We are not happy campers

Don’t let the city subsidize the anarchists.

There was a time (not that long ago) when Blaska was an actual news reporter and would go to the scene of the train accident, building fire, tornado, school board meeting, or other disaster.

We were present on Day One of the Act 10 intifada on the Monday morning in February 2011 when UW-Madison students streamed into the Capitol to begin what would become a five-month occupation that swelled to tens of thousands. It brought actress Susan Sarandon (among others) to Madison in solidarity. Some protestors even chained themselves to the balustrades overnight. They chanted “This is What Democracy Looks Like.”

To these weary eyes, their vision of democracy looked more like a P.O.W. camp. Blaska does not do squalor, which is why we don’t camp. (Miss Sarandon stayed in a hotel with A/C and hot showers.)

We were roughed up by Freedom Inc. eight years ago for addressing the Madison school board in favor of school resource police officers. The school district did not intervene.

A few days after Hamas murdered Israeli civilians, we were on the ground to observe a Palestinian support group convened at Tenney Park. They were teaching kids to draw “From the River to the Sea.” An Hamas supporter blindsided an old guy who didn’t seem entirely sympathetic. Bull-rushed him into a brick wall. I think I was unconscious for a few seconds.

A word on Democrats’ whack-a-mole governor’s primary: Mandela Barnes is out amid rumors of impropriety after another candidate quit because her campaign couldn’t add or subtract. A third candidate was out before he got back in. A Defund the Police socialist is ahead. Like Mexican fast-food lettuce, at what point is the Democrat brand itself tarnished? (Discuss amongst yourselves.)

A No Police zone

This is what progressivism looks like

In other words, I don’t trust myself to venture into the crazed Corey Ruiz Autonomous Zone, that lawless, late-stage progressive summer camp for civics class drop outs. If I know David Blaska, the darn fool would likely attempt to plant a “We Support Our Madison Police” yard sign amidst the human wreckage. We would be at the mercy of the mob, since Police Chief Patterson has acquiesced to the communists’ ban on his supposed slave catchers within the zone of occupation.

Lot of acquiescence these days in Madison, depending on your political persuasion.

Ten days in, drug use, fighting, and general squalor are retracing the template of similar occupied zones in Portland, Seattle, and NYC. Even Mayor Satya Rhodes Conway is calling the encampment “not sustainable or safe.”

Besides stupid and naive, the protestors are arrogant and entitled. These are people who have no business sense (like the Democrats running for governor, except for Joel Brennan). Grievance study majors and professional community organizers expect businesses on the street to go belly up in “Solidarity.” (GAWD, how I hate that word!)  Pretty soon the anarchists will demand Netflix.

The owner of an Ethiopian restaurant on the street told the Wisconsin State Journal “protesters are really killing the business.” Something tells us that owner can expect a visit from the socialist education committee.

→ Karlyn Borysenko dares record the dysfunction

Taxpayers are already subsidizing Francesca Hong’s Defund the Police occupation. The City of Madison is providing portable toilets. (Wouldn’t buckets suffice?) Now, we read, the City’s Economic Development Division is working on the local alder’s request to compensate the affected businesses, which amounts to subsidizing the uprising.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Not One dime. E-mail the alders. Or call them at 608-266-4071.

Can you tell them ‘Not One Dime’?

Is it possible we’re becoming inured to this level of lunacy? One silver lining; I’m looking forward to the heavy rain that is forecast for later today and this evening. Should give the mopes a good soaking. Or will Satya provide camper vans?

      Or soap.

I was watching the local news, specifically Ch. 27, the ABC affiliate, last evening, hoping to get the latest update on the antics transpiring at the intersection of Willy and Baldwin Streets (soon to be renamed Corey Ruiz Square). Instead I was treated to the “breaking news” that Mandela Barnes had tossed in the proverbial towel. Not a peep, of course, about any rumors of impropriety. Five minutes later what should appear on the screen but a campaign ad for (drum roll, please) Mandela Barnes. Rather like seeing the ghost of someone who had recently died. To compare the Democrats’ run for the governorship to a clown car would be to commit a grievous slander against clowns.

I saw a couple of videos on Facebook by this women “Decode The Left with Karlyn Borysenko”. She was recording at CRAZ this morning until they chased her out. I have no connection but interesting seeing what is going on. We need a good thunderstorm since our city government won’t do anything. If you want better information you have to go to alternative media and believe what you want.

Anyone with a working cellphone is now a “reporter”. They can pick and choose the video clip to use, but they still have to “go with what they got”. Such is the case with the terrible “hate crime” on Wednesday last.

A widely circulated video of the event shows a man approaching a table of the money changers, loudly proclaiming that “This is a public street”, and that the public has a right to access it. A large, bearded person (?) approaches, and places his face in right hook territory. (never a good idea, for “they” are promptly clocked). The angry man then retreats into an area where “the community” has brought their offerings to the fist/phallus idol, and attempts to kick some of the offerings out of the street, all while still proclaiming it to be a public street, and the public’s right to use it.

He is now charged with various offenses, with HATE CRIME enhancers. What is the basis of this? The bearded “person” (?), LGBTQ2AA++++? He seemed ready to take on anyone, regardless of any racial connections, so ??? Is it religious in nature, for desecration of a religious shrine? Why is this man not considered to be a PROTESTER himself? (albeit an “anti-protester protester) His behavior, (assault included), pales in comparison to the violent tactics of “the community”. Do I see a double standard, or is just my lyin’ eyes?

“The Community” can and must do better.

The Mayor says the life of Corey Ruiz will never be forgotten. No such words for Abubacarr “Buba” Darboe.

Some black lives it seems matter more than others.

It’s time to seriously challenge her “leadership”. Who could win against her? I’m thinking Zach Brandon. Who else?

A certain irascible bloggeure and all-round jackanapes comes to mind. Granted, his campaign would be symbolic, but it would disrupt the uncontested coronation of the socialist cow who now occupies the mayor’s throne as well as provide much needed comic relief. A debate between the two would be must-see TV.

In the afterlife waiting room, Corey Ruiz spots Abubacarr “Buba” Darboe.

Ruiz: Yo Buba. Vandy grad, model citizen, drive-by victim. Forgotten already. Me? Career menace—resisting cops, knives, thefts. Police shooting. Instant lionization: mayor speeches, protests, memorials.

Darboe: So where did I go wrong?

Ruiz: Rookie error. Never die clean in a random shooting. Need the official seal—cops, struggle, cameras. Build the brand: decades of prior contacts. Then officials scramble to humanize you. Past record? “Doesn’t answer the question.” You? Bright future, no rap sheet. Just another homicide. Fades fast.

Darboe: Steal bikes and pull a knife next time?

Ruiz: Exactly. Be the right kind of menace. That’s how you get the spotlight. Welcome to the club—my side’s trending.
