Give Rep. Hong a 20-second hug

She writes bills that never pass!

Former governor Scott McCallum was right: there’s too much government. Our dwindling press corps is at pains to report all the doings of federal, state, county, and city legislators. Rep. Francesca Hong, D-Madison, is an exception. She can thank John Nichols, whose indefatigable flacking has vaulted his fellow socialist to the head of the nine candidates running for the Democrat(ic) party’s nomination for governor. Still, there is legislation that Comrade John missed, or prefers to tip toe past. Allow our morbid curiosity to fill the void.

Rep. Hong is the beating heart of the pro-Palestine, “reimagine policing,” social justice warriors here in Wisconsin. The huddled masses yearning for more free stuff support legislation like her Assembly Bill 370. It required prisons and jails to allow inmates to get and give a 20-second hug at the beginning and end of each visiting period.

We can envision the warden holding a ticking stop watch while Slugger McGurk and his gun moll perform a Not-Safe-For-Work lip lock. Would smoochie woochies qualify under the legislation? Might have been meat for the courts had not Republicans cruelly blown the whistle on this ACLU-friendly legislation last week.

UPDATE: Rep. Hong voted AGAINST Assembly Bill 667 making it a crime to groom children for sex. It passed anyway, 93 to 6. (H/T: Scott Pietrzykowski!)

Also voted against AB 180 banning SNAP (food stamp) payments for candy and junk food.

Snakes on a plane

Undeterred, the indefatigable advocate for the criminal proposed Assembly Bill 740 to require inmates in solitary confinement be given a book, a pen or pencil, the inmate’s personal address book, at least 10 pieces of paper and 10 envelopes. (No Bible, Warden Norton?) Ms Hong also sponsored:

• Granting $5 million for government-run grocery stores.

Paying lawyers $100/hour to represent tenants contesting eviction notices.

• Easing standards required to bring sexual assault charges against police.

• Allowing colleges, state and local government to boycott Israel.

• Prohibiting private and charter schools from banning transgender athletes in girls sports.

• Making it harder to prosecute prostitution.

• Forbidding police from tracking down suspects using their smart phones without a judicial warrant.

All mercilessly defeated! Heartless Republicans could not abide even Assembly Joint Resolution 38 proclaiming 2025 as the Year of the Snake.

Perfect, enemy of good

In Sunday’s newspaper, Capital Times associate editor Nichols represents that his client opposes A-I data centers — along with fellow socialists Bernie Sanders and A.O.C. A reasonably popular political stance. But on Assembly Bill 840, which would have required data centers, not consumers, to pay for improvements to the state power grid and to recycle cooling water, Rep. Hong voted NO. Maybe it wasn’t the perfect bill that Democrats wanted; the result being, neither bill is law today.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: We pick on Rep. Hong because she is where Democrats are headed — in the direction of Mamdani and Cuba as opposed to Fetterman and West Allis. Also because the plucky lady is comedy that writes itself.

Does Wisconsin deserve Rep. Hong?

They’ll write or say anything to get themselves elected. However, they won’t be able to cash the checks they wrote. The sad part is there are people who actually believe it.

Wisconsin will deserve to get her if they vote her in. You get what you vote for. Period.
She could very well win because she is a Democrat backed by the party, and it doesn’t matter what she believes in or what she would do. However, if she ran as a Republican she would go down in flames, not for what she believes in and would do, but because she’s a Republican. In Wisconsin issues don’t matter to most voters, what now matters is if you have a D or an R in front of your name. Given the choice of far right or far left, far left seems to be the choice for 51% or so of the voters in Wisconsin in the last few years. There is no in between being offered to the voters.

So what has Tiffany done? Concerned about smoke from Canada forest fires. Something about the gray wolf. Endorsed by dozy don. How about a debate? Town hall? All I know so far is he and the old lady ran a tour boat. Something about a dam and a pic of him leaning on a grain shovel.

The old “Whaddabout” dodge when your candidate’s positions are indefensible!

Yeah. Clearly is unable to say anything supportive of Hong, so he trashes someone else. Nice. But, not very convincing….

Yes, as opposed to Hong’s achievement of failing to keep open a restaurant where boiling noodles was a core business element.

NoKings! but get this experimental vaccine or you’re fired!
No Kings! but wear this mask or you’re a murderer.
No Kings! but scramble your pronouns or you are cancelled.
No Kings! but believe some women have penises or you are phobic.

Buddism preaches that what you hate… you become.

How is the vaccine experimental or do you just avoid new technology altogether? And facemasking works. If you don’t think so, then the next time you have surgery tell the team that masks (cough) are not necessary.

They seem to think that walking around Disneyland with a Little Mermaid bubble wand will protect them. The real plan is to spend every dollar on this Iran mess then tell us there is nothing left for healthcare funding. Ask Texas how that measles thing is going. Sleepy Don’s entire cabinet belongs in prison.

Paper masks do nothing to affect viruses. Nothing. Nada.
The vaccine was fast tracked by a Trump mandate that bypassed the otherwise requisite FDA testing. So you can thank him for that and I can thank him for taking it a Choice.
Comparing a surgical mask to Covid flu (thanks Fauci and the Wuhan Virology Institute) is just dumb.

Let me cough in your face without a “paper mask” and im sure you’ll be regretting your post. Just because you don’t believe it doesn’t work doesn’t make the objective evidence wrong. But what else can you do when you don’t have any policies, focus on culture war issues!

Steve, masks work in keeping out most bacteria from the wound during surgery, keeping out certain particulate matter from job sites, and hiding the hideousness of ugly people. The science is clear that they do not work to prevent the transmission of viruses (ILI).

Funny how Democrats rail against kings but fall in line like serfs when their Party snaps its fingers.

Right, that’s why the term BDS exsists. Oh wait, it’s TDS! (Meaning if you don’t agree with trump, your delusional) Ironic you are complaining about kings when your king threatens to primary opponents.

Well at least she isn’t running like Virginia Governor Spanberger did. She ran as a moderate and gets elected and as soon as she starts does all the things she said she wasn’t going to do. Ban guns, raise taxes and give money for every left wing idea out there. If Wisconsin voters elect her or Mandela Barnes they deserve what they will get like NYC got.

Mamdani is incredibly popular in NYC and has doing a great job so far (I am from NYC originally-Fox Valley and Green Bay for long time now), what exactly are you complaining about re: Mamdani? I know he is a bogeyman for the right (although Trump seems to want to marry him due to his bright smile and handsome looks…). But there is no “there”: there yet…
