Does Trump want to rip the bandage off?
If history keeps happening, we’ll need to circle every day on the calendar in red. Americans know what happened on 9/11 as well as July 4. June 6 is remembered as D-Day; October 7 for Israel’s nightmare. December 7 is a day that will live in infamy.
So will January 6. Has it really been four years that Donald Trump, lying about losing the 2020 election, triggered the assault on the nation’s Capitol to obstruct a hitherto obscure ceremony — the counting of the presidential electoral votes, as required by the Constitution?

Yes, we’ve heard it before. We’re RINOs for repeating what our lying eyes and reams of court transcripts, sworn testimony, and video evidence attests. It’s all Nancy Pelosi’s fault for not calling out the National Guard. (Like the arsonist blaming the fire department!) An FBI false flag operation (What, one might ask, would that accomplish?) But, but, but “peacefully and patriotically”! That tiny asterisk inserted somewhere in a 75-minute red meat speech! That’s called plausible deniability.
One by one, the lies have been exposed. The makers of 2000 Mules have apologized, their theory debunked. Fox forked over $787 million for lying about Dominion voting machines. Two maligned election workers in Florida are about to get the keys to Rudy Giuliani’s kingdom. Go ahead, believe Sidney Powell and the My Pillow guy rather than Judge Luttig (“Lost, Not Stolen“). Free country, etc. Any ideas on who staged that moon landing? Was it Ray Epps?
If Tucker Carlson has video of Capitol Police giving water bottles to insurrectionists walking on broken glass, might a photograph of John Dillinger frying up bacon and eggs prove he never robbed a bank?

A conspiracy so vast
That everyone is in on it! Does that explain why the Republican governors of Georgia and Arizona and Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos wanted Joe Biden/Kamala Harris to win? That 60+ court decisions affirmed Trump’s defeat? Many of those decisions rendered by judges appointed by Republicans — some of them by Trump himself! The Deep State is everywhere! Even the Wall Street Journal:
Mr. Trump lost in 2020 by three states and tens of thousands of votes. His advisers repeatedly told him there was no evidence of massive ballot fraud. Yet he insisted the election was stolen and that Vice President Mike Pence could halt the count on Jan. 6. That’s why he sent his supporters toward the Capitol.
“He sent his supporters toward the Capitol.“
On Dec. 20 a prison sentence of 48 months was given to 31-year-old Joshua Lee Atwood, who pleaded guilty to assaulting law enforcement. He emptied a can of pepper spray at police, beat them with a pole, and pelted them with objects such as a “metal scaffolding pipe.” He yelled that the cops were “pieces of s—” and “betraying your country.” … This was the brutal reality of the Capitol riot that many want to forget.
Of the 1,600 charged in this insurrection, 1,028 have been adjudicated, with 645 jailed, another 143 given home detention. Wouldn’t ONE of those defendants have stood on the dock and mounted a vigorous defense shepherded by something like O.J.’s dream team? Are there no MAGA billionaires?
Like real Republicans, this RINO could not stomach Kammie and her support for taxpayer-funded sex change operations for criminals. For making HVAC repairmen pay off Beardo the Weirdo’s college loans. A border czar who never visited the porous border. Who covered up Biden’s senescence, lectured Israel, and fanned inflation. We get the binary choice argument but we wasted our lonely vote on the Libertarian ticket. So sue me.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: No excuse that Biden pardoned his boy. If Donald Trump pardons the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers who heeded his call to “fight like hell or we won’t have a country any more” he will be ripping the bandage off a wound still suppurating. No congressional leader — not John Thune or Mike Johnson, not Ron Johnson or Wisconsin’s six GOP congressmen are calling for pardoning the January 6 insurrectionists. Not WI GOP chairman Brian Schimming, not a single Republican governor, nor a conservative talk show hosts of our hearing. Not even Sean Trumpity wants your presidency to self-destruct on Day One.
Instead, Mr. President-elect:
How about paying off Jim Troupis’ legal bills
incurred for defending you?
Hellz bellz, give Rudy grace & favor in one of your towers
before he starts jabbering on New York subways.

