Is Trump suffering dementia?
His presidency may have been a shambles but his post-presidency is a thing of wonder. Talking Jimmy Carter, here, my RITO acquaintances. Now he seems destined to set the record for longevity under hospice care.
Carter’s presidency, it could be argued, was done in by that photograph showing him near collapse after a foolish and punishing jog — held up at each elbow by his Secret Service. Made him look ridiculous and, as the big shot movie producer Woltz told Tom Hagen, a man in his position can’t afford to look ri-dick-a-luss!
That is what is sinking the most recent one-and-done President. That photograph of boxes of Top Secret documents piled deep in the Mar-a-Lago loo. Right next to the Preparation H and the worn copy of the Playboy magazine of The Donald sharing the cover (but not the centerfold) with one of Hef’s bunnies.
#45 is becoming a punch line. Mike Dukakis in a too-big helmet doing crazy eights in that Army tank — ri-dick-a-luss! It’s why JFK refused to wear that Indian head dress the last day of his life in Fort Worth TX. A man in his position couldn’t afford to look ri-dick-a-luss!
“Remember those guys in high school?” Jack Shafer asks over at Politico.
… who got a buzz from smashing windows, or sending firecrackers down flushing toilets, or throwing rocks at dogs and cats, and shoplifting for the pure rush of it? They didn’t have a reason for their vandalism or malice, they just lacked the “impulse control,” as the school shrinks liked to say, to inhibit whatever imagined mayhem or destructive mischief popped into their brain. Former President Donald Trump is that guy, six decades older, but still that guy.”

Becoming a punch line
Chris Christie got his otherwise stoic CNN town hall audience chuckling Monday 06-12-23 as he described Trump’s 2020 Election Night claim that “We were getting ready to win. Frankly, we did win.”
Look, that’s like when your kid comes home from school with a bad grade, and you’re like, “Well, how did this happen?”
“The teacher’s unfair.”
(LAUGHTER)
“The — the test was rigged. It was none of the stuff that she told us to study. And — and — and the guy next to me was talking the entire time and distracting me, and that’s why I did bad on the test.”
That is a child. It’s a child. That’s a child’s reaction, everybody. Every parent out there recognizes it, knows it. [Mocking] “WE WERE ABOUT TO WIN!”
Same with that photo of boxes in the Mar-a-Lago loo. He’s a hoarder! Ri-dick-a-luss!
The man can't get out of his own way!
Didn’t sell his secrets to the Rooskies like Robert Hanssen or Aldrich Ames. Like miniature Eiffel Towers from that trip to Paris, Trump just wanted them around, tchotchkes from those glory days at the White House. I’ve got a secret and you don’t! Petty, vainglorious, childish, and foolish. SMALL! Whether he was entitled to those documents or not, the Wall Street Journal concludes, “once he received a subpoena for those documents, Mr. Trump should have known he was at legal peril if he concealed them or lied about having them. Yet … that is precisely what he did” — in a recording!
Blaska’s Bottom Line: They no longer fear you when they are laughing at you!

It was, as one of my favorite writers once said, “incandescently stupid.”
If convicted, will he have secret service bunkmates?
As I wrote on Twitter…

It’s only relevant in a strictly legal and partisan political sense if Trump was unfairly targeted in a FBI and Justice Department weaponization witch hunt, personally I think he was singled out. All that aside, Trump made his own choices and now it’s time for Trump to deal with the consequences of his choices.
I do not support the choices Trump made with regards to the documents he had that were marked Top Secret, Secret and Confidential regardless if he actually declassified them when he was President. All Trump had to do was to work with the government and give all the documents back last year when they asked and subpoenaed them and Trump would not have been indicted for possessing them and having likely made false statements regarding them. He could always negotiate to regain copies of some or all of the documents for his Presidential Library at a later date but it what took place was as if he was intentionally trolling the government and prodding them to take it this far so he could try to use it as a some kind of “I’m being mistreated” political slogan.
Here is a pointed statement that will likely anger some Trump supporters,
“Being mistreated is no excuse to engage in behaviors that are considered to be illegal.”
Choices have consequences.
In my opinion, it’s time for Trump supporters to politically cut the umbilical cord and force the loose cannon mouthed narcissist to fight his own battles. Stop feeding the political troll. Free up all that space that Trump is occupying in your head, there are better candidates out there just open your ears and listen.
I’ve made my choice.
I’ll not support Trump in the GOP primaries, period. If Trump gets the GOP nomination and the candidates for President in 2024 are Biden vs Trump, I won’t vote for either of them, period.
There, I’ve drawn my line in the sand, let the mud slinging commence.
“let the mud slinging commence.”
None from this corner, far from it; matter-a-fact, for his reaction The Gotch’ll toss it over to Delmar O’Donnell (Tim Blake Nelson in O Brother Where Art Thou)

Carter was “done in by that photograph showing him near collapse after a foolish and punishing jog”? Au contraire, he was done in by a killer swamp rabbit (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Carter_rabbit_incident). (Yes, Trump has had his own run-ins with bunnies, but his problems lie elsewhere.) I’m reminded now of what a great cartoonist Jeff McNelly was: http://www.jeff-macnelly.com/images/Brer_Carter_72a.jpg.
Carter was done in by the US Military failing to understand that helicopters and sand don’t mix.
When you commit a crime, all the evidence points to you and admit to the crime then of course you are singled out. It’s to the point that he can’t even keep a lawyer. Question is when will the gop stop shoveling money into this bottomless pit of grift.
Failing an assassination, Trump will be the nominee.
Question is, who will replace Biden?
Gavin/Kennedy. If the gop is stupid enough to run tRump they will lose the WH, House, Senate. A repeat of the mess rump caused before.

why is that stupid?

