They just don’t curse as much.
Despite the best efforts of John Nichols to mainstream and Main Street his fellow/sister socialist Francesca Hong, voters in rural Lafayette County — “about as far as you can get from the urban centers and college campuses” — are not fretting over “the fate of Palestinians in Gaza,” as he ludicrously claims at The Capital Times.
Rural Wisconsin is more likely to be exercised over the cost of fuel, the price corn brings on the commodity markets, and DEI indoctrination in their schools. No, John, what 80% of over-taxed Wisconsin wants, as polled by Marquette Law School, is their surplus rebate checks and school property tax relief — which Hong and her party oppose because it’s not income redistribution.
Pro-Hamas hardliners like Bernie Sanders, A.O.C., Zohran Mamdani, State Rep. Hong (D-Madison), and U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Hamas) have captured the Democrat(ic) party.
“Israel’s critics are winning the battle for the Democratic Party,” Vox reports.
Persuadable moderates like Dave Cieslewicz (who’s studyin’ up to be a conservative) fret that his former party will lose to Republican Tom Tiffany if they do not steer clear of Ms. Hong and the recycled Mandela Barnes — both of whom are Defund the Police, although they tiptoe around the topic these days.” (“Moderate Dems may slump toward defeat.“)
That leaves five other plausible Democrats running for governor: Sara Rodriguez, Joel Brennan, David Crowley, Kelda Roys, and Missy Hughes. They all worked in government, we’re told.
“A better Wisconsin is possible …. Any argument that we need to accept less is bullshit.” — Francesca Hong on her website

Stealth candidates
Former Madison mayor Dave fears if one of the moderates does get the nomination, “their message will be so uninspired, what they’ll really do is just run against Tiffany, just as nationally the Dems, without any agenda of their own, run against Trump.”
We scoured their campaign websites for any hint of what George Bush Sr. called “the vision thing” and found high-fructose corn syrup instead. “Invest in housing, health care, and climate resilience,” urges Milwaukee County executive Crowley. State Sen. Roys (D-Madison) is “a proven, progressive fighter.” Ms. Missy Hughes “brings people together and gets things done.” (So do pirates.)
Our guess is the so-called moderates do not differ in any substantial way from Hong or Barnes. If they did, they could say so but they have a Democrat(ic) primary election to win and that path runs through Madison’s isthmus. They’re just more circumspect about unfurling their hard-left freak flags.
Don’t believe me? Ask any of the candidates these questions — questions that the League of (progressive) Women Voters won’t ask:
• Should police be defunded or “re-imagined”?
• Boys in the girls room, yes or no?
• Ask parents consent before sexual identity affirmation?
• Legalize abortion right up to birth?
• Return budget surpluses to the taxpayer?
• How many new government programs would you start?
• Shelter illegal immigrants?
• Fire or hire more DEI bureaucrats?
• Does Israel have the right to exist? Defend itself against Hamas?
• Would you choke off school choice for low-income families?
• What grade do you give Jill Underly at WI Public Instruction?
• Hire more conservative faculty at our public universities?
• Pick one: too much spending or not enough revenue?
• Does America need fundamental change?
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Our guess is that you will find not one bitcoin’s worth of difference between the Democrats. They’re all on the same page; Francesca and Mandela are just reading aloud.