Proud to be a RINO!
You’re actually putting January 6th on the same level as Pearl Harbor Day, D-Day, and 9-11? SMFH! How do you think any of survivors of the 1st two (2) would react to that? There still are survivors, and victim family members from the latter; The Gotch suggests you contact them, share your feelings, and report back.
January 6 Should Live In Infamy, BUT NOT FOR THE REASONS Lefty And The News Media Are Telling Us Today

Oops, I guess you had already provided a link to that Ethics Alarms post.

D-day was in defense of liberty. January 6 was a mob attack on Constitutional democracy. Like 9/11, a black day. Your criteria seems to be the casualty count, by which purpose we should be commemorating the Peshtigo fire. I get it, Gotch, you’d rather shove January 6 down the memory hole. At least that shows some awareness of its evil.
“we should be commemorating the Peshtigo fire.”
For his part, The Gotch DOES commemorate the Great Peshtigo Fire, which had the poor moral luck to fall on the same day that Mrs. O’leary’s bovine chose to start kicking some $#!t around. Heck, he’s even trod the ground and seen remnants (owned by clients) that was torched; you?
“I get it, Gotch, you’d rather shove January 6 down the memory hole”
Hardly, and please document your wildly unsupported claim, or issue an appropriate apology. This is much like The Gotch getting accused of defending Trump by his extended family, Lefties all, including the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch. Know what they mean by “defending him”? Neither showing unabated abhorrence toward (say it with me) President-Elect Donald J. Trump, nor cutting him a new @$$hole every waking moment.
I get it Blaska, you want everyone to see this the way you do, and you’re clearly (IMO) troubled that that’s not the case. Also troubling? Legal/ethics scholars (democrats Dershowitz and Turley, Jack Marshall, et al) don’t see it that way, either. Reckon that could only mean one thing, am I right?
They don’t know what they’re talking about.
The Gotch
Thanks for issuing the minority report.
Don’t mention it; and rightbackatcha for documenting your wildly unsupported claim.

Does this mean no more pickles for you Dave?

