What could go wrong?

Democrats’ choice of Chicago makes progressive sense!

We always regretted not taking up a friend’s entreaty that we drive on down to Chicago that summer of 1968 to see a little history and (as it turned out) swallow some pepper spray.

We have this gnawing intuition that the Democrats reconvening in Chicago for their 2024 national convention will repeat history but with an important role reversal. Instead of an angry Mayor Richard Daley shaking his fist and cursing out Sen. Abraham Ribicoff up at the podium, we’ll likely witness Sen. Chuck Schumer cursing out mayor Brandon Johnson.

Brandon Johnson 'is the most progressive mayor this city has ever seen.' — The Nation.

Why Chicago — a month after Milwaukee hosts Republicans in July 2024 — and not Atlanta, said to have been the nearest competitor? After all, Illinois is not a swing state; Georgia could be.

The Hill, an honest broker of unbiased news, reports “One factor that aided Chicago’s bid over Atlanta in particular was the city’s strong union presence, something that appealed to Biden and his public image as a strong supporter of organized labor.” Except … except … except organized labor these days are public school teachers and coffee shop baristas — not steel workers.

Because Chicago has gone Communist and A.O.C. and The Squad will be intent on completing their takeover of the national party. The teachers union-financed victory of community organizer Brandon Johnson 04-04-23 puts the Antifa wing of the party front and center again. Democrats are a party, after all, that celebrates firebrands who take over official proceedings wielding bullhorns.

Chicago’s socialist mayor and Karl Marx!

A woke jamboree!

It’s all party balloons and noise makers over at The Nation as progressives celebrate “A new generation of organizers — sexual minorities, abolitionists, undocumented activists, socialists, and environmental justice warriors — are also a critical part of what made Johnson’s bid for mayor a historic success!”

Brandon Johnson’s victory in the Chicago mayoral race last week is a major victory for the education justice movement, the 21st-century Black freedom movement, and the Left in general. Johnson is a former teacher and Chicago Teacher’s Union (CTU) leader, a protégé of a legendary union president, the late Karen Lewis.

One important prelude was the 2016 “Bye Anita” campaign that ousted reactionary State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez and paved the way for the election of her progressive successor, Kim Foxx. Black progressive youth organizers in Assata’s Daughters and Black Youth Project 100 led that campaign with unrelenting determination.

Kim Foxx is the notorious soft-on-crime district attorney that let Jussie Smollett walk free after his racial attack hoax until a judge intervened. The Chicago Tribune reports 235 staffers have quit the prosecutors’ office since 2021. The “Black Youth Project 100” is all about dismantling “the prison industrial complex.” As for “Assata’s Daughters,” allow Wikipedia to edify:

Assata’s Daughters is an American Black Power organization of young radical African-American women and girls in Chicago, which operates through a Black, Queerfeminist lens, that focuses on political education, organizing, and revolutionary services.[2] The group is dedicated to radical liberatory activism in the tradition of Assata Shakur, a former member of the Black Liberation Army (BLA).[2] The organization is often criticised for this connection, as Assata Shakur was convicted of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and other crimes in 1977 in the murder of a New Jersey State Trooper.[3]

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Just the kind of working class voter Democrats need to attract. NOT!

Could Republicans be this lucky?

I predict the convention will be a rousing success… as long as the whores don’t run out.

I assume by “whores” you mean trans-sex workers. No self-respecting progressive would dream of having sex (only after receiving notarized consent) with anyone who identifies as a cis-woman. What could be more retrograde?

Allegedly, the inner city people are begging for more police presence because of the black on black crime, especially with the murder rate keep going up. And yet, these same people most likely voted for the black dude who wants to get rid of more cops, will raise taxes in an already highly taxed city and will drive out more of those people and corporations who currently pay those taxes, and will give his old teacher union even more just by being on their side while negotiating against said union, making the kids there even more illiterate than they currently are (even with many schools already at 0% students currently at grade level in reading and math – it will get much, much worse). I am guessing they voted for him solely on his skin color versus the white guy who promised them better safety and better schools.

The white Dems coming to town better beware for their own safety as the only white Dem attending (or at least scheduled to attend subject to change if his handlers let him out of his Wilmington, DE, basement this time around) will have a decent sized security army protecting him.

Mrs. Scott and I loved going to Wrigley Field to see our beloved Brewers play the Cubbies as well visit the various museums. We haven’t been there since Rahm Emmanuel was running the place and as things stand now, we won’t ever be going back again for our own personal safety.

Anyone figure out why the vast majority of black voters–in Chicago and everywhere else–will cast their votes on the basis of skin color over every other consideration, even if it literally means putting their lives in danger? And the same can be asked of rich white women whether they live on the west side of Madison or in Lincoln Park. Throw in the fanatics that people the teachers unions, the even more fanatic pro-abortionists, the reliable billions from Soros, and the Dems have a winning combo, at least in urban areas.

The conductor of that Budweiser dumpster fire of marketing campaign apparently can’t understand why some (actually most) people don’t want politics and social justice injected into their beverage of choice. The head of Minoqua Brewing has a similar problem. Since neither product is anything to write home about, I don’t consume either.

After an extensive (and exhaustive) taste test it was determined by our dedicated panel of beer connoisseurs that several of the Minocqua brews are far better than Bud, light or otherwise.

Better than Budweiser, yes, but Budweiser is to beer what the Chicago Bears are to the NFL. Likewise, Minocqua is to Wisconsin beer what the Olive Garden is to Italian food.

Red: What is Wisconsin beer? Miller Lite? Leinies (made by Miller)? PBR, made by who knows and who knows where? Most of the brews sold by Minocqua are WI brewed by WI craft brewers.

If you want to compare it to other Wisconsin craft breweries, of which I’ve sampled dozens, Minocqua is a Ray Barone in a boxing ring full of Clubber Langs. I suppose their political gimmicks attract a certain niche of consumers, but take that out of their marketing scheme and you take away most of the appeal of their products.
