Who tried to kill the police critic ‘Shady’?

Blames ‘angry white supremacists’

Was someone trying to kill Shadayra Kilfoy-Flores? Or was she just in the wrong place at the wrong time — that being the streets of Madison WI after midnight?

Madison police say that a half-hour after midnight Thursday 10-05-23 “a vehicle being driven on Williamson Street appeared to have been targeted by the occupant(s) of another vehicle” driving outbound on Willy Street. The car was hit multiple times. Police are not identifying the driver but Kilfoy-Flores says she is “the survivor of a drive by shooting.” She reports hearing six shots; says police found four spent bullets in her vehicle, which she says is totally destroyed.

Nicknamed “Shady” by her acquaintances, Kilfoy-Flores is the chairman of the Police Civilian Oversight Board. That was formed to second-guess police in the wake of the Tony Robinson Jr. shooting eight years ago. It has had no cases of police misconduct referred to it in the agency’s three years. With Robinson’s grandmother, she also brought charges to the Police and Fire Commission against then police chief Mike Koval, alleging the chief was disrespectful.

She blames white supremacists but thanks police for being “very helpful.”

The progressive activist put up this Go Fund Me appeal (slightly abridged):

Wednesday evening my daughter … and I graduated from the Madison Black Chamber of Commerce Incubator program for entrepreneurs. We went out for a late dinner to celebrate and drove separately. On my way home a large black truck, Escalade or Tahoe, came up behind me really fast going east on Williamson St. They tried to pass me in the incoming lane near the gas station after Ingersoll but couldn’t due to the islands by the Few St intersection.

As I turned left onto Few St. they started shooting at me. The first shot made me hit my brakes. I wasn’t sure if it was my tire.

Then they kept shooting and shooting and shooting and shooting AND SHOOTING. It took a second to figured out what was happening. All of my windows were shot out and there were sparks flying from the bullets. I crouched down and drove as fast as I could down Few St. as the black truck continued down Williamson St.

Then parked and ran to a neighbors. I didn’t know if the shooter/s would back up or come around the corner to try to finish me off?! I’d like to think this was an extreme case of road rage but it felt much more than just some warning shots. Someone actually tried to kill me.

I can’t help but be slightly paranoid thinking to possibly shut me up. I am after all the chair of Madison’s Police Civilian Oversight Board and have been a target for a number of angry white supremacists.

I'm not going to shut up. I'm going to keep up the good fight I was meant to fight.
— Shadayra Kilfoy-Flores Go Fund Me

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Also this week, a nut case went gunning for Wisconsin’s Democrat(ic) governor, who wasn’t in the Capitol. Does not sound particularly MAGA. Said his beef was “domestic abuse towards men.”

” ‘domestic abuse towards men.’ “

Does he have a point? Not the way to make it, but he sure does.

For anyone wondering why the “Violence Against Women Act” is not called the Violence Against Humans Act; wonder no more

Excerpted from article by X-Chromosomal Unit Family Law/Divorce Attorney Lisa Scott (bolds/caps/italics mine throughout):
“For years, we have been told that domestic violence is a serious problem: it must not be tolerated in any form and every victim must be believed. Yet, countless victims of domestic violence are ignored by the system, dismissed as liars, and even charged as abusers. These victims have been hit, kicked, punched, bitten, choked, knifed, shot, run over with cars, and even set on fire. THEY ARE MEN.

“Male victim. It’s sounds like an oxymoron. How can you be a male and a victim. Is it because they don’t hurt when they are hit? Is it because they don’t bleed when they are cut? No. It’s because they don’t count, literally.

“Over the years, intense lobbying by women’s advocacy groups resulted in enactment of the Federal Violence Against Women Act. The act provides billions of dollars for domestic violence programs, battered women’s shelters, law enforcement and criminal prosecution. To aid in passage of the bill and ensure a continued stream of federal funding, these groups have deftly perpetuated MYTHS that nearly all victims of domestic violence are female. They claim ‘the No. 1 reason women age 16 to 40 end up in the emergency room is violence,’ and ’95 percent of domestic violence is committed by men.’

