We feel for those essential workers who are on the job without a paycheck for nearly six weeks, especially air traffic controllers, more and more of whom are stressing out. Which should raise the question: must passenger planes collide before someone blinks? For the sake of safety, two of every 10 may be cancelled if the shutdown continues — in time for the Thanksgiving holiday!
WI Sen. Ron Johnson again Friday 11-07-25 tried to pay all federal workers — essential and furloughed — but only three Democrats voted with the 53 Republicans, meaning the measure failed to reach the required 60 votes.

It’s all on C-Span, to which we turn more and more to escape the bias of the news media silos, left and right. Sen. Gary Peters, D-Michigan, argued that RoJo’s bill allowed the President to pick and choose who gets paid, which Johnson vigorously denied. Peters’ bill, it turns out, only pays workers for back pay up to the current time. Johnson’s bill pays federal employees now and in future shutdowns.

The irony is that organized labor supports Sen. Johnson’s bill:

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Democrats are still holding out for renewing the supposedly one-time, emergency subsidies to Obamacare, occasioned by the Covid pandemic. Carries a $60 billion price tag over the next two years, serious money. Fixing the health care system, instead of pouring good money after bad, deserves its own debate.

It’s instructive to follow our Rep Pocan’s Facebook account and see how he blatantly lies about the shut down. Likewise Senator Baldwin’s postings. These useless sinecures have no problem receiving and cashing their paychecks while doing nothing for the well being of their constituents and depriving hundreds of thousands of federal workers who are doing their jobs of their pay.
Ever notice how federal policies–especially bloated entitlement programs beloved by Democrats–which are sold as ‘temporary’ or ‘stop-gap’ or ’emergency’ or ‘one time’ end up becoming permanent? Apparently, if you’re entitled to something once, you deserve to be entitled to it for a lifetime. If further proof were needed that the shut-down is a thinly disguised power play by Democrats, their rejection of Sen. Johnson’s proposal should eliminate any lingering doubt. They never tire of portraying themselves as champions of the poor and downtrodden … except when it’s expedient to throw them under the bus, deny them food, or endanger their lives if they step on a plane.

The question here is can the Democratic leaders force their voters to hate Trump even more by not paying them and blaming Trump. Unfortunately the answer is yes. I just drove by a motley group of screaming ninnies on the corner of Park and University today and I thought Jack Nicholson had taken his Cuckoo’s Nest crew out for another excursion. This can happen when sanity and intelligence are not requirements to vote. Tomorrow is Sunday, pray to God it’s not to late.
