That’s why they play the game!
Is the Green Bay Packer brass clairvoyant? Do GM Brian Gutekunst and President Mark Murphy live in the future, that place where they don’t need roads thanks to Mr. Fusion and the flux capacitor?
Back in April, when they decided to part company with their franchise quarterback after 18 years, had they just returned from MetLife Field in New Jersey on September 11 in the DeLorean? Did they see Aaron Rodgers go down with a season-ending achilles heel injury only four plays into the game? Four plays — only three of them official — into the first game of a three-year contract?
→ Rodgers to miss rest of season with torn achilles tendon. (Wish this on no one.) — Report here.
Did they know that Rodgers’ tank was empty at age 39 after decades of pounding at the professional, collegiate, and high school level? Did they foresee that the sport’s most interesting man might be damaged goods? A brittle house of cards needing only a good puff to come tumbling down? (That sack Monday night did not look THAT vicious.)
Saying I told you so after the success of Rodgers’ Packers under-study, Jordan Love, and his league-leading (albeit, one game into the season) 123.2 passer rating in the 38-20 beat down of the Bears?
Clinking beer steins at 1265 Lombardi Avenue that they got out from under Rodgers’ three-year, roster-busting $150.8 million contract? Chortling at how they picked the Jets’ pockets by landing Jets high draft picks, taking in the 1st round pick at #13 linebacker Lukas Van Ness, the second round at #42 tight end Luke Musgrave, and kicker Anders Carlson in the sixth round. Plus, the Jets owe us their second round pick in the next draft. Would have been a first rounder if Rodgers had played 65% of the season. Put another way:
• Packers got the 13th, 42nd, and 207th picks in this year’s draft and the Jets’s second pick in next year’s draft.
• Jets got Rodgers (his bum achilles tendon and high salary) and the Packers’ 15th and 170th picks.

The buzz in New York was electric as Aaron Rodgers was set to make his Jets debut on the 22nd anniversary of 9/11. He took the American flag out of the tunnel as he was introduced for the first time to the Jets fans in Meadowlands, but the stadium was silenced on New York’s fourth offensive play of the game as Rodgers went down with a lower leg injury.

The Jets beat the Buffalo Bills anyway with a young quarterback supposedly reduced to clipboard duty after Rodgers’ heralded arrival as its next Joe Namath … or Brett Favre. Thanks to a punt run back in overtime by a rookie who almost didn’t make the team. Final score 22-16, NY Jets over the Bills.
Packer-owner Blaska’s Bottom Line: Funny how life works that way. There is no sure thing, that is fer damn shure. (Now we know why Rodgers was eager to get Packers all-pro offensive tackle Adam Bakhtiari.)

Can’t see A-Rod coming back from this…ever!
The only way this could have been more tragic is if it had happened on one of the 1st three plays.
Not too much of a stretch to believe that there are a lot of people who are positively giddy about this certifiably dreadful turn of events; the Jet’s organization, it’s fan base, and The Gotch are not among them.

Indeed that sack was not that vicious. IMHO that is the saving grace – it was inevitable. Barring an ayahuasca fueled vision where Vince Lombardi tells him to go to the Dagobah system, we’ve seen the last of A Aron on the playing field.
Have already seen one SJW imploring the Jets to sign Kaepernick. Not gonna happen but they do need to get someone.
ACLs & Achilles tears aren’t that often the result of vicious hits, and the sufferers are usually able to make their way off the field with little to no help.

Who, despicable, Über moron, RAYcist, Lefty (forgive the redundancy) Stephen Smith?

The label: “greatest to play the game” and all that money went to his head, but he gave us many years of great football. I feel bad for him– and our lost first round pick!
I think future Hall of Famer ARod will class up the joint.
I believe he ran onto the field bearing the American flag as an invitation to Packers management to use their collective butt as a flag holder rather than as a promoter of social justice and BLM matters.
“Stay in the locker room… no run out and hold hands… no, do the hokey pokey against police brutality… no, wear pink cleats against trans phobia.’
Not that I’m bitter. We are so much more united than before.
Mr. Kennedy? Dylan Mulvaney on line one.
Nice to hear from you, ex!
