Democrats for real fear Donald Trump’s retribution. They hear that knock at midnight. They cannot surrender the presidency. This time, it’s existential. Joe Biden was trailing Trump even before doing his impression of a cadaver on CNN; his unsuitability for high office is now baked in.
A grass roots rebellion
Congressional candidates in purple districts, governors in swing states, big money donors, old warriors like David Axelrod and James Carville, along with publications like NY Times* are beating a steady drumbeat that the DNC, Pelosi, Schumer, and the Obamas cannot ignore. The unrest is bubbling up like Bromo Seltzer (another old reference) to the deciders. They will go to Jill Biden and say, you can do it the easy way or the hard way. Your choice.

It’s an attractive proposition: Release your delegates, President Biden. Read the Teleprompter one last time at the Chicago convention, bask in the delegates’ rapturous praise, and second the nomination of Fill In The Blank. Avoid more humiliations. Or not. Democrats can do it the hard way. They give their delegates an out for “conscience.”

As for the phone call to Brad Raffensperger asking him to find 11,780 votes? Could be argued that all Trump was asking was for a forensic audit. “All I need is (pause as he consults his cheat sheet) 11,780 votes.” Hey, I’m close. Take another look!
What is an official act and what is not? That’s a judicial, out-of-control merry-go-round. (Or the escalator at American Family Field, for that matter.) Call to Zelensky? Official act. Imploring Mike Pence to “do the right thing”? Official act. Hellz bellz, pardoning that Thanksgiving turkey is an official act. What about Truman dropping Little Boy on Hiroshima? FDR interning Japanese-Americans? Lincoln suspending habeas corpus? Reagan’s Iran-Contra? Obama’s Operation Fast & Furious? Prosecutable crimes?
Again, Congress still has the impeachment power. The voters have the final say.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: We said six months ago that Democrats would pull Joe Biden over to the side of the road. Trump was beating Biden like a rented mule. Trump would have more trouble with a say, Gretchen Whitmer or Amy Klobuchar. A floor fight between Kamala and Michelle beats a Democrat funeral Mass in November.

If Mr. Biden is reticent to do his handler’s bidding and go away, I expect the DOJ can sit him down with voluminous evidence of his chicanery (10% for the Big Guy, 43 shell corporations laundering money etc.), and make a compelling case for him to choose a caterer for his retirement party.
If you can believe the Brits at the Daily Mail, Wisconsin cannot change the presidential ballot unless the candidate dies. How conservatives could make it very hard for Democrats to replace Biden on the 2024 ballot if he has a disastrous debate or steps aside | Daily Mail Online . Other states have restrictions as well. So getting Joe to quit might be the easy part. Getting someone else on the ballot in some swings states might make it impossible for another democratic to win.

Franken was under pressure from “Me Too” faker Senator Kirsten Gillibrand but this doesn’t change the fact that he resigned of his own accord, a decision he came to regret.