“But, but, but, but, but, but, but “A Riot Is The Language Of The Unheard”…?”
Yep, that’s what certain members of Congress told us in Summer 2020. Funny how they changed their tune when a riot showed up on their own doorstep.
There are very valid, fact based, non-emotional, differences of opinion on what happened on January 6, 2021 and the aftermath, I tend to agree with the following opinion; read the entire post that goes along with that paragraph.
The peaceful protest turned riot, yes riot, that happened on January 6th was terrible and I don’t condone any of the violence just like I don’t condone any of the Black Lives Matters violent protests, period.
With ever so many real and suspected cases of Democrats malfeasance and illegal activities, why are you so obsessed with your constant writing about January 6? There is no shortage of media outlets ready, willing and able to attack Donald Trump and Republicans so why are you siding with them?
Mike wrote, “…why are you so obsessed with your constant writing about January 6?”
It’s actually not constant in the slightest but it’s clear that January 6th is a real sticking point for Blaska, he’s welcome to his opinion just like you and I; plus this is his blog so he can write about anything he likes.
“lying about losing the 2020 election”
Et tu, Squire?
You can say he claimed without evidence, or more accurately claimed without evidence that a court agreed to here but you cannot logically claim he was lying!
For to do so you would need to prove that the election was all fair and square. You can’t even prove your own vote was counted correctly!
This applies to Trump, Al Gore, Hillary and all other “election deniers”. Hell it applies to Christians too – you can’t logically claim they are lying even it’s good for clicks!
But you do you.
Why can’t you denounce January 6? Are your ethics that situational? That partisan? As for BLM, wrote about almost nothing else through 2020. Look it up.
I’ll ask you the same thing… you seem to think Ray “we gotta in there” Epps was an innocent bystander and the FBI guys had nothing to do with it. Why are you such a deep state puppet?
You see the paranoia? I’m a “Deep State puppet”? But Ray Epps is the mastermind? WOW!
“Not innocent bystander” = “Mastermind”
You’re grasping at straws DB
And paranoia? From the guy who thinks Pelosi’s podium is the seat of power?
“It’s over boys, MAGA has secured the podium. We’ll sign articles of surrender by sundown”
One Eye wrote, “You can n say he claimed without evidence, or more accurately claimed without evidence that a court agreed to here but you cannot logically claim he was lying! That’s an interesting way of looking at that.
A lie is a very specific thing and people do have a bad tendency to sling the word around in politics rather freely. What’s clear to me is that many people think that Trump is NOT free to have and voice his own opinion about the election and if they disagree with him, it’s automatically a lie. What’s also clear, at least to me, is that unethical Democrats took advantage of the COVID pandemic and intentionally bastardized state election laws and in some cases actually broke state election laws.
I really wish I could find the story; I specifically remember that there was a case filed somewhere against how state election officials were bastardizing state election laws and a judge threw it out because they hadn’t actually bastardized any law yet, but yet after the state election officials had actually bastardize the election law without the proper legislation and used their bastardized rules in the actual election the same judge said it was too late to file a new case because nothing could be done post election. There was some really fishy stuff that happened during the 2020 election and it was all unethically rationalized because of the pandemic.
At this point it would be nice to actually understand how the 2020 election was manipulated by bastardization of election laws to prevent it from ever happening again, but trying to prosecute anyone at this point would be futile – we need to learn from it and move forward.
The diabolical attack on Israel by the Hamas terror organization (and some UN operatives) occurred on October 7, correct?
Blaska wrote, “Americans know what happened on 9/11 as well as July 4. June 6 is remembered as D-Day; October 6 for Israel’s nightmare. December 7 is a day that will live in infamy. So will January 6.”
I think you were implying that January 6th will live in infamy and I disagree with that.
1. I don’t believe that the vast majority of Americans know the truth, the whole truth, about what happened on January 6th. To many Americans willingly swallowed the “what happened” narrative they were fed by the main stream media but that’s beginning to shift because there are rather large holes that have been poked through the narrative allow the sun to shine in on the whole truth instead of the narrowly selected narrative.
2. I truthfully don’t think that the level of public awareness of January 6th can be even roughly equated to any of the things you listed. Of course history will prove one of us or both of us wrong.
Personally; I think one of the first things that President Trump should do when he gets in office is to pardon everyone of the non-violent people that took part in the January 6th protest/riot/entry into the capital. There are people that were physically waved into the Capital building by the officers, they walked around a little bit and then left without any violence or property destruction and they’re being persecuted a violent criminals. President Trump should also commute the sentences of those that engaged in violent activity but didn’t physically attack any police officers or other people, those that directly attacked police or others deserve their sentences. He should also direct the Department of Justice to appoint a special investigator to look into the Capital Police Officer shooting that killed Ashli Babbitt, this cannot stand the way it is, it was a classic case of manslaughter, an unlawful shooting.
Steve, my friend, you’re all over the map here. What do YOU think happened on January 6?
I mourn every one of the sixteen windows broken on January sixth.
I grieve at the muddied carpets in the capitol.
Do NOT get me started on Nancy’s podium.
