An angry man betrays a great man’s memorial service!
The speech by Donald Trump tonight at the memorial for Charlie Kirk was about the worst thing we have ever heard. Angry, vindictive, paranoid, egotistical, discordant, and too gawddamned long, as always (43 minutes). But then, 5 minutes of his insincere rant would have been too long.
Observed that Charlie Kirk preached Don’t Hate Your Enemies. Not for Donald Trump. This unpresidential President said he hated his enemies. Even noted that Charlie — at this point he looks heavenward — would disagree.
“He was a missionary with a noble spirit and a great, great purpose. He did not hate his opponents. He wanted the best for them. That’s where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponent. And I don’t want the best for them.”
The last three sentences seemed ad libbed — a refutation of the speech his White House had written for him. Got to think chief of staff Susie Wiles wanted, for once, a kinder, gentler Trump on a day that was supposed to be about bravery and love. By now, America has learned that the teleprompter is what he is supposed to read; the ad lib is what he really wants to say. More ad lib:
“Erika [Charlie’s widow], you can talk to me and the whole group, but maybe they can convince me that that’s not right, but I can’t stand my opponent.”
Which is one reason he has so many. When will Trump learn not everything is a campaign rally? Again with his election victory on November 5, 2024 — (paraphrasing) the greatest day in history! The greatest victory ever! Me! Me! Me! What do tariffs have to do with Charlie Kirk, Mr. President? But he had to include them in his harangue.
As a Republican, we’re not supposed to criticize one of our own. But cut us some slack: Some Presidents inspire — this one sounds like a Mafia don.
Grace & forgiveness, not retribution
With malice toward some
Trump spoke of “terrible people.” Vows his attorney general will root them out. Charlie Kirk wanted understanding, Donald Trump wants retribution. Charlie Kirk used persuasion; the President demands persecution. Oh for just a touch of Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, who was not on the bill this Sunday night in Phoenix AZ.
His White House speech writers and chief of staff Susie Wiles tried to write their man some thousands points of light but out comes resentment and grievance. Grace and class seem to stick in the President’s throat. Unlike Reagan, when his opponents go low — and go low they have! — Trump goes to the gutter. Yeah, bring a gun to a knife fight, but not at a quasi-religious memorial service for a man Cardinal Timothy Dolan likened (rightly we think) to St. Paul.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Like one of the founders of Christianity, Charlie Kirk brought salvation to unbelievers. The Christians did not conquer with the sword but with The Word: love they neighbor, forgive thine enemies. Erika Kirk forgave her husband’s killer. But Trump can’t forgive Jimmy Kimmel.

Dave, Trump is and has always been an awful person. Has always been my major issue trying to understand my family and others who support him. Policies aside, fercryinoutloud, can’t one find a more conscionable standard bearer?! I’ve agreed to disagree, but I’m still completely and totally mystified as to why people would support such a man. He represents completely and totally the worst of america. As he would say: sad.
Says the bitter man to an empty audience who can’t tell what self-deprecation is – Trump’s way of admitting he’s an imperfect soul. None of the non-Jesus heroes in the Bible were perfect either – wasn’t Paul formerly named Saul??? Jacob, Samson, Peter (denied 3 times), all the disciples fled. The take away should be all the speeches of major politicians (especially Vance and Rubio) talking about their faith instead of focusing on a speech that you weren’t going to like anyway. Erika Kirk rested her head on Trump, so he must not have been that bad for the person that counts the most along with her young children.
Says the bitter man who can’t tell what inspiration might be because he’s never heard it from his master’s voice. The comparison with St. Paul is Charlie Kirk, not Donald Trump. St. Paul repented. Charlie and Paul strove for redemption, The Donald wants revenge.
Stipulate we’re all bitter men. Let’s move on.

trump is a small, petty, corrupt man who surrounds himself with incompetent grifters. His speech???? was a mockery of Kirks death and the grief of his wife. Excuse me there’s two masked men knocking on my door.
I only know of the event from tv reports but it seems like classic yin/yang: the widow forgives, Trump most definitely does not. I once again admire the man’s honesty. American does not need a Biden (or Reagan) eulogy speech full of bullshit.
I think a lot of us have gotten to used to the Madison feminine energy. There’s too much forgiveness. Our local media would report that young Tyler Robinson was only allegedly “experiencing homicidal violence”.
Madison forgives everything, Unless you’ve committed the unpardonable sin of being a conservative, or the double secret unpardonable sin of being a, gasp… Trump voter, or ruining the Wisconsin football program.
Now watch the liberals flock to Kamala after she throws Biden under the bus. Their loyalties are paper thin.

We watched the whole memorial, but after Trump came on had to turn it off. No surprise about that. Trump did not fit in with the purpose and the spirit of the memorial. He was more like a commercial. Shouldn’t have been allowed to speak there.
Trump (or his speechwriters) missed the opportunity to do an FDR Redux. America’s most popular president acknowledged in one of his speeches that he was hated by the oligarchs, plutocrats and millionaires of his day, then he followed up by saying he “welcomed their hate.” A perfect way of denigrating your enemies while maintaining the moral high ground. But then Trump rarely aspires to occupy the high ground and few of his followers expect him to do so.
How many democrats showed and celebrated Charlie Kirk yesterday? Hmm, not one prominent dem? That is way worse than anything Trump said yesterday or did yesterday.
Yes, Democrats are stupid and wrong. But the blog was about Trump. Where you at on his Charlie Kirk performance?

I dont care what he says or how he performed there, he showed up, none of them did and i like his honesty that he does not want his political and foreign enemies to do well. Because i feel the same way, do not like him as a person, and do not agree with him 100 percent of the time.
