Why the ‘Abundance’ platform is DOA among Democrats.
A little bell rang, knees jerked, and progressive mouths spit buckets of saliva at the news that a company called QTS wants to build a data center on 615 acres in the very rural Town of Vienna, west of DeForest. As many as 15 buildings could go up after the first five or so in phase one — each building worth $300 to $500 million, eventually employing 450 permanent workers. Gobs of good-paying I.T. jobs!

A good Madison progressive summoned her inner Pavlov by bleating, “ANOTHER CORPORATE LAND GRAB!“
The poor dear is worried about the farmer selling his farm “for 30 pieces of silver” and not preserving the cheerful myths of Chip and Joanna Gaines’ unreality series Back to the Frontier.
This being Dane County WI, the farmer is worried about not being able to sell his farm for a lot more silver due to environmental busybodies like the fretful Madison progressive. Blissfully spared the irony gene, the lady shared her paranoia via the NextDoor on-line social app, which uses stack upon stack of these energy-hogging computer servers.
Update on that lake project
Few if any permanent jobs but the $320 million Madison LakeView project skated through Madison’s City Council Tuesday 07-25-25. Only three of the 20 alders held faith with an ordinance requiring large-scale projects abutting our lakes to go to citywide voter referendum. The three were three Alds. Barbara Harrington-McKinney, Bill Tishler, and Joann Pritchett.
Nothing to see here, folks
One-time liberal law prof Alan Dershowitz is our contemporary flesh and blood Zelig, that Woody Allen chameleon who was everywhere and every thing to everyone. He writes:
I was Jeffrey Epstein’s lawyer. I know the facts, some of which I can’t disclose because it is privileged or subject to court-imposed sealing orders. Epstein never created a “client list.” … It is clear from the evidence that Epstein committed suicide. What isn’t clear is whether he was assisted by jail personnel. That seems likely to me. … Epstein never worked for any intelligence agency. … Sorry to disappoint you.
Prof. Dershowitz could have added, “I was also Donald Trump’s lawyer” in one of his impeachment trials (we forget which). Just for Schlitz and Giggles, we touch base with the visiting team, represented by Joe Walsh at The Social Contract.
The very fact that Donald Trump is pushing back as hard as he is against the release of any relevant evidence in the case suggests that something is amiss. Calling it fake news cooked up by Barack Obama, Jim Comey, and Joe Biden? Telling MAGA world to “move on” from the “hoax”? Demanding that we forget about Epstein — even though he never forgets about anyone ever? It just doesn’t add up.
Abundance of obstruction
Back to Abundance, the book by which Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson argue that Democrats must become the party of economic growth and innovation if they want to win elections. Focuses on the environmental mousetraps preventing Democrat-controlled cities and states from doing much of anything, like California’s high-speed train to nowhere — forcing residents to flee to Republican states like Texas and Florida. Cue on schedule the incipient enviro opposition to the Wisconsin QTS data farm!
Blaska’s Bottom Line: You want abundance? Embrace nuclear energy, promote school choice (tomorrow’s workers gotta read), reduce taxes, reform welfare, control immigration, keep American factories humming, protect our neighborhoods (DO FUND police!), welcome QTS (the next Epic?), and drill, baby, drill! In other words, vote Republican!

Democrat’s are their own worst enemy.
Foxcomm 2.0 Funny that nobody in that town would comment on this. Tossing around some HUGELY bigly numbers Dave. One lady on “next door.? Hardly the cause for alarm. Fun watching the conservatives(????) freak out and then drop to their knees for Dementia Don. Faux news is in a virtual blackout after Trump called everyone stupid and weak. Isn’t it nice to be loved by your hero Dave? Goes well with his “suckers and losers” comment about our troops. They gave Maxwell 20 years and that was 2 years after Epstein was murdered. She is pissed and wants out and that means talking. Also means they will be after her too. I’m surprised you even brought it up Dave We all know that saying Epstein 3 times means a hoard of Ice agents will chase you down take away your citizenship and send you to a country that nobody in trump’s cabinet can pronounce the name of or find on a map.
Beetlejuice, Candyman… good one.
I’m gonna get the papers get the papers get the papers.
BEER BEER BEER!!!!!!!!!!
No one dissembles like Mr. Lesiak. Are you really saying enviros won’t flood the zone with testimony, lawsuits, and picket lines to stop the QTS data center?
That’s what I’m saying. Nobody in that town has any comment. If you think for one second that these guys are going to walk in, drop billions on your headand demand nothing you are goofy. It seems to me that taking one comment by some anonymous person on a site that maybe 5 people look at and running around with your hair on fire IS A BIT OF A STREACH. Save your wrath for Dementia Don tearing up the constitution, but all you right-wingers. love that.
615 acres! Just think how many money trees we could plant there!
Down with corporations, up with nature.
Just think of how many solar panels you could put on 615 acres of farm land.
5 years ago they wanted to put up 2000 acres of panels in the same area. Eco Danes were clutching pearls then too.
I’m all for the QTS data center, provided the humans don’t create anymore anti-Semitic bots like Grok. Note: Grok has since apologized. 🤖
Of course the Madison Lakeway Project “skated” through the Common Council. Gotta love those PFA forever chemicals in the landfill that Law Park sits on. The run-off will end up in Lake Monona and the rest of the four lakes chain.
