The partisan progressive publisher dislikes the Jake Tapper/Alex Thompson book for three reasons that The Werkes can divine:
• It irrefutably documents Joe Biden’s senility even as Fanlund’s Democrats gaslighted America.
• It indicts the news media’s failure to honestly report what unblinkered voters could see with their own eyes — that Joseph Biden was a shuffle away from Jello cups and afternoon bingo at the memory care center.
• The book’s unstated takeaway is that’ Donald Trump’s return to the White House was not only deserved but providential.
That is disaster referenced in the book’s title, “Original Sin: President Biden’s decline, its cover-up, and his disastrous choice to run again.” The election of Donald Trump! The headline in The New Yorker magazine spells out the Left’s near-extinction event this way:
“How Joe Biden handed the presidency to Donald Trump.”
‘A MAGA distraction’
Fanlund reserves most of his bile not for Joe, Jill, or his handlers but for the book’s authors for “giv[ing] MAGA media a distraction.” The publisher excoriates Tapper and Thompson for “refocusing the public’s attention on Biden” instead of Trump. In a quick nod to real journalism, the publisher “takes some solace” that there remain “for now, professional journalists working to report the best version of actual truth they can discover.”
But Mr. Fanlund surely saw what the rest of the nation witnessed — some of it firsthand, as when Biden survived a low wattage rally in the Potemkin Village his tottering campaign set up for him in a middle school gymnasium here in Madison. Sen. Tammy Baldwin could see it; she was a no show.
The irony is that Fanlund, John Nichols, Rachel Maddow, the New York Times, and (yes) Jake Tapper elected Donald Trump. Professional journalist Holman Jenkins discovers the best version of actual truth:
“If the press reported truthfully, everything since 2016 would have been different. … Had journalists been honest … acknowledging what was in front of their faces, the past 10 years would have been completely different. Neither Mr. Biden nor Mr. Trump would probably have ended up his party’s nominee in 2024.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: On top of the Russia Collusion Hoax, Hunter’s laptop, the Wuhan lab leak, and now the senility cover-up, Democrats and their enablers in the news media created the petri dish in which the stolen election myth, etc. can thrive. Don’t blame old Joe. “Joe Biden’s best defense … is that he really was senile,” Holman Jenkins allows. Prompting the Werkes to ask:

I take umbrage at your implication that eating Jello cups occurs when one is suffering dementia. I ate them before.
The Democrat Party enabled Trump to win (big). They (the party leaders) are the real threat to democracy, they “rigged” their primaries, first telling Hillary to step aside for Obama (promised she would be next after him), then setting up the next primary to ace out Bernie Sanders so they could deliver on their promise to Hillary, and then “rigging” the next primary so Joe would be the candidate, and finally “rigging” the 2024 primary by keeping other democrats off the ballots so Joe would again be the nominee. It all came back to bite them big time. The media went along with the “plan” and they have lost whatever credibility they had and now should be ashamed they were a big part of the coverup. What a mess. All this to promote the far left progressive agenda. Lesson learned? Probably not.
