Chuck Todd is loathsome; will Obama break the news to Biden?

Let Biden be Biden his time

President Trump has extended the coronavirus social-distancing guidelines
until April 30. We’re guessing there are a couple fewer pandemic deniers today.

NBC News anchor Chuck Todd raised eyebrows Sunday morning when he asked: “Do you think there is blood on the president’s hands considering the slow response?” Todd asked. “Or is that too harsh of a criticism?”

Even Biden, who has been critical of the president throughout the crisis, thought the question was “a little too harsh.”

The Hill media reporter Joe Concha observed: “Chuck Todd served as a moderator of an NBC News debate on Feb. 19, which was more than two weeks after President Trump suspended travel from China. Number of questions Todd asked any of the candidates about Coronavirus? Zero.”

Joe Biden

Um, Joe, we gotta talk

Joe Biden’s sell-by date came and went. Michael Goodwin in the NY Post:

Trump has outperformed expectations as Biden first disappeared, then reappeared in several dreadful performances. … His daily briefings demonstrate the hands-on approach Americans expect from a president during an emergency. … Polls show the president’s job-approval rising, and his handling of the crisis is getting strong majority support, including 60 percent in a Gallup survey. …

Meanwhile, Biden is a shrunken version of the guy who got hot at the right time.… Looking isolated and lapsing into occasional gibberish, he seemed every bit the mentally challenged 77-year-old he was on the worst days … So what can Dems do?

Find another nominee. But first, they must bench Biden, or persuade him to bench himself. It’s a job for Barack Obama. The former president remains the most trusted member of his party and is uniquely situated to deliver the bad news to his vice president. In fact, it won’t be a total surprise given that Obama never endorsed Biden,

⇒ Draft NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo? “It’s not out of the question if Biden keeps looking out of touch and irrelevant,” says National Review.

Blaska’s after burners: The Gallup public opinion poll finds the news media’s approval rating is 19 points below Donald Trump.

What do YOU think?

Fauci has reduced his death projections from 1-2 million down to 1-2 hundred thousand–and the latter are high-end estimates. Is Fauci denying pandemic? Or simply adopting realistic numbers?

Just adapting to projected numbers based on changing information. I suspect if people really start to seriously follow the social distancing guidelines that that 1-2 hundred thousand number might go down but if frustrated ignorant people ignore the guidelines that number could start to soar. It’s all based on how we the people are reacting.

And that’s a wrap: draconian mandates imposed on a low-lethal virus resulting in– surpise!– fewer deaths than originally projected. Not because it is a relatively benign infection (in average people) to begin with, but because the government stepped in. Never mind, the $2.2 Trillion (and counting), skyrocketing unemployment, tanking market or the inability to obtain herd-immunity because everyone is locked away. Rather than carpet bombing the nation, I’d prefer to see more surgical measures imposed on hotspots and/or at-risk populations. The only thing missing now during this hysteria is funeral pyres!

I don’t think herd-immunity is created and employed in the manner in which you appear to think it is, there needs to be a vaccine first.

Herd-immunity: the resistance to the spread of a contagious disease within a population that results if a sufficiently high proportion of individuals are immune to the disease, especially through vaccination.

Vaccinations are how we have nearly irradiated many killer diseases out there, those vaccines have created the herd-immunity. We do not currently know enough about this particular virus to know if there is a natural or permanent immunity that’s built up within those that recover from COVID-19. In fact it’s been recently reported that there are some that have gotten reinfected with COVID-19 again even after recovering and testing negative for the virus.

Your “surgical measures imposed on hotspots and/or at-risk populations” while allowing the virus to spread at will throughout the of the country is not logical, it’s risking the lives of millions. Once this is effectively contained, everything can start to get back to normal.

The ignorant–but cock-sure–claim that the modifying phrase “especially through immunization” actually means ‘damn-near-ONLY’ through immunization.

Every other commenter on the ‘net agrees: herd immunity in THIS case will arise when enough citizens (not subjects!!) have acquired immunity through having had the disease.

  3. I think loathsome is an understatement when talking about Chuck Todd, utterly morally bankrupt is quite appropriate.

“Do you think there is blood on the president’s hands considering the slow response?” Chuck Todd.

Slow response? More and more of this leftist propaganda being spewed trying to rewrite history, Chuck Todd is a liar, yes I’m calling Chuck Todd a liar!

