What brand of smokes is under YOUR Christmas tree this year?

The Right ideas

from ‘the wrong guy.’

News photograph shows Milwaukee Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan leaving the federal courthouse after the third day of trial Wednesday. The injudicious judge is charged with helping an illegal alien escape. Shouldn’t the judge herself be leaving through the secret, backstairs passageway?

You know you’re in trouble when a fellow judge testifies against you and there’s a voice recording of you saying, “I’ll take the heat.” (Didn’t Jimmy Cagney say that?) We predict jury nullification but if convicted, that’s one pardon Trump does not issue.

The legal eagles are probably correct that the administration has no legal justification for putting the “war” back in the War on Drugs in the Caribbean. Run the Coast Guard cutter alongside them, hope there’s no shoot-out, handcuff and put on trial in an American court — that’s what we have been doing while enduring 100,000 drug overdose fatalities annually. Hire their attorney, feed and house them in taxpayer-supported prisons. Rinse & repeat.

Or just blast ‘em out of the water!

The Blaska Plan to end the war in Ukraine! What everyone has been waiting for! Offer Vladimir Putin this option: We’ll let you live — but in exile in North Korea. Extra rations of TP like Ghislaine gets. BTW: Zelensky IS holding high cards: over 30 million of them. Bonus round: Europe is awakening from its long slumber. Trump should take credit for that, at least.

Next time a keyboard warrior patriot claims Rob Reiner wished Trump’s would-be assassin was a better shot — demand to see links. They can’t because there aren’t.

Mr. Trump’s comments were met with universal horror and revulsion. What the President said about the Reiners didn’t diminish them, it diminished him. — Karl Rove, “Trump is setting up a nasty mid-term loss.”

How many … people are likely to thrill to the news that the President is taking shots at a murder victim? — Charles C.W. Cooke, National Review

Who’s in and who’s not

Eric Hovde is not running for governor. Neither is Rebecca Kleefisch, she confirmed.

Victoria LaBrosse is running for mayor of Fitchburg, challenging the incumbent, Julia Arata-Fratta. A mystery man named Islam Khilji has filed for the seat now held by the heroic Madison alder Barbara Harrington McKinney. Hearing that she may NOT seek re-election. Gets tiring, running against Madison’s progressive Uni-Party without a Sensible Dane party.

Good Madison progs blaming their nose-bleed property tax bills on the Republican legislature should be advised that state aid to Madison’s public schools did go down in the 2025-26 budget — but by $14.3 million from a record high $151.3 million in 2024-25. That’s a 10.4% decline compared to a 20.2% increase in the property tax but that burden is worth $80.5 million — five and a half times the decrease in state aids. And the more you tax the lower are state aids. That’s the formula.

Speaking of Madison’s mismanaged public schools, self-loathing progressive Blair Mosner Feltham is running for school board again. She called our schools “products of white supremacy.” She has an opponent in the Spring election.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Curb your enthusiasm! The challenger is yet another DEI faith healer. Dr. Daniella Molle “conducts inquiries related to equitable education for historically under-served students” at the UW School of Education, the very birthplace of critical race theory. Given the season, are there no work houses?

What would happen if thousands of Madison taxpayers
shorted their property tax payments
by a token $5 each installment?
