Packers need a back-up, STAT!
We’ll be watching to see if Aaron Rodgers lasts past the first commercial timeout in Monday night’s game at San Francisco. Remember when an old man’s lumbago would act up? What the hell is a lumbago and why is it such a pain in the &SS?
Which brings us to Jordan Love. After last season, the Green Bay Packers showered a four-year contract worth $220 million on the young man. Which means the Gods Must Be Crazy. With 6 seconds left in the game against Philadelphia in far-away Brazil, two defenders said “make a wish” and “pop” goes young Love’s knee. Fans worry that “poof” goes the season. So far, sounds like cartilage damage. Someone call AFLAC!
This team owner would like to know, who is our back up quarterback? Is it Zeke Bratkowski? (Deceased? Damn!) We’ve lost track since the Pack went through at least two QBs during training camp (plus a few place kickers) before picking up Some Other Guy, who cost the Packers only a 7th round draft pick and a dozen bratwursts. (For $100 and the game: Who is Malik Willis?)
Who said the Packers were among the most well run sports franchises? (We did?)
The Packers, reeling from the salary-cap impact of trading Aaron Rodgers, didn’t have the money to pursue the likes of Jacoby Brissett (one year, $8 million with Washington) … or a player they once coveted, Drew Lock (one year, $4 million with Seattle). — Sports Illustrated 13 months ago

The position is too important
From the sidelines of our b&w Philco, the coach couches at Stately Blaska Manor hold that NFL teams should pay more attention to their back-up quarterbacks. The Steelers have Russell Wilson, who might have a few good years left in him, and Justin Fields, who showed real promise with the impatient Bears. Either could start.
The Indy Colts are backed up by Joe Flacco, a past Super Bowl winner. Backing up Bryce Young for the Carolina Panthers is Andy Dalton, a former starter for Cincy. Cleveland has Jameis Winston, a former Number One pick, for when the Browns get tired of Deshaun Watson’s act. First-round pick Michael Penix Jr., out of the Washington Huskies (last season’s college football playoffs runner-up), backs ups Kirk Cousins for the Falcons. (Watch those roles flip during the season.) Carson Wentz, another former starter, can spell Patrick Mahomes in K.C. And should do so often. Like when your team is two TDs ahead starting the fourth quarter.
Take the starter out, keep him out of harm’s way for 15 minutes, give the other guy some reps. Unless you don’t trust your backup QB, in which case, clear out his locker.
Blaska’s Bottom Line Judge: Look at it this way: Did the Brewers rely on Brandon Woodruff to start every game or do they have a stable of pitchers? Sure, Major League Baseball plays 162 games in the regular season, alone. But two tons of angry beef are not streaming toward the pitcher’s mound with malice aforethought on every pitch.

Kaepernick and Uncle Rico are both available.
GO BEARS…Comeback kids. Chicago 1-Green Bay 0.
The defense deserves the game ball. Same old Bear offense, different QB.
What’s Magic Man doing these days?
It might be a long season watching the Packers and the Badgers.
From one owner to another: this is one of your best posts ever. Thank you, Sir!
