Can’t anyone get immigration right?

One could blame Joe Biden for Minneapolis just as much as the Gregory Bovino/Proud Boy wing of the Republican party. The question posed by liberals of a certain age over dense books and fine wine Monday evening on Madison’s west side was this: What was the former President thinking when he allowed — if not encouraged — 7.8 million immigrants to illegally cross the border — 1.7 million of whom evaded apprehension? Kamala Harris, border czar? Shirley, you must be joking!

Even the two Republicans in the group (one a suspected RINO) agreed that Trump is over-playing his hand — and not for the first time. (NATO Europe may need some Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in their faces but how about getting your history straight? Denmark served alongside us in Afghanistan.)

When the Republican governor of Oklahoma pretty much sides with Governor Tampon Tim of Minnesota, you’ve lost, as LBJ experienced, the nation’s Walter Cronkites — few in number but ominously increasing. “Immigration enforcement is becoming a political liability for Republicans,” the Wall Street Journal concludes.

Madison wobblies want their Minneapolis

Monday’s west side gathering is an admittedly small sample size (but all were players in Wisconsin’s political and civic life back in the day). There was consensus that Madison’s social justice warriors are rehearsing their slogans. Monroe Street Alder Tag Evers reports that Madison is exploring “to what extent the City can restrict the use of City property and resources for federal immigration enforcement under current law.” The alder, who with Mayor Satya once demanded the immediate release of BLM shakedown artist Yeshua (“Venmo me the money”) Musa, directs constituents to Voces de la Frontera and other professional nihilists.

We want everyone in our community to know — regardless of who you are or where you come from — your City government welcomes and values you. — Madison Ald. Tag Evers

Even Eleodoro Jorge Baez? The man sits in jail accused of shooting to death another man in the trailer park off Badger Road Sunday morning 01-25-26. How about Melissa Britt Basilo Ruiz? She faces a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm in the same incident.

The pair may or may not be legal citizens, but a disproportionate 12.3% of the “residents” in Sheriff Kaleb Barrett’s lockup are hispanic in a county in which that demographic equals 8.2%. Selecting black and brown people for incarceration? Au contraire, mon frere! The minority-race sheriff, elected on the Democrat(ic) ticket, refuses to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer requests. A year ago, Dane County withdrew from the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program, which reimbursed local taxpayers $634,00 over four years as payment for holding illegals for I.C.E.

Last summer, an illegal immigrant driving the wrong way on the Interstate highway north of DeForest killed two adult teens. Defending his policy, Sheriff Barrett said of I.C.E., “If they want someone, they can come and get them.”

Kristi Noem or your lyin’ eyes?

Seems likely Alex Pretti was holding a smartphone, not his licensed firearm, which remained concealed. “Calling the two protesters killed in Minneapolis ‘domestic terrorists’ is an insult to the intelligence,” WSJ editor at large Gerard Baker fumes. In addition to pissing off the NRA!

If the words of our top government officials can be so easily disproved by the evidence of our own eyes, faith in the policy is destroyed. — Gerard Baker, “Time for a Cease Fire

Blaska’s Bottom Line— We’ve been saying the same thing about J6. MAGA blood lust does our conservative cause no favors. Emboldened by the “Stolen Election” lie, sycophants are already slandering Mr. Pretti as they did John McCain. A vigorous booing every time Trump & Co. hit below the belt would be ameliorative — not merely for this presidency. Republicans have elections we’d like to win here in next-door Wisconsin.

It remains the case that had Minnesota authorities allowed federal immigration enforcement access to its jails and allowed local police to shepherd protests, no one gets hurt.

Was Socrates right about “all things in moderation”?

Yep, I’m sure simply asking criminal illegal aliens to kindly get into the car works in Blaskaland, but not the real world (we’ll sidestep the issue of being in the country illegally already makes one a criminal, but I digress). I do want to see a thorough investigation into the shootings but ultimately this is all on the Minnesota politicians for not allowing cooperation with ICE. I see Walz and Co have now been implicated in coordinating “ICE watch”. These are not good people.

