Fantasizing Gov. Tony Evers’ arrest

is a sign our democracy is ailing.

Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, is not going to arrest the governor of Wisconsin. Not unless he finds Tren de Aragua laundering money in the governor’s washroom. Not if he wants to validate the Leftist paranoia that this democracy has become what we used to call the DNR — Damn Near Russia. Not if the Trump administration wants Wisconsin to vote cobalt blue for the next decade.

Arresting our political adversaries, however much a fever dream, only injures democracy and rule of law. This image taken from a social media revenge fantasy.

This blogge is on record that Judge Hannah Dugan was rightly arrested. The Milwaukee judge suspended a scheduled court hearing — she denied the justice that was within her realm — in order to squirrel a wanted fugitive out the back door. She left the state’s prosecutor, witnesses, victims in the lurch to protect an illegal immigrant already deported once by judicial order and now charged with a violent crime. The chief judge of the Milwaukee district said the feds’ administrative warrant was sufficient. Even the left-bound WI Supreme Court suspended Judge Dugan.

 Make more martyrs?

The governor shielded no illegal alien. He did issue a memo directing state employees to contact a state lawyer if immigration officials show up. Gov. Evers’ memo was overly cautious, passive aggressive, and really little more than puffs of progressive smoke signaling. We do take issue with the provision directing employees not to answer questions but that is meat for judicial injunction, not prison in El Salvador. Americans cannot be arrested for stupid policy statements (there are too many) only harmful actions that result from those statements. Judge Dugan went well beyond Evers’ memo — if it is even applicable to the judiciary, which is doubtful.

Yet, MAGA minions are ululating over the prospect of the Democrat(ic) governor doing the perp walk. If they can’t defeat em at the ballot box, put em in handcuffs! Easier than winning minds and hearts.

A sampling from our Facebook feed:

Brittany Butschlee: Good. he is claiming he’s not afraid. You will be once you’re in cuffs.

Laura Mc Pain: I’m not laughing! He SHOULD be arrested and removed!

Jerianne Bowe: A dream come true

Laurie Lautenschlager Berg: Please God

Tom Wood: Love it …I hope to see him wearing an orange suit

Jim Hermann: If it’s true thank God cuff him up and give him life without parole

Jackie Thorson: Make it a pay per view event….. you’d make a fortune!!!!

Cal Gross: Let’s hope so

David Seif: Great, put him in a cell with the MS13 members he’s protecting.

Kate Bruns Gilson: This better be true!!

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Fantasy however hyperbolic leads to action, as scores of school shootings and assassination attempts attest.

Who in Republican leadership
has the stones to call out this nonsense?

Yup saw the same thing on an X thread. No one reads the memo they respond to someone else’s interpretation of what the memo says.

Krebs in under investigation by the DOJ for saying the 2020 election was fair and honest by order of Trump. Johnson, Vos, Evers are getting off easy. If you dare say gas is not $1.62/gal your ass is off to the gulag. First and final warning.

Squire, you (and others) seem to be implying the the governor and Tony Evers are the same person. Keep this up and governor Gau may want a word. I’d like to wish Mr Evers the best as he tries out for the Bears backup quarterback slot. Tony’s legendary throwing skills dovetail well with his youth and integrity.

The miserable old scarecrow looks like he (barely) survived Auschwitz. A regular prison would seem like Club Med.

Consider the source: “I nominate the brave patriots who liberated, however briefly, the Capitol on Jan. 6th. My only regret is that they weren’t armed to the teeth and didn’t leave the Rotunda strewn with the bodies of every Democrat they could lay their hands on…” (May 2021)

Geez Dave, it’s Facebook. Don’t put too much stock on all that chatter.
Anyway, I’d like to know what you think of this Josh Schoemann guy. Certainly an age/image contrast to Montgomery Burns Evers.

Tommy T issued a similar memo (at least to our agency) back in the posse comitatus days. Call a lawyer, keep your mouth shut, don’t tell them they are idiots. The only thing we were supposed to say was our name, and our supervisor. Fun and interesting times if you worked for the state in Shawano County.

The critical difference of course is the Posse had no legal status. I.C.E., on the other hand, is duly constituted and enforcing settled law.

Well, Jim Wickstrom and Don Minniecheske would disagree with you were they still alive. But the principle is the same, don’t say/do much until you checked with the agency attorney. It wasn’t against the law then, and isn’t today. Due process, and all that, you know.

Aside: The scariest one in that group was Don’s wife.

For the uninitiated, it would seem that past Posse shenanigans could be written up and produced as a streaming miniseries. This sounds like a bunch not too concerned with politically correct decorum. Or whether to serve domestic chardonnay at brunch.
