(No taxpayer dollars went into the manufacture of this blog)
It’s right there in the headline: “Wisconsin Republicans commit more than $1.8 million in taxpayer funds to defend GOP-drawn legislative maps.” (EXTRA EXTRA, read allaboudit!)
We admit, the sensitivity of our journalism bias detector is turned up to 11. But the State Journal repeats the word “taxpayer” five more times to drill home the message, that message being: Republicans BAD! Wasting taxpayer dollars.”
Did the State of Wisconsin’s newspaper of record use the “taxpayer funds” pejorative in describing the $266 million the mayor of Madison wants to spend on doubling “affordable housing” (among other things)? No! Affordable housing GOOD! Not festering crime magnets!

The Head Groundskeeper did not fall off the turnip truck yesterday. (But it hurt like hell when he did!) The State Journal wants some non-partisan board to draw legislative districts. (Non-partisan like the WI Elections Board, mebbe?) So their news reporters and headline writers can’t go wrong in twisting the knife in the direction their bosses want it twisted.
Here’s the thing: Republican legislators are not suing themselves. Something called Law Forward is the lead complainant. Funded by taxpayer-supported Democrats. Their lead attorney is a guest on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show. Fought to maintain ballot drop boxes. Their target is a State of Wisconsin entity, the legislature.
So who is supposed to defend the legislature’s maps, WI Attorney General Josh Kaul, a Democrat? He’ll put his least competent lawyer on the job, set him up in the basement, and take away his red stapler. (But he’ll be allowed to listen to the radio at a reasonable volume.)
Bonus platinum subscriber effluvia: Was Trump right to demand Zelensky look into Hunter Biden? “Defense minister’s ouster shows graft Is a persistent headache for Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky’s removal of the minister was a reminder of the enduring challenge of corruption in Ukraine’s military.” (Read & Weep!)
Blaska’s Bottom Line: The current legislative maps were adopted after the U.S. Supreme Court threw out Gov. Tony Evers’ maps. He’s a Democrat, too. Paid with taxpayer dollars.

It’s all taxpayer money. Have we become so stupid not to understand that anything government does they do with taxpayer money unless they just print more that makes all of it buy less.

why not just draw fair maps and save all the lawsuits, appeals and judge shopping.
Effluvial – Ukraine, upstanding pillar of incorruptibility on the international scene, led by Saint Winston Zelenskyy, is not spending billions of un-auditable US $$$. The Saint is most definitely not stashing 10s of $million$ into offshore accounts and houses around the world.
Zelenskyy is “shocked, just shocked” that those close to him are involved in corruption. “How could this be happening?” asked the leader of the Ukraine, while playing the piano with his middle leg.
