— Mike Pence 03-11-23
Even if Tucker Carlson won’t. At the annual Gridiron Dinner Saturday in Washington DC, Mike Pence said this:
“President Trump was wrong. I had no right to overturn the election and his reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day, and I know that history will hold Donald Trump accountable,” Pence said.
“Tourists don’t injure 140 police officers by sightseeing.” — Mike Pence
Pence scolded those who have downplayed the people who entered the Capitol on January 6 as tourists. ““January 6 was a tragic day for [Tr•mp]. I was there at the Capitol, and let me assure you it was not, as some would have us believe, a matter of tourists peacefully enjoying our Capitol. Tourists don’t break down doors to get to the Speaker of the House or voice threats against public officials.”

Pence chastised Republicans who minimized the insurrection, days after Fox News host Tucker Carlson aired new security footage from inside the Capitol on January 6 in an attempt to defend the mob.
“Make no mistake about it, what happened that day was a disgrace, and it mocks decency to portray it in any other way,” Pence said at the dinner.
An insurrection need not be successful to qualify as an insurrection. Just ask Jefferson Davis. But J/6 DID succeed for about 12 hours. It WAS organized, however shambolically. It was more than a riot. Aimlessly smashing windows on State Street and toppling statues at the Capitol in Madison WI in 2020 — THAT was a riot.
J/6 was an insurrection. It had a purpose: to overturn the Constitution. The insurgents battled and battered police in Trump’s name. They followed his marching orders: to “Stop the Steal.” They vowed to hang Mike Pence. Over 1,000 of them broke down doors and smashed windows so they could (chillingly) sing, “Where’s Nancy?”
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Mike Pence just opened the floodgates. It’s all over for Tr•mp now.
How do you like the way Joe and the Dems are running the country, Dave?

Fred! I don’t like the way Joe and the Dems are running the country. Do you like the way Donald Tr•mp tried to overturn the Constitution? Do you really justify the insurrection just to shave a few decimal points off the interest rate?

Boomers will leave us with nothing but ashes.
All ballot boxes other than a single box which is close to the Clerk’s office were ILLEGAL! That’s the law dumbass! All ballots stuffed into the illegal boxes were invalid, yet illegally counted.
Wis. Stat. 6.855(1)
Biden took control of the USG illegally. Your support of Biden is an attack on the US Constitution.
Stop with your “Constitution” BS, draft-dodging asshole

No court agrees with you. Those ballots were NOT illegal. Voters cast ballots where they were told they could cast ballots. If the city ordinance says my street is one-way East to West but the sign crew puts up signs saying one-way West to East, you don’t get a ticket.
You insult the Constitution with your ignorance. You betray your cowardice with your anonymity and your resort to profanity. You are no patriot.

Ummm. . . yes, actually the court DID agree with him – that’s why ballot boxes are not put out anymore. The legislature and GAB turned a blind eye to Wisconsin law. Clearly , the ballot boxes and voting in the park were in violation of Wisconsin voting laws

No, the court did NOT agree. RMX said the votes were illegal. The WI Supreme Court never said the votes were illegal, only that the ballot drop boxes were not authorized under statute (and thus, yes, illegal). But the ballots themselves were legal.

Sooo. . . you can vote illegally, but your vote is still legal.
This is the kind of bullshittery that we need to get rid of

If the city ordinance says your street is one way, East to West, but the city sign crew screws up and puts up signs pointing West to East — do you get a ticket for obeying the signs? Let’s hear your answer, One Vote.

That is the most backward analogy I can imagine. . .

Let’s hear your answer: Ordinance says one-way East to West. City sign crew makes mistake (honest or not). The driver did as city signs directed: drove West to East. Should he be ticketed because the city made a mistake?
The same bloke was told he could drop his ballot in a box located at Tenney Park. The city clerk confirmed that guidance with the state elections board. Should that voter’s ballot be disregarded? Should that voter be disenfranchised?
Answers, One Vote, not Evasions!

So – if the government put up a sign that it is OK to murder whoever you want, that would absolve you of breaking the law??
Ina perfect world, the GAB and State Legislature would do their jobs and it never would have been a problem- they should also be penalized or fired.
Ina perfect world, the organizations that instituted drop boxes and illegal voting in the park would be prosecuted for breaking Wisconsin statutes.
In a perfect world, these would have been shut down immediately, and the voter would be allowed to recast their vote legally.
In a perfect world, people in Wisconsin would not put their fingers in their ears and say La La La.

Murder! Outlawed at least since the time of Moses! REALLY, One Vote? You equate MURDER with VOTING? Now THAT is a stupid analogy!
In a perfect world, only YOU would penalize the average Joe Blow voter. In a perfect world, Trump would have sought an injunction stopping ballot drop boxes BEFORE the votes were cast, not after he lost!

It’s about time Pence grew a pair. Too bad it took him more than two years to do it. Shame on you, Mike.

Of COURSE Pence is speaking up now! He is making a run for the Presidency, and it politically expedient to crap on Trump.

Have you pondered WHY it is politically expedient to “crap on Tr•mp”? Could it be that more of us are seeing through Tr•mp’s lies? Let’s hear your answer.

Just people that have come into contact with liberals and have caught Trump Derangement Syndrome. I would guess that you and Jay Weber at WISN must have been in contact with them recently.
It sounds like you have a mile case, but I’m sure a few weeks in a reeducation camp will give you the full blown disease

I think Trump should have been impeached for not enforcing the laws on Jan. 6 as he is duty bound to do. Had the impeachment articles been narrowly tailored to focus solely on him for that, it is possible enough Republicans would have joined and he would be finished. However, Democrats preferred to go after the entire Jan. 6 mob, including a lot of people who clearly had little or no idea what they were up to there. The Democrats were and are more interested in condemning every Republican and really every voter who supported Trump. I think it is WAY over the top to call that mayhem at the Capitol that day an insurrection.
I also think it helps to dismiss them all to simply say the election was not stolen, ridicule anyone who has doubts about it and leave it at that. A lot of those people on Jan. 6 had some reason to be upset about the many odd aspects of the 2020 election. Had Trump simply said that much on Nov. 9, conceded but demanded a commission to investigate and correct the sloppy stuff, the loosely supervised absentee ballots, the Zuckerbucks phenomenon, the FBI involvement in the suppression of the laptop story, etc., etc., he would today be the uncontested favorite for 2024. (That was the tactic Nixon took in 1960.) Instead, he is a walking dead man. But insurrection? I am sorry, I don’t see it. Suppose the mob had harmed Pence or Pelosi. An outrage and a crime, certainly. But it would have had zero effect on the transition of power. They had no plan, no firepower, no way of establishing an alternative temporary regime or electoral procedure, no capacity to even hold that dead concrete structure they were in for more than a few hours. Nothing. It was extreme silliness and I really, really, really think it is time for EVERYONE to move on from it.
