Was Robert deNiro amused?
And the winner for Courage in the Face of Liberal Arrogance
award goes to …
All hail Ricky Gervais! The British comedian did what the American Left only prattles about but never practices: he afflicted the comfortable and spoke truth to power. That being, of course, America’s multi-billion dollar entertainment industry. The self-appointed moral conscience and arbiter of correct thinking.
The host Sunday night of Hollywood’s Golden Globe Awards chomped down hard on the hand that has been feeding him. Gervais skewered the self-importance and virtue-signaling of America’s masters of the universe. He pilloried the condescension of heliport-hopping climate change activists, the hypocrisy of multi-millionaire socialists.
Yes, Gervais was lewd and crude. Mean-spirited. Unfair. Hurtful. Even self-righteous. Stings, doesn’t it, my liberal-progressive-socialist acquaintances!
A taste of Gervais’ strong medicine, minus even a little bit of sugar to make it go down:
I came here in a limo tonight and the license plate was made by Felicity Huffman.
We were going to do an “in memoriam” this year abut when I saw list of people who had died it wan’t diverse enough. No, it was mostly white people and I thought, Nah. Not on my watch! Maybe next year.
Apple roared into the TV game with The Morning Show, a superb drama about the importance of dignity and doing the right thing, made by a company that runs sweatshops in China. Well, you say you’re woke but the companies you work for in China — unbelievable. Apple, Amazon, Disney. If ISIS started a streaming service you’d call your agent, wouldn’t you?
So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.
