsense. And it gets worse; movie quotes from crotch.
True liberals do not support racism in any form.

I was struck by how many times the phrase “ALL white people” appears. Imagine what would happen if one of these hapless law students were caught saying “ALL black people,” or “ALL Asian people,” or “ALL Hispanic people.” Being racist is the one (potential) characteristic ALL these groups share, like it or not.

I notice RVTL.. never answered the question.
no I don’t. But white nationalists are building a “haven” in rural Kentucky as we speak. Looks like they are really proud about it too.
Answer the question, Dick.
