Madison defunds police by other means.
The indentured servants here in the Orchard Ridge neighborhood wish to thank Police Chief Brian Chaney for keeping us safe. We do so although he is not our chief of police but runs the cop shop over at the City of Monona. We do so to assure Chief Chaney that not everyone here in Madison WI is a knee-jerk, cop-bashing ingrate like the alder who misrepresents our district, Yannette Figueroa Cole.

Alder Figueroa Cole wants to dun the City of Monona some unspecified large dollars as punishment for apprehending an out-of-control driver that on purpose hit a Madison squad car and injured the police officer and his K-9 dog. If the addled alder had her way, she would have let Monona grapple by itself with the nut job who commandeered a stolen tow-truck (of all rides!) and drove it like Mel Gibson in Mad Max, Fury Road.
Such is the ingrained ingratitude toward police of Madison progressives. Because the troublemaker Monona took down was already wanted well before that wild night in late September for outstanding probation and parole warrants.
Never mind. As quoted in our favorite local morning newspaper, Ald. F-C admits she has “been trying to figure out a way to call attention to these pursuits for a while now.”
Monona chases the bad guys
Madison lets them run off. We don’t blame our own chief of police, John Patterson — too much. After all, he draws his paycheck in progressive Madison. But Patterson is no Mike Koval.
With co-sponsors Derek Field, Sabrina Madison, Sean O’Brien, and Regina Vidaver — all of whom are endorsed by the Dane County Democrat(ic) Party — their proposed legislation decries Monona’s

… more aggressive policies which allow for far less restrictions and arguably encourage their officers to engage in pursuits. … caus[ing] additional cost and harm, both economic and physical, to the residents and property owners of the City of Madison.
But Monona police did not pick this fight. The crazed driver had already smashed into “multiple vehicles.” Madison alders would allow that one-truck demolition derby to careen off into the sunset!
• Earlier this month, Monona police also brought to heel a Fitchburg man racing his stolen vehicle down Monona Drive at over 60 mph. On probation for armed robbery who, police said, “had a violent and dangerous history involving the use of firearms.”
• In late November, a 20-year-old Fitchburg man drove 125 mph and weaved in and out of traffic on the Beltline headed north on Rimrock Road. Monona got him before he could get to downtown Madison.
• In early November, a 33-year-old Madison man with a long rap sheet, including armed robbery, was captured driving drunk eastbound on the Beltline from John Nolen Drive, much of that time driving on just the rims. Do not pursue, indeed!
Purely punitive
The City of Madison doesn’t need to take Monona to small claims court. Madison is fully indemnified; the police officer’s injuries are covered by insurance; so, too, the dog. No, this is just another spiteful Defund-the-Police maneuver, poorly disguised as fiscal responsibility.
Ald. Figueroa Cole keeps voting to prop up the dysfunctional and ankle-biting Independent Police Monitor but votes against police-worn body cameras. Hers and the other even-numbered seats, of the 20 aldermanic districts, are up for election this April. Here’s who helped elect her to the Madison Common Council last time:
1) Dane County Democrats, 2) Progressive Dane, 3) AFSCME, 4) South Central AFL-CIO, 5) Families for Justice, 6) Progressive Change, 7) Firefighters 311, 8) Voces de la Frontera, 9) Adelante, 10) Working Families Party, 11) Affordable Housing Action Coalition, 12) 350 Wisconsin Action, 13) Fair Wisconsin, and — explain this to me, please! — 14) Greater Dane County Chamber of Commerce and 15) Downtown Madison Inc. (!!!)
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Where is the organized support for moderate, centrist, pro-safety, low-tax candidates? There is none!

You mentioned them, but I want everybody to see which alders are walking in lock-step with F-C, thus the mayor and progressive Dane.
More elections coming up this spring, but it won’t make any difference in the city of zombies.
Chief Chaney,
Please note the recent resolution by Madison Alder Figueroa Cole decrying your Police Department for your persuit policy does not represent all Madison residents and is nothing but a publicity stunt intended to signal to the residents of her district that she is doing something even it doesn’t change a thing.
You see, she is up for reelection this coming April 2026 and has done little for her constituents. So inventing a crisis and disparaging your pursuit policy is what she unfortunately chose to create.
Many residents of Madison applaud your pursuit policy and wish our own Police Department had the same.
Keep up the good work.

Good moderate common sense people won’t run for office in Dane County because no sane person wants to subject themselves and their family to the progressive shaming machine. Only way to change this is to run a like minded moderate candidate for every office up for re-election and good luck with trying to find people to do that.
Well, Madison police did recently arrest and book into the jail Shadayra Kilroy-Flores, who I think is still on the police civilian oversight board. Enquiring minds want to know what THAT’S all about!
Monona is a model Department. They respect victims as well as the perp. They are engaged in the community and they have the support of the mayor, the common Council, the residents, and the schools. You can’t say any of that about Madison.
Madison is not a community, it is just mass of individual hedonist with no sense of right or wrong. Their only common bond is to hate anything that is conservative and embrace everything is absurd. There is nothing worst than the combination of arrogance and ignorance and that is progressive Madison in a nutshell.
I like it better when police shoot and kill these cretins, jails stay empty and no patty cake with activist judges. Win win.
I would like to inform you that you are this year’s winner of the Pete Hegseth Peace Prize. Medal ceremony will be held at the Willy Street co-op on a date to be determined. Congratulations from our selection committee.
go ahead make my day, Dirty Harry.
I would also like to thank McFarland’s police chief and department for assisting Monona PD. They seem to be better neighbors than Madison.
100% as well as Maple Bluff, Shorewood Hills, etc. etc.
There is no question that Madison is not a good neighbor. Ask anybody in the surrounding villages & cities
Dollar store Shadayra.
Indeed, most of her conduct seems “disorderly”. It is highly unlikely that this is the first time she has “strangulated”. If past victims come forward, she could be revealed to be a “serial strangulator”.
I had the good fortune of working with Chief Chaney on Madison’s Street Use Committee back when he was a police captain with Madison PD. Stand-up guy; professional, smart, and all around great person. Madison’s loss and Monona’s gain when he got the police chief job in Monona.