“However, both government and academic studies repeatedly contradict these ubiquitous factoids. A Centers for Disease Control report (National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey: 1992 Emergency Department Summary) debunks the ER claim. The 1998 Justice Department report ‘Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)’ refutes the 95 percent claim: of 1,830 domestic violence murders, 510, or almost one third, were men. Another 1998 Justice Department report, ‘Violence Against Women Survey,’ found that while 1,309,061 women experienced domestic violence, 834,732 men were also abused — 39 PERCENT OF ALL VICTIMS.

“Extensive research documents that men and women are almost equally likely to initiate domestic violence. And, despite clear evidence that both men and women suffer domestic violence, THE FEDERAL ACT REMAINS BLATANTLY GENDER-BIASED. The principle reason male victims are ignored is that NO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN CAN BE USED FOR MALE VICTIMS. Police and prosecutors who spend time on male victims of female violence suffer a double whammy: they directly expend scarce resources on the cases, and they lose additional funding because for every such male victim there is one less female victim for which federal money is exclusively earmarked.

“When men report an IPV crime, they are victimized a second time by law enforcement with indifference and ridicule at best, and being charged as the ‘real abuser’ at worst.”

Lefty, big on victimhoodie when it’s the RIGHT kinda victim, has made certain that this problem stays hidden in plain sight.

Someone smarter than her (no great accomplishment, that!) provided sound counsel that were she to push it, sooner or later the real truth would surface.

Sigh; the supply of RAYcism ever lags the demand, and the balance must be manufactured; to wit:

Über Lefty Bill Maher positively TORCHES Hate Crime Hoaxer Hasan Minhaj, (“the comedian who answers the question, ‘What if Jussie Smollett did stand-up?’ “) who was forced to admit to being a lying scumbag.

Maybe a march on the state capital is in order to put tougher state laws on the books to combat domestic abuse of men. I’m sure that the gop super majority can get that done without a problem.

    1. nemoofthenorth Avatar
      nemoofthenorth

We already have laws on the books to protect both genders in the case of domestic abuse. The issue here is two fold. Abused men are usually too embarrassed to come forward. The other problem is more societal; Wisconsin voters tend to put these horrible, husband abusing women on their Supreme Court. I’m not sure there is a solution to this problem, but there’s a weird symmetry having a shirtless Bernie Bro trying to impose his solution on us while armed (twice in the same day!)

Greetings Paula! The clever and gracious Gotch beat me to a link. I hope that will suffice to answer your first and second questions, tho with your second interrogative, I think it would be more accurate to use the term “support” rather than “prove”. Without an actual confession, proving anything can be impossible depending on the population of the jury. As for the “real issue”, I resent jurists of both genders that substitute the Rule of Man for the Rule of Law.

Postscript: And then there’s former WI Supreme Court Justice David Prosser who had a history of threatening and abusive behavior towards female Justices Ann Bradley and deceased Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson while on the bench. He is now an assistant to Robin Vos in the WI Assembly. Maybe he’ll get a chance to squeeze the neck of Justice Janet Protasiewicz, like he did with Justice Ann Walsh Bradley in 2011.

There another side to that Prosser-Bradley cage match?

Why yes, yes, there IS another side to that Prosser-Bradley cage match!

From wiki: “According to other anonymous sources, Bradley attacked Prosser. ‘She charged him with fists raised,” the anonymous source said. Prosser “put his hands in a defensive posture,” the anonymous source said. “He blocked her.” (bolds/caps mine)

Nemo: I appreciate your refreshingly direct response to my question. And yes, “support” would have been a better word to use than “prove”.

Speaking of Hillary C., I read somewhere (no, I can’t provide a link, touche to me) that she once threw a lamp at Bill during a quarrel while they were White House tenants. Hope it wasn’t an antique. Hope Socks the cat got out of the way. He was the only real independent in the Clinton administration.

        1. Paula Dent Avatar
          Paula Dent

Gotch: I do not believe all women or men all of the time. Justice Bradley denied rushing Prosser with “raised fists”. Claims she merely faced him, pointed to the door, and said, “Buddy, get out of my office.” Abrahamson corroborated. This, according to a JournalSentinel article on Aug 26, 2011. It’s been too long for anyone to know what happened in that suite of offices.

I do believe, however, that Hillary threw a lamp at Bill, possibly after learning of his latest dalliance.
