Former Madison mayor Dave Cieslewicz writes:
“Yeah, he’s a lot more conservative than I am, but that does not change the simple fact that what he’s saying about school safety is true. He wants to make the basic safety of students and staff a priority. He would return the SRO’s and get rid of the wrong-headed Behavioral Education Plan, which discourages staff from calling the police even when there’s physical violence. These things are just common sense.”

Why Mark Pocan, D-Madison, voted against the debt limit deal
“Forget the debt ceiling. The Biden-McCarthy compromise is a big deal because it is a spending compromise. An important provision of the deal is that if, by the end of the year, the House and Senate haven’t passed 12 appropriations bills (the long-forgotten way budgeting is supposed to work), all discretionary spending would become subject to an automatic 1% cut. This is what is known as a “sequester.” A sequester is to Democrats what garlic is to vampires. …
“The truth today is this: The modern Democratic Party — the party of Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and the House Squad — won’t cut or slow spending for any existing federal program, ever. Now, Mr. McCarthy’s negotiators have managed to create a wedge against the left’s massive opposition to spending reforms.”

It is to laugh
“The ‘Chaos’ at the border is by design”
“As a presidential candidate in 2020, Biden criticized Trump for “drastically” restricting access to asylum. Now he’s doing the very same thing.”

Question of the Day
What ‘Deep State’?
Rachael Rollins, the US attorney for Massachusetts, leaked sensitive Justice Department information to a journalist in an effort to influence a local election, lied to investigators and improperly attended a fundraiser with Jill Biden, according to two critical federal reports released Wednesday. (More here.)
How can anyone take them seriously?
Charles C.W. Cooke asks at National Review.
“Rachel Maddow made a career out of spreading lunatic conspiracy theories on MSNBC, as did Chris Hayes and Nicolle Wallace (who is still, today, rejecting all evidence that contradicts her fever dream). Adam Schiff lied relentlessly from his official perch on the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs, and is now gearing up to run for the Senate.”

I was already going to write in DB even before he officially declared his candidacy.
Cieslewicz’s announcement is just further proof of how bad it if in Madison.
And just watch, because it’s going to get much worse.

Mayor Dave: too little too late, IMO. He’s pushing back against the Regressives sensing the writing on the wall about the mid-terms.

You mean OTHER than they’ll be powered with EVIL coal-generated electricity AND no one will be riding them?

Pretty sure the EV buses still have issues with cold temps and hills. I sure hope Madison Metro has the good sense to test them in extreme hot and cold conditions.

A helpful suggestion: To avoid cognitive dissonance, try not to use “Madison” and “good sense” in the same sentence.

Maybe the buses will be like the electric( actually hybrid ) fire (pumper ) truck they have. I’ve heard its driving range is 27 miles and pumping time is 3 minutes. Good thing it has the 350 horsepower diesel engine as backup.I wonder what their run time is. Maybe the buses will come with extension cords just in case.

Electric buses are just the latest in Madison progressives’ pet projects. Check out the link below to see another–this one literally going up in smoke.

Mary Hudson: Public Education’s Dirty Secret
“Bad teaching is a common explanation given for the disastrously inadequate public education received by America’s most vulnerable populations. THIS IS A MYTH. (bolds/caps/italics mine)
“High school diplomas were […] handed out to countless 12th graders with, from my observation, a 7th grade education. ”
Much of this is from ~20 years ago, the most recent examples in this article are 10-12 years + old; has it gotten better, stayed the same, or gotten worse?

“In the last hundred years, we’ve gone from teaching Greek and Latin in high schools to teaching remedial English in college.” My public high school in a small town in northern Wi offered Latin back in the ’60s when I was a student. It also required teachers to have a Master’s degree in their subject area. On graduation, I entered UW-Madison and found myself well prepared for the rigors of college work despite my utter ignorance of CRT. Those were the days, my friend ….

“… and oh who the hell am I kidding, the schools are getting worse not better. And the damn meetings! The only reason I get through them is I got my shows on. Never heard so much blah blah blah in my whole life. Ain’t gonna do it no more. That is why I am asking all you all to write in DAVID BLASKA for seat 4. For the love of God put me out of my misery! ”
This could be a game changer.

Her e-mail must have been hacked by the Russkies. Probably the same ones who hacked into Joy Reid’s blog and wrote all those homophobic rants.
