Shadayra Kilfoy-Flores survives Willy Street drive-by shooting!
Blames ‘angry white supremacists’
Was someone trying to kill Shadayra Kilfoy-Flores? Or was she just in the wrong place at the wrong time — that being the streets of Madison WI after midnight?
Madison police say that a half-hour after midnight Thursday 10-05-23 “a vehicle being driven on Williamson Street appeared to have been targeted by the occupant(s) of another vehicle” driving outbound on Willy Street. The car was hit multiple times. Police are not identifying the driver but Kilfoy-Flores says she is “the survivor of a drive by shooting.” She reports hearing six shots; says police found four spent bullets in her vehicle, which she says is totally destroyed.
Nicknamed “Shady” by her acquaintances, Kilfoy-Flores is the chairman of the Police Civilian Oversight Board. That was formed to second-guess police in the wake of the Tony Robinson Jr. shooting eight years ago. It has had no cases of police misconduct referred to it in the agency’s three years. With Robinson’s grandmother, she also brought charges to the Police and Fire Commission against then police chief Mike Koval, alleging the chief was disrespectful.
She blames white supremacists but thanks police for being “very helpful.”

The progressive activist put up this Go Fund Me appeal (slightly abridged):
Wednesday evening my daughter … and I graduated from the Madison Black Chamber of Commerce Incubator program for entrepreneurs. We went out for a late dinner to celebrate and drove separately. On my way home a large black truck, Escalade or Tahoe, came up behind me really fast going east on Williamson St. They tried to pass me in the incoming lane near the gas station after Ingersoll but couldn’t due to the islands by the Few St intersection.
As I turned left onto Few St. they started shooting at me. The first shot made me hit my brakes. I wasn’t sure if it was my tire.
Then they kept shooting and shooting and shooting and shooting AND SHOOTING. It took a second to figured out what was happening. All of my windows were shot out and there were sparks flying from the bullets. I crouched down and drove as fast as I could down Few St. as the black truck continued down Williamson St.
Then parked and ran to a neighbors. I didn’t know if the shooter/s would back up or come around the corner to try to finish me off?! I’d like to think this was an extreme case of road rage but it felt much more than just some warning shots. Someone actually tried to kill me.
I can’t help but be slightly paranoid thinking to possibly shut me up. I am after all the chair of Madison’s Police Civilian Oversight Board and have been a target for a number of angry white supremacists.
I'm not going to shut up. I'm going to keep up the good fight I was meant to fight.— Shadayra Kilfoy-Flores Go Fund Me
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Also this week, a nut case went gunning for Wisconsin’s Democrat(ic) governor, who wasn’t in the Capitol. Does not sound particularly MAGA. Said his beef was “domestic abuse towards men.”

Interesting that the intersection in question has no traffic cameras that I can see. I wonder if any of the businesses have security recordings.
