#45’s people believe what they want to believe
no matter how preposterous!
“It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they’ve been fooled” ~Mark Twain
Blaska met a big friendly bear of a man, a fellow alternate delegate, at the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland. Keith then and today is Trump to the Death. Keith could be the guy that Trump said he could shoot in the middle of Times Square and get away with it. Before he pulled the trigger, Keith would offer to pay for the bullet.
When reminded that the former President justifies trashing the Constitution (even Fox News says so), our Keith responds, “If that is the case, then it was needed.” Baghdad Bob would be proud!
Keith swallows whole Tucker Carlson’s lies of omission, that police gave the QAnon Shaman & Company guided tours of the Capitol on January 6. That ruckus involving broken glass and “Hang Mike Pence”? FBI instigators! Anyone who says otherwise is “promoting the lie of Democrats and their mouthpiece, the liberal media,” Keith retorts on Facebook. Too bad no one told poor, dead Ashli Babbitt.

Constitution over party?
Keith and other sufferers of Trump Derangement Syndrome are what my old boss Tommy Thompson are up against. The former governor is teaming up with other WI Republicans like former congressman Reid Ribble and Democrats like former Lt. Gov. Barbara “Babs” Lawton to “build trust and confidence in elections.” It’s part of a national effort called Keep Our Republic.
National co-chairs are (drum roll please) Tim Wirth and Dick Gephardt. Remember them? Of course not! The first guy was a Republican congressman and senator from Colorado. Gephardt was a congressman from Missouri who led Democrats in the House. Neither names are bold-face, 72-point newspaper headline type. (We must say we are impressed that the 12-member Wisconsin advisory council includes former State Sen. Dave Zien — better known as a Hall of Fame motorcyclist.)
The mission statement of Keep Our Republic is admirable; “In view of the events of January 6, 2021, we must not allow a failure of imagination to leave us unprepared for this array of risks.” The group is fighting the so-called Independent State Legislature Doctrine which could be used to overturn the people’s vote. It fears “the rise of extremist groups threatening political violence and other unconventional threats to our democratic operating system.” You mean, like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers that Trump vows to pardon?
Noble objectives, Keepers of Our Republic, but what’s the strategy?
“Conduct original research and polling, publish our findings and recommendations, and engage in additional public outreach and dialogue …”
— Keep Our Republic mission statement

Oooh! Research and Polling!
Outreach and Dialogue! That’ll show ’em! Problem is, by your congenial blogger’s personal experience, our party is filled with Keiths. The RealClear Politics average of polls shows Donald Trump owns 53% of Republicans — 31 points ahead of Ron DeSantis, his closest challenger.
How do you get to these people? Hand puppets and coffee with a cop? They’re steeped in nonsense like the Dinesh D’Souza movie 2000 Mules, which posits that 2,000 “mules” stuffed ballot drop boxes for Biden and, remarkably, have held their tongues to this day.
Keep Our Republic is working the same vineyard as Adam Kinzinger’s Country First. More to our liking is the Republican Accountability Project. Its message is straightforward:
“Trump lost in 2020 and his candidates lost in 2022. The message is simple: The party needs to nominate a candidate who can win in 2024.”
Let’s get this straight: Donald Trump IS the election lie.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: We’ll know you’re making headway, Tommy and Bill McCoshen (his former chief of staff), when:
- You get airtime from Vicki McKenna and Sean Trumpitty.
- When you get a speaking slot on the stage this weekend at the Republican state convention.
- When you pledge not to support the Republican nominee if it is Donald Trump. Without that promise, Trump gets his 32% in the primaries and takes the party down to defeat again in 2024 — and the nation with it.

I hope someone monitors Tommy’s alcohol intake before he takes the stage.
Trump polling better against Biden than DeSantis is, and if you live in the real world those are the only 2 choices. Tip of the hat to Pence for insomnia relief.
On the other side RFK Jr. continues to gain momentum.
Here we go again, it must be a slow Blog-day!
Dave: Although we often disagree, I wholeheartedly agree with this post. The quote from Twain hits the nail squarely on the head, missing both thumb and forefinger. What is so disappointing is the gullibility of the trumpistas and trumpettes. What happened to critical thinking in our society? If 45 becomes 47 I truly fear for the world my kids and grandkids are going to live in.
If you don’t already fear for the world your kids and grandkids are going to live in then you’re not doing much critical thinking. And by the way, it’s the federal debt that will screw them over and they’ll get no solace that it was created under “Democracy”.
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo … took a swipe at his former boss on Friday for adding nearly $8 trillion to the national debt.

Definitely not good. The Uniparty is very good at spending.
That the federal debt is going to ruin us is a story big money finance wants us to believe. We do have to care about the national debt but only because we need to make sure the money-keepers don’t punish us. In other words, it isn’t inherently a problem, but it is a problem because the rich think it’s a problem, and when the rich get mad they punish the poor. This debt wasn’t created under “Democracy” because we’ve never had it.
We don’t have to have the financial system that we have. We could completely abolish our currency and start fresh, cutting ourselves off from the international markets and starting over. America First. We eat what we grow and we buy what we make. If we wanted to take up a fight with the rich. If we had democracy.
The debt won’t matter a rats patoot if Democracy fails and we have the trump/flynn/bannon/mgt/boebert/texas/florida/tuberville/etal facist regime in DC. We will have chaos and anarchy accompanied by “conservative” sponsored economic collapse. And that is what will happen if 45 becomes 47.
As a historical aside, here is Dick Cheney on deficeits: “Reagan proved deficits don’t matter,” he said. “We won the midterms. This is our due.”
The Gotch has better things to do than continuously SCHOOL your sorry @$$; to wit:
The above cluelessly sophomoric, Chicken Little slobbering is only marginally outdone by its hilariously laughable illiterate presentation– (rats [rat’s], DC. [D.C.], deficeits [deficits]).
The Gotch would say you read too much fear-mongering Lefty drivel…but that would presume that you can, in fact, read.
It’s painfully clear English isn’t your 1st language…is it even in the Top Five?
Try harder…

Speaking of lies, no WaPo Lie-O-Meter since 01/20/2021 must mean that DementiaJoKe always tells the truth, am I right?
Not Exactly…

“That’s Blaska in white cap standing to right of U.S. Rep. Steil, behind U.S.Rep. Fitzgerald, who stands next to Speaker Robin Vos. Keith is somewhere in this screen shot.”
And….who’s the bimbo with the glasses on her head in lower right?
Va va voom!!! Tell us everything. Remember what’s said at Blaska’s blog stays at Blaska’s blog.
“who’s the bimbo with the glasses on her head in lower right?
Nice (heh!) catch; One Eye took in more than both those of The Gotch…
