A new Marquette Law School Poll of Wisconsin voters finds a tie between Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. Each are supported by 49% of registered voters. Among the somewhat smaller group who are considered likely voters, Trump is at 50% and Biden at 49%. In November, Biden received 50% and Trump 48% among both registered and likely voters.
In a head-to-head match against Biden, Republican candidate Nikki Haley continues to hold sizable advantageas the choice of 57% registered voters, compared to 41% who chose Biden. Among likely voters, Haley receives 57% and Biden 42%. In November, 53% of registered voters favored Haley compared to 44% who chose Biden.
Haley continues to hold large lead over Biden in hypothetical matchup but wins just 22% in Republican primary polling.
When third-party candidates are included, Trump receives 40% and Biden 37% among registered voters. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. receives 16%, Green Party candidate Jill Stein is the choice of 4%, and independent candidate Cornel West receives 2%.
Among likely voters in the five-way race, Trump is the choice of 41%, Biden 39%, Kennedy 13%, Stein 4%, and West 2%.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Haley’s secret sauce: she wins independents 58% to 36% over Biden, whereas Trump loses indies 42% to 49%.

Nobody wants to listen but Trump cannot win the independent vote. A republican cannot won without the independent vote.
Unfortunately Nikki cannot win the republican vote.

The “Damning justice department report” is worrying. I really want Joe at the top of the ticket to ensure that 45 becomes 47 and extend President Trump’s coattails by dragging down lower ballot Dems (Hi Tammy! How’s life as a useless backbencher?). Now that the DOJ has successfully used the Dementia Defense to clear Joe, I’m increasingly afraid the 25th Amendment will spoil all the fun. My hope is that Joe can buy off the vice president and enough of the cabinet but this is also not without peril. My understanding is that Joe Biden is not well versed in the supply side of bribes.
As for Haley, she’s done. Any poll that has as it’s premise her winning the GOP nomination is nothing more than fan fiction combined with alt history. Pat Paulsen has a better chance at getting the Republican nomination and he’s a comedian, a democrat, and has been dead for a quarter of a century.

The question is whether Trump can win the swing states. He lost Wisconsin last time. S. Carolina is in the Republican camp even if Mitt Romney was the nominee.