Anyone remember what the Democrats and the anti-Trump hate-fest were focused on in January and early February, they were all focused on impeachment! President Trump was focusing on that AND the virus and many other things and his actions prove that fact. Democrats are a one trick pony, they hate Trump and everything else takes a back seat.

I’m copying and pasting from other websites…

Todd’s colleagues called Trump’s response of shutting down travel to China racist and precipitous.

In response to the viral threat, President Trump issued the order banning travel from China on January 29. (For perspective, note that New York City mayor de Blasio urged his city to get out and go to movies and shows on March 10.) Former Washington Post reporter Ezra Klein’s Vox tweeted, ‘Is this going to be a deadly pandemic? No.” Lenny Bernstein at the Washington Post wrote on January 31, ‘|”Get a grippe , America. The flu is a much bigger threat than Coronavirus, for now.” Then the Post’s editors wrote, “Past epidemics prove fighting coronavirus with travel bans is a mistake.” Another op-ed was headlined, “How our brains make coronavirus seem scarier than it is.’” Three days later yet another op-ed explained to us “Why we should be wary of an aggressive government response to coronavirus.” It would lead to more stigmatization of marginalized populations, you see. Let’s get our priorities straight.

A few days before President Trump’s Oval Office address to the nation on the epidemic, CNN’s Anderson Cooper told his audience that “if you’re freaked out about the Coronavirus you should be more concerned about the flu.” After Trump’s address, CNN’s fake media ethics watch-dog Brian Stelter said, “Sean Hannity and Fox were going to celebrate the travel ban while evading the scourge spread within the US.”

Then we have partisan attack dogs like the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi using her public podium to spew out blatantly obvious extreme partisan propaganda like “As the President fiddles, people are dying”. This kind of crap from Pelosi and Todd shows just how far these political hacks and attack dogs have fallen into the abyss of utter moral bankruptcy. When you’re driven by hate, this is exactly the kind of crap that spews forth and drips down the chins of hateful mouths.

Herd immunity results from vaccination (if available), but infection is the only way if it is not (which it aint, and I’d be very surprised if it becomes available before this is over). Infection is not “risking the lives of millions”– there you go again confusing contagious with lethality. They are not the same, especially for average, healthy adults.

I’m sick of your obtuse trolling, I’m not confusing a damn thing, you’re blindly ignoring how contagious this virus appears to be. I also appears that you, like others, really don’t give a damn about those that aren’t “average, healthy adults”, just throw the rest aside like an old shoe. New York City Mayor de Blasio urged his city to get out and go to movies and shows on March 10, what happened in NYC as a result of that ignorant remark. CNN’s Anderson Cooper told his audience that “if you’re freaked out about the Coronavirus you should be more concerned about the flu.”. The Washington Post wrote on January 31, “Get a grippe , America. The flu is a much bigger threat than Coronavirus, for now.” Then the Post’s editors wrote, Past epidemics prove fighting coronavirus with travel bans is a mistake.” Of course most of those kind of statements were just to undercut what the President’s efforts to actually slow the spread of the virus.

You Kooter wrote, “the mortality rate of covid-19 is about 1%”

FACT: The population of the USA right now is roughly 331,000,000 people, if this virus was allowed to run wild across the United States and infect everyone the roughly 1% mortality rate calculates out to 3,310,000 deaths. Some official estimates were roughly 2.2 million dead from this virus if it was allowed to spread without social distancing. Social distancing seems to have done a decent job, so far, of reducing the spread and the estimates are down as a result of that distancing to maybe 100,000 – 200,000 deaths, that upwards of 0.0604% of our population!

Do you think those insignificant one to two hundred thousand people want to die? Reverse the social distancing too quickly and we’ll be right back up there in those 2.2 – 3.3 million possibilities again regardless of where the estimates are right now. The CDC, the President, Governors, Mayors, etc need to take careful steps before allowing the flood gates of the economy to reopen.

Survival of the fittest in a pandemic, and that’s kinda what you’re advocating for, is a morally bankrupt position in this situation.

Gee. I don’t know ANYONE who ‘wants to die.’

But ~2.3 million people in the USA will die this year from all causes–maybe 2.4 or 2.5. Stroke, cancer, heart disease, and accidents EACH account for more than 100,000 deaths.

    Risk happens.

Your position is that Trump & Co. will be murdering 200K if he releases the home-imprisonment locks before 5/1? Will he have murdered them if releasing 5/2? 5/3?

Assigning criminal liability for allowing slightly elevated risk? Hmmmm!! Why aren’t you the CEO of Gun Control, Inc.?
