Skedaddling to Illinois!

and booing the Pledge of Allegiance!

Playing 9 at Glenway on this fine 5th of August. City course here in the middle of the near west side is guarded by wide swaths of coneflowers, rudbeckia and other prairie plantings. After the round, enjoy a tap brew from the patio overlooking the ninth green.

May score some corn again today from the Stoneman farm on S. Syene Road in Fitchburg. Corn is always young and fresh. Whole family works field and farm stand, often within views of the Scottish Highlander cattle grazing the oak tree-dotted pasture.

Monarch butterflies and hummingbirds loving the Experimental Work Farm’s crop of zinnias. Always have good luck with zinnia seeds. Rudbeckia reseeded themselves from last year’s planting. Gerbils and rabbits have been tamped back (but not eradicated) due to various means that need not be discussed on the record.

All along the Clocktower in Rockford IL

 Smoke from the north

Democrats from the south, we’re stuck in the middle with you. Someone tell those Texas Democrats fleeing a vote on redistricting that the Clocktower Inn in Rockford has been demolished. Not long after Mark Miller and his gang of 14 sought refuge there from voting on Scott Walker’s Act 10. Irony that the Texas skedaddlers alighted in one of the most gerrymandered states in the nation. Illinois went 44% for Donald Trump yet Republicans hold only 3 of the 17 House seats. Even Adam Kinzinger got gerrymandered into a Democrat(ic) district.

“To run to states like New York and Illinois to protest redistricting is like running to Wisconsin to protest cheese.” — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Fox News.

Illinois’ 4th congressional district

Then again, six of eight Wisconsin congressman are Republican in a state that went Trump 49.6% to 48.7%.

No, reverse TDS sufferers, the fleeing Texans are not traitors. Young Abe Lincoln in the Springfield legislature jumped out the window to deny a quorum. Stop using the word “traitors” to define everyone who doesn’t genuflect at Trump’s name. It’s off-putting.

 Speaking of ‘off-putting’

If the organized Resistance to Rep. Bryan Steil’s town hall in Elkhorn made any impression it was that no one does boorishness like Democrats. Even groused about reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. To the irony-free woman asking why Washington D.C. was so uncivil, Steil calmly noted that D.C. reflects the nation. The disputatious high school auditorium in front of him was a case in point. Another asked how the congressman distinguished himself from Trump. Rep. Steil might have said Trump won Wisconsin and won that very congressional district. Blaska would have asked how the interlocutor distinguished herself from Joe Biden or the average dementia patient — before ducking and covering.

Can you identify this idiot? (Roll the tape, Lester!) Even the too-forgiving moderator told him to “Shut up”

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Bryan Steil played them like a circus ringmaster — all reason and light, engaging in fact — not slogans. Despite the disrupters’ provocations, exchanged civility for boorishness. That was their objective, wasn’t it? To generate a viral clip of a Republican office holder losing his cool. Something MSNBC could use?

It’s one reason 63% of America is down on Democrats. Ask the guy making the Nazi salute. On the other hand …

Does anyone really believe
the jobs report was rigged?

Given the frequent revisions I trust job reports as much as I trust whatever numbers make it onto your scorecard today.

    Do YOU count every stroke?

If Dementia Don didn’t fire everyone who gave him bad numbers maybe he could have avoided all his bankruptcies and business failures.

LOL, it shows a lack of creativity to try to pin Joe’s problems on Trump. Just because Joe clearly failed the cognitive test does not mean that same complaint will not stick on the Donald. Come up with your issue against Trump, and a real one. This one looks too much like seeing what sticks…..

Looks like this guy has his hand up waiting to be called upon to ask a question. Turn down the gaslight and be careful with things like this.

Yeah, and yelling Heil Hitler always gets you called on. You are trying to hard to dodge the issues…..

If you put up a pic and ask people to ID this guy you better be ready to defend yourself. This could bite back hard. Look at Mike Flood’s town hall in Neb. Those folks are mad as hell and they are Republicans. Cutting healthcare, higher food prices cuts to Medicaid. SS being taxed. Putting the military on our streets. All of Trump’s BS ain’t playing well The GOP better find a backbone and rein in Dementia Don because the next thing is going to the streets.

For all we know, this could be an AI version of someone – Jim Acosta did it on CNN to a dead kid of 7 years to promote gun control

Oh please; Now you are just embarrassing yourself. Just like all those Republicans demanding answers from Flood is all fake. Tell his voters all their concerns are all fake and wait for their reply. This entire administration is made up of liars and thieves. TACO can’t even play a round of golf without lying and cheating. If you think trump won all those championships with a 2 handicap and cankels so bad he can’t tie his shoes you’re a fool.

“It’s also worth noting that, according to an AP report, Van Orden also appeared to embrace the presence of alcohol in his office the same evening he encountered the capitol pages.”

“Images were posted on social media showing bottles of liquor and beer cans on a desk in his office . Van Orden said on X that the alcohol was from constituents.”

I admit the possibility of dementia was
      speculation on my part.

Mark Pocan made that allegation, without support. “There is no way to prove Derrick was drunk, but this is not behavior a sober or sane person would do.”

        As for the supposed image.

Is one to assume that when Congressman Van Orden hosts beer and cheese gatherings in his D.C. office (assuming he still does) it’s strictly byob? Or is he attempting to shift blame to his constituents?

      2. Richard V Lesiak Avatar

So far Van Orden has done nothing in D.C. NOTHING!!! Well; maybe just embarrass himself and our state. I would love to see a townhall with his voters present. He does have some splain’ to do, but he’s too much of a coward to show up. The page thing was just plain stupid.

WHO, in their right mind would want to go to Illinois in the first place. the FIB’S and their driving, the crime, Da Bears, the Cubs, White Sox are nothing, the Pope, hope he turns out good. other than that, a bunch of Flatlanders.

    1. David Blaska Avatar

Even the Pope left Illinois For Peru! Blaska wishes no harm to anyone, even Texas Democrats. Which is why they should decamp from Illinois immediately to some place safe, like Mexico.