The injured cops. The Hang Mike Pence chants. Josh Hawley running for his life. Any sympathy there?
David Blaska asked, “Steve, my friend, you’re all over the map here. What do YOU think happened on January 6?”
A constitutionally protected protest where some of the protesters (a lot) wrongly chose to riot.
Close, but no cigar, my friend. It’s only a riot if you start breaking things, including heads. But when your purpose is to stop the constitutionally mandated transfer of power and your result succeeds for 12 hours, it’s insurrection/sedition.
I know this exceeds your 250 word preference, I made an effort to shortened it as much as I could without losing important content.
David wrote, “…when your purpose is to stop the constitutionally mandated transfer of power and your result succeeds for 12 hours, it’s insurrection/sedition.”
From my point of view, that’s literally incorrect in multiple ways.
Please follow along with me…
Transfer of Power: a concept important to democratic governments in which the leadership of a government peacefully hands over control of government to a newly-elected leadership.
The best remaining unbastardized* definition of insurrection that I can find is…
Insurrection: an organized attempt by a group of people to defeat their government and take control of their country. This is similar to, but not the same as, a coup.
Sedition: conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.
1. What was taking place in the Joint Session of Congress houses was the constitutionally mandated formal counting the Electoral College votes for President and certification of the results which, by definition, was not a “transfer of power”. What the protesters and rioters did literally did not prevent in any way the transfer of power which didn’t physically take place until Inauguration Day when it was scheduled to take place.
2. Although the term “insurrection” is not explicitly defined by federal law, the Democrats seem to be defining it as simply “a violent uprising or organized resistance against the government or its regulations” but this is far, far to simplistic a definition of insurrection in the United States of America because any protest to address grievances with the government that erupts in any kind of violence or is organized could be considered an insurrection and in the USA that would be anti-constitution. There was no insurrection on January 6, 2021, there was a protest where some made a really bad choice and rioted.
3. There was no sedition on January 6, 2021. What there was was Constitutionally protected free speech(s), regardless if we agree with it or not, the Supreme Court has ruled as such.
What I’m saying is not undermining the violence of the rioters in any way, I abhor what the violent rioters that attacked the police did and I’ve stated multiple times that they deserve the sentences they get from our justice system.
Does that clear up my point of view better?
*unbastardized: I used that word because it was my personal observation that back in 2021 some definitions had been changed after the 1/6/2021 riot to support the Democrats grossly simplified narrative.
Must be a slow blog day to beat the Jan 6 drum again. A riot is a riot– not to be condoned, but “insurrection”? Hardly. Good points by Mike, Gotch, Steve and One Eye.
Progressive tactic – repeat a lie enough times and people will eventually think it’s the truth. See also “fine people” hoax.
Learned it from Rump and MAGANUTS.
You guys are HIIILARIOUS. Still trying to lie your way out of Jan 6 for 4 years and all you’re doing is showing us all the corrupt MAGA d-bags that are now in charge of the country. You re-elected a lying, cheating, 34 time felon, bankrupt, creditor stiffing, grifter and you’re now twisting yourselves into knots because you scared of the chaos that’s coming. Just look at the collection of fools he wants to appoint. Rudy is holding on to his nuts hoping for a day one pardon so he can keep his Yankees hat. And if you think that all this “on day one” crap is really going to happen you’re dumber than you look. dUMP is going to make a crap load of money, get out of jail free and leave you all sucking wind. You guys bought all this trump crap hook-line-sinker and now are trying to defend your own ignorance. In two years all you old, fat hillbillies will be hiding under rocks and saying “trump who?” GOOD LUCK SUCKERS!!!!!
Why don’t you watch Sen. John Kennedy making jokes about the attack in New Orleans? That will show you where your party stands. With tRump on his way in a lot of people here think that can run their mouths about gays, cops, blacks, immigrants, women, Indians, Arabs. Any crap, conspiracy, prejudice, person, place or thing without fear of being called out by anyone. The hate is great in this one and many people follow him because the same hate is in their soul. donny and his troop of billionaires are going to drop a load of s#$t on this country and you will be up all night trying to talk your way out of it. The gop is now in charge of everything so it’s going to be hard to talk their way out of the shitstorm they are bringing.
Squire, I don’t think characterizing you as a RINO is accurate in that you seem to be openly hostile to much progressive foolishness. No, I think you are becoming a QR (Queeg-ian Republican). Insightful, rational, and clever until triggered, and then…
QR: Ahh, but the J6! That’s – that’s where I had him. They laughed at me and made jokes, but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with – geometric logic – that an insurrection to the election DID exist! And I’d have PRODUCED that evidence if they hadn’t’ve pulled the J6 investigation out of action! I, I, I know now they were only trying to protect some fellow Republicans –
[breaks off in horror, becomes hesitant]
QR : : Umm… naturally, I can only cover these things roughly, from – main stream media…but if I’ve left anything out… why, you just ask me – specific questions and I’ll be – perfectly happy to answer them… one by one.
[pulls two tiny metal balls from his pocket, begins to roll them around between his fingers]
Maybe this bit of timelyness from The Federalist will help.
Yo, nemo; ardently well-intended efforts will do little for True Believers, whose Evangelical fervor prevents a steadfastly unquestioning certainty (even in the face of evidence) from being sullied by any facts.
