When they say it is not a quota

Most of our news media went Woke about the time Lil’ Abner disappeared from the comic pages. Before Alec Baldwin, Budweiser, Disney, the public schools, the Democrat(ic) party, Madison WI, and the entire state of California became politically correct, the news media endeavored to prove it was more kumbaya than the autoharp player at a Greenwich Village coffee house.

The U.S. Supreme Court crimped identity politics this summer when it shut down race-based affirmative action in higher education. No never mind. Progressive bean counters continue to sort out on their social justice abacus(es) the BIPOC, LGBTQ+, differently abled, immigrant, religious minority, rich and poor — all in the name of diversity, equity, and inclusion. (Whew! Thought that sentence would never end!)

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel admits as much, albeit obliquely. Wisconsin’s leading newspaper announced today it is conducting what it calls a “source audit.”

Weasel words for “quota.”

“This is not a quota system,” executive editor Greg Borowski counters.

“It essentially means we’re keeping better tabs on the people we’re talking to … and whose stories we’re telling, reporter JR Radcliffe argues.

QUOTA!

The software the Milwaukee newspaper uses to “track and improve the diversity of sources in your news stories.” What does the icon tell you?

“This is about doing quality journalism,” editor Borowski insists. “Being the community’s newsroom means seeking out views and voices we don’t normally hear from. It means talking to people affected by decisions, not just those making them. It means looking at how programs and policies play out in real life, not just in committee meetings or political debates. It means telling stories that reflect the fullness of life in our community.”

QUOTA!

“Basically, each reporter is charged with gathering some basic biographical information (age, race, gender, “official” or “non-official” capacity) every time we do a story,” reporter Radcliffe acknowledges. Ahh! Now we’re getting warm!

Let’s put it this way: why track any number — sales figures, traffic stops, baseball earned runs — if you’re not going to measure success or failure? That requires setting a threshold number to determine what constitutes success, what defines failure. That report you wrote on Harley Davidson sales figures, why did you not quote any black or disabled people? That Brewers backgrounder: why so many hispanic voices and not enough indigenous? Women make up 51% of the population but only 49% of the sources we quoted systemwide in the third quarter. We must do better!

Editor Borowski admits as much:

“We began this in June and will continue at least until the end of the year. Once we get a baseline starting point, we’ll set some goals – and we’ll let you know how we are doing along the way.”

“Goals”? A euphemism for

QUOTA!

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Woe be to any disproportionality!

Similarly, I expect the Milwaukee edition of USA Today (f/k/a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) will do a “consumption audit” similar to their “source audit” and make sure their readership demographic is within equity correct parameters. Although likely the free market will make the adjustment as their readership continues to plummet.

“Why track any number?” Right now, the DOJ is up to “employee five.” Does this mean Mar-A-Largo now has to start actively start looking for people to fill these vacancies? Since tRump only hires the best and the brightest the hiring process should be quite intense. Will there be a 6,7,etc? Will be waiting for those stats.

So, if the data showed that black perspectives, for instance, were included in say 50% of stories, while they are only 13% of the population, they would then dial back the force feeding of black perspectives, right?

    Hmmm, probably not.

      only 13% of the population”

Factoring in a noticeable…um…uptick in the presence of bLack people in commercials, that ~13% figure no longer appears to be accurate.

Actually, I think they are only about 10%, but I was giving a few points for affirmative action.

          Further complicating an accurate accounting?

Hilariously despicable Lefties (Rachel Dolezal, Shaun [“I was raised bLack”] King, Hilaria Baldwin, “Tin Lizzie” Warren, et al) who…um…IDENTIFY as minorities to either advance their career prospects, or siphon off some of their suffocating White Lefty Guilt.

A congressional inquiry confirmed this week the existence of extraterrestrial (undocumented) aliens. Although they have infiltrated all levels of our government, on both sides of the aisle, they are still, at this point, a minority. Will the MJS place one, (preferably with a criminal record) on their equity advisory panel?

On a more serious note(???), now that they (lizard people) have been “outed”, will they finally “come out of the closet”? Their nervous habit of licking their eyeballs, (Adam Schiff, Nancy Pelosi, et al), greatly detracts from their believability. Don’t PRETEND that you haven’t noticed.