It’s about time someone points the finger of blame for what’s been going on in Minehaha, Portland, Chicago, etc. where it belongs: straight at Biden. If anyone has blood on his hands it’s that senile old hack. It was only in the few months before the 2024 election that he started noticing that this country has a southern border–a cynical ploy that failed to prevent his wrinkled old a$$ from being kicked to the curb.

If you are the baddest of actors and are already fugitive and rightfully fearful of all law enforcement in these United States… where are you going to go?
Where are you going to hide?
Where must ICE go to find you?
You criminals must run to any and all Democrat/Progressive enablers.
This is as true to all the Muhammed Abd Somalis and the Manuel Lopez Rodriguez etc.
Enforce the law or get out of the way of those who must.
Anyone who must read more into this than that is part of the problem.

Among all the shouting on either side, one central question that I’d like to get to the bottom of is this; what exactly is ICE doing on the ground every day? The Left says they’re rolling into a neighborhood or workplace and simply rounding up people based on their appearance – meaning latino or Asians. If this is true, it’s wrong and needs to stop. (And will absolutely help elect Democrats). On the Right, we’re told that ICE has a list of names of bad guys and is simply tracking them down. How can we know what to believe?

This is the problem, there are numerous documented cases now of ICE and CBP agents arresting legal citizens, residents with legal status and no criminal records, etc. – on some occasions breaking into houses without warrants to do so. Yesterday they even tried to enter the Ecuadorian consulate in Minneapolis without permission. Yet Blaska claims: “It remains the case that had Minnesota authorities allowed federal immigration enforcement access to its jails and allowed local police to shepherd protests, no one gets hurt.” Well – except for all those non-criminals whose legal and Constitutional rights would have still been violated by these agents. There was a good article about this in the Wall Street Journal yesterday – Homan is all about targeted enforcement, but Bovino, Noem, and Stephen Miller went all in on the “broad-sweeps” approach that’s gone far beyond targeting violent criminals, or even residents not here legally. The predicable “it’s all Biden’s fault” reaction of other folks on this page belies the obvious flaws of how this administration has implemented this crackdown (so much for the GOP being the party of “personal responsibility” no?). Reminds me a little of the botched exit from Afghanistan: Democrats tried to claim it was Trump’s fault for being way too lenient in the deal he struck with the Taliban, but two things can be true. It was a bad agreement, but the Biden administration’s execution of that departure was also an utter disaster.

A bunch of protesters are now fighting state troopers at a detention center in TEXAS. Those Texas left-wing pinko commie bastards. All this over just locking up one 5yr old kid in a bunny hat. Funny how grabbing a little kid, flying him across the country and locking him up can piss people off. Even in deep red Texas. But it’s Biden’s fault; or, Maybe it’s because of Bush.

You’re assuming that just because this protest is happening in Texas, all the protestors must be Texan. It’s just as likely that a goodly number are from blue states and some are professional protestors who traveled to the latest protest du jour, which just happens to be in Texas.

Where’s Alex’s gun,his phone’ body cam footage, medical examiner report, autopsy? DHS cut out the cops to do their own investigation? A cover up is in the making. If Dementia Don thinks he has trouble now; just wait.

Problem? The entire cabinet is a corrupt bunch of grifters supported by a do-nothing congress.35billion for DHS and asking for 10 more. Noem bought herself two jets, Patel buys himself BMW’s. SWAT guarding his girlfriend. Free military housing. Hegseth builds a make-up room. Good people quitting because they can’t stand the stench. Bondi and Leavitt are both bimbo fools. They all need to go or Trump will be stamped the worst president in history. They are bringing your guy down and he’s scared shi#$less. Buy your movie tickets yet?

Moderation? What got Socrates into trouble was his espousal of reason over theology. His criticism of the gods of Athens was a huge mistake. That, and his fondness for young men, although homosexuality was accepted in ancient Greece. Poor bugger did not deserve hemlock. He was forced to drink the Kool-Aid.
