The criminal defendant never took the stand during his Stormy Daniels trial — where he would be obliged to tell the truth — because lying under oath is penalized as perjury whereas in politics it is sometimes rewarded with the oath of office. We have posited before that Alvin Bragg’s partisan lawfare is ripe for appeal. Everything from the underlying premise of the supposed crime — a nested Russian doll of a case — to the judge’s jury instructions are justiciable.
What is undeniable is that Donald Trump is a pathological liar.

Consider: It would subject the defendant to no legal jeopardy to stipulate that, yes, Stormy and I did an up-close and personal. Would have spared a lot of salacious and embarrassing testimony if, for once, Trump could tell the truth. O.K., WE DID IT! And it was glorious! No bearing on the concealment of the hush money payments in an illegal effort to influence an election. Two consenting adults, et cetera.
We’ll ask our customary bottomline question here: Does anyone believe he didn’t have extra-marital sexual congress, as Trump still insists? We turn to today’s Wall Street Journal. (We know: “fake news.”) In year one as First Lady, Melania Trump’s press secretary alerted her that the Stormy Daniels story would break.

In the week that followed, though, she saw glimpses of the First Lady as a “pissed-off spouse.” She edited mention of her husband out of a tweet commemorating his first year in office. She tweeted a photo of herself “on the arm of a handsome military aide.”
Weeks later, as more details emerged about the hush payments, the First Lady called Grisham as they prepared to fly down to Mar-a-Lago for the weekend to say she wanted to drive to Air Force One ahead of the President. “I do not want to be like Hillary Clinton, do you understand what I mean?” Grisham recalled Melania Trump telling her.
“She [Hillary] walked to Marine One holding hands with the husband after the Monica news and it did not look good.”
‘Wow! Do you believe that!’
Later in the Wall Street Journal’s narrative, Michael Cohen takes a phone call from Trump. The First Lady was also on the call. Trump asked him why he’d paid Daniels, according to Cohen.
“Wow, Melania, do you believe that? He took $130,000 out of his [own] pocket! …
Cohen said in his deposition that he knew the conversation was for Melania Trump’s benefit and that she saw through the lies. He was right. The First Lady privately said she didn’t believe her husband’s denials. Of Cohen’s claim that he had acted alone, Melania Trump said, “Oh, please, are you kidding me! I don’t believe any of that bullshit,” according to Grisham, her former aide.
Blaska’s 2nd Bottom Line: Kind of puts shade to Trump’s taunt of Nikki Haley (“Where’s your husband?”) (He was fighting overseas for America.)

Dave, I believe I understand your frustration with Donald Trump. He provides challenges to many of us with his name-calling, exaggerations, and other actions. By no means is he not without some rather extreme faults. However, I have to look at President Biden; and I have to evaluate him under the same microscope. He also presents some very troubling behaviors. Between; President Biden’s “socialistic” behaviors’ , and his propensity to lie as well; I have to admit that my “heartburn” is significantly worse with President Biden than Donald Trump.
At the end of the day, I feel that President Biden has very little if any concerns for what I feel is important. Whose ego and desire for privilege and power is more dangerous. In my heart, Biden is the worse by a mile.
