CNN obliterates its credibility

Who says? Sources say!

Has a single word ever been sliced, diced, and parsed more obsessively than Donald Trump’s announcement that Iran’s nuclear weapons program has been “obliterated”?

The hated Trump had struck the most decisive blow against nuclear proliferation in history — and against a predator nation. Made Democrats look feckless. The precision bombing was a sit-up and take-notice triumph of technology, human skill, and resolve as compared with Jimmy Carter’s disaster in the desert, Barack Obama’s disappearing red lines, Biden’s shambolic withdrawal from Afghanistan. Must do partisan damage control.

Iran’s nukes weren’t “obliterated.” They’ll be back at it by Tuesday. Who sez? CNN’s sources say!

 Notice the lack of parsing

Actual experts, not just American but Israeli and international nuclear watchdogs, have confirmed that, in the words Thursday 06-26-25 of that cornpone Oxford scholar, Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy, “in technical terms, we knocked the living crap out of our three targets.” (America’s poet laureate is a must watch!)

Real facts are forcing CNN to do more damage control than the Ayatollah’s shovel brigade.

There was Anderson Cooper last night, furiously back-pedaling on a wobbly unicycle in reaction to Pete Hegseth’s tongue-lashing of the Fake Media. His network, the host pleaded, said all along that the damage report from the Iranian strikes was “preliminary” and “low confidence.” Cooper had video to prove it. Problem was his evidence was all from the day before (Wednesday 06-25-25) after CNN’s big scoop had the living crap knocked out of it.

CNN argues that it only reported what it was told. No, its partisan bias made it run with a story it wanted to hear, which is why a rogue Democrat (we presume) chose the cable outlet when he betrayed his security clearance. A truly objective purveyor of information would have handled the report with tweezers and a smidgeon of the skepticism it gave the President’s initial assessment. Instead, the cable news outlet treated the story like the Second Coming.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: The Left blames Trump for sun spots but keeps walking into its own propellers, whether Russian collusion, Hunter’s laptop, and “mostly peaceful” BLM riots. Dishonest legacy media created an audience for the likes of Alex Jones.

If we were as conspiracy-addled as the average Election Denier, we might suspect leaking the early mis-assessment was the work of a Trump trickster, bent on busting CNN’s bunker. For the time being, at least, Anderson and Erin and Jake — momentarily chastened — are not parsing what is meant by “knocking the living crap” out of Iran, having experienced the same colonic cleansing themselves.

One year anniversary of “sharp as a tack” Joe Biden announcing “We finally beat Medicare”.

Why is anyone still paying any attention to legacy media?

    X is the media now.

Jesse Watters latest X post concerns “…Biden opening the southern border to ‘migrant cannibals’” and a reference to Noem’s post about “..eating arms…”. ??!! What a ghoulish circus.

Watters and Noem richly deserve to get sued for defamation.

Incidentally, sorry to hear that airhead DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was briefly hospitalized for a mysterious allergic reaction. At first I thought she’d been eating too much dog meat (RIP Cricket), but she may be allergic to thinking.

I wonder if RFK’s new wearable that he is pushing beeped when she fell ill. He did say he liked whale head stuffed with roadkill. I hope it sends a message when ICE comes to bomb your front door.

    Dave,

You put forward two legitimate questions, but lump them together, when they demand to be taken up separately because they each raise completely different issues.

The first question is whether Iran’s determination to be able to build a deliverable atomic bomb represents a threat that demands to be addressed.

The second question is, if so, whether diplomatic approaches can produce better and less risky results than military approaches.

Obama agreed with you and disagreed with American Firsters, but first sought to ascertain whether he could make meaningful progress diplomatically (though to tbe fair to your position, and to reflect the fact that things overlap in reality). His agreement with Iran essentially kept Iran about one year from being able to develop a bomb.

If the most that massive military attacks can achieve is a six month delay in Iran’s building a bomb, then both Netanyahu and Trump would have lots of egg on their face. That is the question raised by that the initial DIA analysis, and suggestions of actual Israeli analyses. By combining these two separate questions, you seemed to have missed this rather critical point.

I’m not in any way saying that, as of today, there is any hard evidence that the bombing only extended a 3 month window for Iran to build a bomb to 6 months, or years, other than it is patently clear that Trump’s night-of boast that Iran’s nuclear program was obliterated had as much validity as his self-delusion that there were a million and a half people at his first inauguration, and demanded that all press reports conform to his delusion (there were only 250,000).

      Self post-script.

I wanted to add one further point. It is very interesting to recall that prior to Netanyahu’s wildly successful military bombings of Iran and assignations of its generals and scientists, Trump’s clear and unambiguous statements sounded straight out of Obama’s mouth, consistently pushing Netanyahu to give the US time to see what Witkoff’s negotiations with Iran could diplomatically produce in order to avoid the risks that any war incurs. It was only after Netanyahu surprised him by finding Iran was actually militarily hopelessly weak and unable to fight back, that only then did Trump, whose actions consistently resemble those of a bully, turn around and squirm to look like he had gotten back to leading the parade.

Put all this together, and your article that lauds Trump’s actions for piggy backing his bombing Iran — hot on the heels of Netanyahu’s bold/brazen attack –like it was the second coming, resembles Peggy Noonan’s (sexual) ecstasy writing up the awe she felt in 2003 after Bush landed on the air craft carrier in a tight fitting leather jacket with the huge “Mission Accomplished” sign across the runway.

To move past that nasty dig, and come back to a cold and neutral analysis, yes, we may later find out that Trump’s Saturday night bombing did push Iran’s breakout time from Obama’s one year to 2, 3 or 4 years. However, EQUALLY LIKELY, we may also come to later find out that, e.g. like it warned it would do, Iran moved its near-fissionable material to a hidden site and, now doubly motivated to get a nuclear defense, is able to break out in 6 months — half of what it would have been able to under the Obama diplomatic treaty that Trump belittled, but had incurred none of the huge risks any military campaign does (and you need to stop forgetting that Iran is truly malevolently motivated and has many other terror arrows in its quivers that it can deploy it quiet nefarious response in the Straits of Hormuz, or among the dozens of Saudi oil wells like it inflicted in 2018, which Trump was too scared to respond to) .

Peggy Noonan is a smart cookie and I just know she regrets to this day that disastrous mistake she made 22 years ago. Don’t put yourself in the same boat.

The conclusions reached by the initial DIA analysis were made, by their own admission, in low confidence. That report was leaked to Congress by someone who obviously wanted to embarrass Trump, and his detractors are now treating its conclusions as gospel. Time will tell what real damage was done, but I doubt Israel would have agreed to a ceasefire unless they were confident that Iran’s nuclear program was on the ropes.

Hunter’s laptop was Russian disinformation they told us. Biden was sharp as a tack they told us. Our porous southern border wasn’t a big deal they told us. The summer 2020 protests were mostly peaceful they told us. I don’t know why anyone would take them at their word on this.
