One of most progressive
Highly influential alder, more progressive than a Department of Sociology hunger strike, Ald. Shiva Bidar is calling it quits, won’t seek re-election. So, too, unfortunately, is Ald. Michael Tierney — one of the good guys.
Ald. Bidar sent this missive to her Regent Street-area constituents early this morning (11-30-2020):
I have decided not to run for re-election for the City of Madison Common Council District 5 seat. My term ends in April 2021 and I will continue to work hard and diligently until then.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve our city as District 5 Alder since 2009, including serving as Council President twice. I have learned so much and have done my best to represent you and to advance racial equity and social justice. Much work still needs to be done and a steadfast commitment to racial equity must remain at the center of the work ahead.

Ald. Tierney represents the Elvehjem Park area on the city’s southeast side. He wrote this on his city blog:
I want to take a moment to say thank you to residents of District 16, who have reached out to me over the last 2 ½ years and sought to actively engage in issues that are important to the City of Madison, our communities and specifically District 16. I also want to say thank you to those of you, who have reached out to me in recent weeks and encouraged me to seek re-election this coming April. However, after some reflection and long conversations with my family, I have decided not to seek re-election to the District 16 seat on the Madison Common Council.

Alder Tierney IS one of the good guys in his own quiet way. He may have been intimidated by the “mob” or he’s just disgusted in the childish, arrogant behavior of the Uncommon Council members who are the REgressive Dane mob.
The door can’t hit Bidar in the butt hard enough. She’s not REgressive Dane; they won’t accept her because she’s TOO far left.

After what was allowed to happen to downtown Madison, as well as the skyrocketing violent crime rate in Madison, the entire Council and Mayor ought to step down. Shame on all of them for turning Madison into a sh!thole dump that makes Rockford look like ancient Athens at its peak.

Talk about Alders not doing their job. Got to talking to the bus driver who took me from Mifflin St. on the square to my bus stop. I was complaining to him about the lack of windows at the bus stop and how cold it was. He said that punks regularly bust out the windows at bus stops. I told him I felt especially bad for the older people and the little ones who have to wait at the shelters as without windows, there is no relief from the wind or the rain or the snow.
He told me that Madison Metro purchases the windows by the pallet. That there were a lot of bus shelter windows busted out during the riots around the square and on State Street. That they replace something like 200+ windows a year at the bus stops. This year even more. And yet the Alders want to take away more Police. How does that make any sense?
The bus driver told me that one day he did a early morning stop at the north side bus terminal and found that most of the bus stop windows were busted out. You and I, us taxpayers, all pay for those windows. And the worst part is that it is not the rich guy in his Mercedes who parks his car in the underground heated garage at his condo building where he owns a 400+ thousand dollar condo that is affected. He would be an example of the folks who drive to work where they park their cars in the underground heated garage at work. They are not affected at all. It is the poor who can only afford to get around by taking the bus who are affected by the lack of windows at the bus stop.
So all these people who bust out the bus stop windows because they are or were “Protesting the Man” are really only hurting the poor. And all you Alders who want to defund the Police are helping idiots like these get away with it by taking more and more Police resources away from the Police; you are in a very real sense, making the poor shiver in the cold as the wait for the bus.
How very progressive of you!

But, you can’t no way in hell on this earth explain this to them, they haven’t finished school yet, more to learn if they have enough sense to make it all the way, sadly many think not. End up thugging on the streets, the left almost promote it as a freedom of expression now.

In case you are unaware Madtown, for a long time now it has been very risky and uncool to be too studious and scholastically successful within the young black community because you will then be acting white and that is pure evil. Thugging trumps climbing the ladder of the American Dream and all the wondrous things associated. Black leadership in Madison is an abysmal failure and disgrace but at least noncontroversial within their own dysfunctional community, so there’s that.
