Do NOT use them to buy lottery tickets in Mt. Horeb WI!
The faceless bureaucrats here at The Werkes have not forgotten the two scamps who seemed to have quite enjoyed their night on the town back on 12-19-25. Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne, on the other hand, appears to have done just that. Two weeks and four days later, charges have yet to be filed against two of Madison’s most progressive role models.
Madison police wrote up Brandi Grayson-Tuck on three counts of disorderly conduct and one of drunk driving. Mizz Brandi is the generously paid CEO of county human services contractor Urban Triage and a notorious BLM bullhorn blower, as well. Her passenger, Maia Pearson, was pinched for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The lady is vice president of the Madison Metropolitan Board of Education and president of the City of Madison Police Civilian Review Board, that taxpayer-paid police scold.
Law enforcement, on the other hand, had no trouble holding a disabled Vietnam War veteran in the county lock-up for three days over Christmas. Purchasing some WI Lottery tickets as a holiday stocking stuffer, 75-year-old Fred Smith inadvertently included among the bills he handed to a Kwik Trip clerk in Mt. Horeb WI, a gag one-hundred dollar bill featuring Donald Trump’s mug instead of Ben Franklin’s.
Jessica McBride’s Wisconsin Right Now has been tracking this case and — feeling lazier than the night watchman at the Maduro residence — The Werkes devotes today’s blogge to the summation from one of Madison’s most colorful defense attorneys, Chris Van Wagner:
January 5, 2026 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Madison WI
Attorney’s press statement for war hero Fred Smith
Today Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne voluntarily dismissed the forgery case against Viet Nam-era war hero Fred Smith, after the DA took time out of his holiday weekend to personally review the entire matter, amid a growing firestorm of media criticism and public outcry. DA Ozanne concluded (properly) there was no evidence that Fred Smith did anything wrong when he mistakenly handed two $50’s and a novelty Trump $100 to a Kwik Trip cashier to buy scratch-offs for Christmas stocking stuffers.
Fred is again free to buy himself one of those hot, fresh rotisserie chickens (only $6.99 today). Fred, who suffers from severe PTSD and some serious physical infirmities from an attack in the Viet Nam jungle as a grunt in the 60’s, can start to recover from the shame, embarrassment and stress of sitting in the Dane County Jail for three nights over Christmas 2025 away from his loved ones. He meant no harm but endured much, for no good reason.
Fred is grateful to the DA for his personal effort over the long holiday. He is also thankful that Kwik Trip brass quickly reviewed the matter and immediately called on the DA for dismissal, citing Fred’s confusion in the situation, as well as store employees’ expectedly anxious reaction to finding a “fake” $100 in the drawer; and this was after having found Fred’s debit card left behind. KT is committed to making this a teaching moment for its retail cashiers.
Fred is a decorated war veteran, who took five bullets for the rest of us while trapped under a barrage of enemy fire as a teen. … Fred has flashbacks still, but this utterly unnecessary Christmas jailing brought them back full force.
The investigating officer had several options that day, and could have exercised discretion in kinder, more reasonable ways, given the season and given Fred’s cooperation, plus his spotless record. As soon as they told Fred what they knew (an hour later at his home), he apologized in embarrassment … [and] arranged immediate repayment. He cooperated – as one expects from a good soldier, even at 75. … [Mt. Horeb police] was not obligated to haul Fred unceremoniously down to the hazardous, soon-to-be-razed Dane County jail.
Moreover, given the holiday, the officer had to know Fred would sit until Friday … maybe this will also be a teaching moment … For all in the community who have shown support for Fred Smith, a true war hero …, he is deeply grateful. For those who have judged him quickly, baselessly and wrongly, he offers forgiveness. …
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Always pay with credit cards — even for one of those hot, fresh rotisserie chickens (only $6.99 today at Kwik Trip). Or crypto. But hang onto those Trump $100s; may become legal tender any day now. When they do, use them for Brandi’s and Maia’s defense fund, should they ever be charged.
You KNOW nothing will happen. “Ish” is afraid of them intimidating him again, after being targeted in 2020.
Charges will disappear (swept under the rug?) just like Althea Bernstein’s false claims.
No angry black woman ever lost a dime underestimating the lengths guilty white Madison liberals will go to in order to assuage said guilt. In Brandi’s case, the price is a salary nearly double that of the miserable old scarecrow in the governor’s office. But at least a case can be made that the governor “earns” his salary; no such case can be made for Brandi though in fairness, she never looked better (or more at home) than she does in her mug shot.
Unnecessary jailing, my lord police apply choke holds to repeat black offenders in minneapolis for doing the same thing. He is lucky to even be alive, all hail george floyd. Say his name fred smith!
