Someone tell Progressives it’s over!
Maybe it’s fake, maybe not. Might be Russian disinformation. Might have caught truth in a bottle just the same. It’s the Tweet from supposed “proud Democrat” and Obama operative Erica Marsh:
“No black person will be able to succeed in a merit-based system.”

Put it this way: Woke progressives need the tweet to be fake because the sentiment is insulting, condescending, outright out-there racist. Worse, it captures the entire rationale of affirmative action. How else does one justify accepting one applicant because of the color of their skin at the expense of denying another person because of the color of their skin?
Desperate, the neo-Marxists at The Nation have begun show trials. Like Stalin in an earlier day, they need new enemies to explain the failure of their project: Asian-Americans. Thus, this headline:
“Asian-American conservatives have become key allies of white supremacy.”
“As the death of affirmative action showed, Asian American conservatives are active, militant co-conspirators with white conservatives.”
Get the irony? The Woke DEI peddlers are fighting supposed racism with racism of their own! They need to call for fire on their own positions because, the Washington Post admits: “Who’s O.K. with the affirmative action decision? Many black Americans!”
The Democrats’ stewardship of urban black America — its education, housing, and family well being — has been a policy and moral failure. … The Democratic Left … has come up with a deflection for six decades of failure: Create scapegoat such as “white supremacy’. Or the Supreme Court.

This is a fight Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos will win. The Republican is taking aim at the heart of Woke racism — the 189 well-paid diversity, equity, and inclusion agitators embedded in our state university system. Gov. Tony Evers, D-Woke, vetoed the legislature’s recision of those specific positions but could not restore the $32 million the legislature defunded from the overall university budget. The top salary for a diversity officer at the chancellor level is $312,120, while another 16 make annual salaries of $100,000 or more.
Blaska’s Bottom Lines:
• Hire 189 to teach elementary reading and math — you won’t need DEI!
• The War on Woke is more Ron DeSantis and less Donald Trump. The issue wins moderate Democrats and independents.
• Do NOT get rid of the partial veto! Only get rid of parts of the partial veto. (Got it?)
• Cocaine in the White House? Sounds like Russian disinformation, right Mr. Clapper? Right, Mr. Brennan?
• The Woke folk also defund police, end cash bail, empty the jails, end honors classes, and bowdlerize school discipline to make the racial numbers “equitable.” They expelled a 42-ton rock from the Madison campus after charging it with racism, for chrissakes!

Come on, everybody knew that rock was as racist as Fredrich March. It had to go!
I performed my own Frankenstein veto on your column. Result:
“Not an insurrection”
Glad you’re finally seeing the light.
Vanna White just gave me some vowels: “Guilty as charged!”
“Hire 189 to teach elementary reading and math” to high school graduates from public schools so they might succeed. Maybe they will understand the student loan papers they just signed or the job application they filled out.
WaPo: “Who’s O.K. with the affirmative action decision? Many black Americans!”
Et tu, WaPo…?
Lefties eating their own? It’s almost too much to take.
Almost…

“How else does one justify accepting one applicant because of the color of their skin at the expense of denying another person because of the color of their skin?”
The dissents in the Supreme Court decision are enlightening and answer your question quite thoroughly. I have a feeling many on this blog know the following and willfully pretend not to in order to make a political play.
Simultaneously with the passage of the 14th Amendment, which the SC majority relied on to overturn affirmative action, there were a number of race-conscious laws and policies passed by Congress to push against the societal and institutional racism pervasive in the US.
Clearly if such policies were contrary the the intent of the 14th Amendment they would not have been enacted at the same time as the Amendment. But due to persistent racism, these policies had the effect of upholding the promise of the 14th Amendment, forcing racist Americans to hold their nose and allow non-whites, at least a little bit sometimes, to be treated with equality. (The conservative SC Justices and the R party believe in originalism… except when they don’t…)
Perhaps if our forefathers had enacted reparations for slavery and dealt better with the war’s aftermath these types of race-conscious laws and policies wouldn’t have been needed for so long.
But alas, well into modern times Black people in the US were still being freely discriminated against individually, in law, and in public policy, despite the fact that this discrimination was already “unconstitutional”! (access to housing, access to education, access to employment, need I cite references?) The constitution said people should be treated equally, but much of the country was/is racist and refused to comply, our legal system was/is unsuitably structured to effectively address the issue, so race-conscious law and policy continued to be used to continue to attempt to counteract this persistent racism.
But now, with no reasonable facts to rest the conclusion on, the SC (and the R party, of course) has decided that racism is no longer a problem deserving of active remedy. They effectively say not only is racism not a current issue in the US, the effects of generations of discrimination have disappeared. Oh, yes of course, racial discrimination is still illegal… go ahead and take your claim to court… better yet – call the police… Good luck with that…

Let not yer heart be troubled Rollie; too many Race Whores’ livelihood depends on it to let it slide.
And NEVER…EVER discount despicable Lefty, whose pudgy, uncalloused paws are all over it.
To wit: Gosh I’m Nice bumper stickers, I’m Dialed In lapel ribbons, and Look At Me wrist bands cravenly supply a vital endorphin surge which feeds that there Messiah Complex and, in turn, siphons off that there oppressive White Lefty Guilt.
Truly symbiotic relationship, am I right?

The Gotch
It is not the Supreme Court’s job to stamp out racism, or “fix” any other injustice. The left has always believed the SC should pick winners and losers. That’s how they got Roe and AA in the first place. Now that liberals no longer control the majority, they are working overtime to delegitimize this court and use it as an excuse to pack the court through expansion or term limits. Anything other than a conservative majority returning logic and sanity to the process of applying the law, not re-writing it. They believe the SC belongs to them.