That’s it crotch? Some obscure Latin phrase that means nothing “The thing speaks for itself”. Just like what you posted. No meaning. No explanation
Just nonsense that makes you feel like you are a big man. You contribute nothing to the conversation except your feeble, juvenile attacks on me. Everyone knows you’re a fool. Sit on your decks and make pickles old man. Stop embarrassing yourself.
The breathtakingly viscous irony through which Lazy @$$ Blogge Idiot TROLT had to slog to type that particularly imbecilic slobbering?
Priceless!
The Gotch
Trump has already declared that he will run, even if assassinated!
funny..and he will still be collecting donations too.
The sympathy vote!
now that’s funny.
Yes, presidential assassination ideation has always been hilarious.

correct Meade. “hang mike pence.” remember that.
I remember 1963. I remember 1968. I remember 1981. Were you even alive, Richard? Sober? Did you pray for Reagan to survive? Or were you hoping the bullet found its target.
I remember 2000. So happy President Bartlet survived.
Josh Lynam? Eh.
plus, he got a Golden Globe Award.
The moron you address epitomizes everything Lefty detests: Uneducated, poor, 76 year-old white boy.
Yet he clings to those who despise him like stink clings to $#!t; go figure.
The Gotch
doing your Eric Trump imitation again I see.
Don’t you read crotch’s posts. I’m 76 and certainly remember all those events. No! I did not pray for Reagan. I hoped he survived and he did. Did I wish that he died? That is just a stoopid question.
Here is something everyone on both sides of the political divide should read and learn from…
Why Donald Trump Cannot Get a Top-Tier Lawyer
It’s interesting that the political left is constantly accusing Donald Trump and Republicans of being a threat to our Republic but yet they are actually the ones that are actually taking real world actions to bastardize and/or undermine everything our Republic is built upon.
That website is so trustworthy my antivirus software warned me not to go on it. It’s probably a conspiracy to keep the truth from me. Those darn Marxists are everywhere.
thanks for the tip.

Hogwash.
Substack is a solid trustworthy platform across the board and no antivirus software is going to flag it.
Were you being facetious?
“Substack is a solid trustworthy platform across the board and no antivirus software is going to flag it.”
Yup! Real REAL scary Inconvenient Truth leaves Lefty no recourse but to run for the hills.
Rollie’s humorous whiff flew far over the ground hugging, empty head of the Lazy @$$ Blogge Idiot TROLT who, to no one’s surprise, embraced it as lock-steppin’, glassy-eyin’, unquestionin’ despicable Lefty Gospel.
#PitiablyPathetic!

No, it really did warn me and blocked the site. But I thought it was funny so I posted it. I think my software is a bit too cautious – I’m still trying to get my settings right:)

WOW!!!!!!!
What antivirus software and browser are you using?
Try going to http://www.substack.com and search for Alan Dershowitz and then you should see the following link on the page…

None of this sounds out of proportion to anyone here?
How many papers did Biden have? How many state secrets did Killary have on her open-to-the-public server? How many papers does Obama, Cheney, Clinton, etc etc etc have? Prosecuted, in the main, under the Espionage Act? Anyone really think Trump was going to sell secrets to our enemies?
The first time in US history the opposing party’s main candidate is being indicted?
Blinded by personality, expressed opinions are variations on a lynch mob.
I don’t give a flying f about Trump as a personality. I do care about how this is being carried out. This will not end well for anyone.
Yeah, they should have been indicted too. I don’t know why Trump’s Justice Department didn’t do it. It’s certainly not, as R. Johnson says, because they were trying to be nice. Trump ran on this issue, and clearly and repeatedly hammered on how important records classification law was. Wasn’t he supposed to “lock her up”?
Perhaps the Justice Dept. ultimately found that they didn’t have enough evidence and didn’t want to be laughed out of court. It’s way more fun to say this stuff out of court than be forced to actually use facts and be challenged with facts. If they took it to court the issue would be settled, but by not the issue can live forever! Political gold!
Guess what, regular everyday liberals will generally not give a hoot if Clinton or Biden are charged with crimes. It’s not a cult of personality. So go ahead and charge them too. They can defend themselves in court. Ds will just pick a different person to nominate.
“Anyone really think Trump was going to sell secrets to our enemies?”
Yeah, I do. He’s not trustworthy. Jared already got a $2 billion “investment”, think none of that flows to daddy?
Of the 37 counts against Trump, 31 are about secret documents and his handling of them. But the other six are about lying to prosecutors and obstructing the investigation. Perhaps Hillary was guilty of the same, but she wasn’t caught blatantly lying.
No, I don’t think Trump was selling secrets, but that’s what is so stupid about the whole thing. Why did he take them and then lie about it? It seems so he could brag about it and show them off, I guess. Incandescently stupid.
But now, I’m with Paul Ryan. I don’t want to spend the next 16 months defending and promoting a guy who cannot win and is too stupid to avoid self inflicted wounds.
And what makes trump even more incandescent is that if he would have returned the classified documents when first asked he would have avoided all this mess. Either he intended to make some $$ off them, or was so intent on showing them off to his buddies that he couldn’t bear to return what wasn’t his.
Let’s all remember that 23 good, proud Americans heard the evidence and voted to indict. In Miami. God Bless America.
