As supporters of President Donald Trump took part in a violent riot at the Capitol, users of the social media service Parler posted videos of themselves and others joining the fray. ProPublica posts more than 500 videos that taken during on January 6 by the insurrectionists themselves. Some of the videos display breaking through windows and doors.
“Where are the f * * * ing traitors? Drag them out by the f * * * -ing hair.”
“Can I speak to Pelosi? We’re coming, bitch. Mike Pence, we’re coming for you, too, f * * * ing traitor.”
The insurrection DID succeed — for about 10 hours. Not as long as the Confederacy, which also failed. J/6-2021 was more than a riot. Hooligans broke windows, looted and burned downtown Madison twice during June 2020. That was a riot. But they never attempted to stop an official, constitutionally required transfer of governmental power. However stupidly and poorly executed, J/6 was an insurrection.

I don’t condone such rhetoric in protests and/or riots, it’s far too extreme. There were definitely some extreme individuals that the police needed to keep a really close eye on.
I would have told Pelosi, “You reap what you sow. Bitch.”
The focus should be on WHY (????) 20,000 Trump supporters traveled to Washington DC to protest an election. Whether they broke in or walked into the Capitol, whether they climbed a wall, screamed profanities or took selfies in front of Lincoln’s statue, their behavior that day is secondary and trivial to WHY they were there. That type of distrust and disdain for our corrupted electoral process has never been seen before. That’s the issue. Globally organized and well-funded forces have stolen our democracy and they will most likely steal it again at the next election as well. People are not voting for Rachael Levine, Sam Brinton, John Fetterman, Katie Hobbs or our babbling, shuffling and confused Commander in Chief. These people are being assigned to us by election engineers other than U.S. voters.

Sure know the why is a good piece of information but you do not deflect away from the actual actions individuals took while at the Capitol on January 6th, actual criminal actions trump why every time.
When there is criminal actions the focus should always be on the criminal action NOT the why.

Here’s another candidate for WHY. It’s because white, rural, inadequately educated Americans–yes, they’re still Americans despite not being college-educated urban elites–felt (all too accurately) that they’ve been treated with ill-disguised disdain by those in power, no matter what their party affiliation. When (as they saw it) the final opportunity to let those in power know once and for all that they had abrogated their responsibilities, they took it. They took it because in their desperation they saw no other alternative. And since then, those who felt, for a couple of hours on Jan. 6th, 2021 while cowering in the basement of the Capitol, that the jig might be up, have only doubled-down on their arrogance and ineptitude. If this country was a house divided against itself in 1861-65, it’s a house falling in on itself from all sides in 2023.
I think the FBI did a GREAT job instigating a riot!!

Nobel Prize winning Soviet dissident Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn said, “There are two sides to every story —until you find out the truth —then there is only ONE side.” With the release of the Tucker Tapes, it’s clear that most of the January 6th velvet rope crossers were not insurrectionists, they were sightseers. Should those that broke the law using flag poles and harsh language be held responsible for their actions? Of course. Should those that were allowed into the Capital by police and behaved civilly be held for years without charges and have exculpatory evidence withheld from their defense? Not so much.
Well, at least there’s bi-partisan agreement between you and your fellow bloggeur Dave C. You both continue to peddle (in Dave C’s case it’s pedal) the insurrection story.
The rioters were armed with cellphones. The ‘QAnon shaman’ was escorted by Capitol police. There were certainly some wackjobs there.
Armed insurrection? Not even close. Insurrection? The J6 kangaroo hearings couldn’t even get that nailed down.
I doubt we have one half of the story, much less both sides.
