Mayor resorts to hateful name-calling

How … Divisive!

Madison’s rank and file police officers took the unprecedented step of taking a No Confidence vote against Mayor Satya Rhodes Conway this week. So how did the mayor respond? By accusing the police officers of being “divisive.”

“Madison Professional Police Officers Association (MPPOA) … is sowing division instead of stepping up to partner with the community and the rest of City government,” Satya said.

This is standard boilerplate; if you disagree with progressives, you are being DIVISIVE! No defense of her policies or rebuttal of the officers’ indictment.

The No Confidence vote severely wounded the mayor in the midst of a Recall effort that is gaining momentum. (Recall Satya 2020) Proof? The mayor’s election campaign organization came out the same day (Monday 07-27-2020) with a fund-raising letter to combat the Recall:

Will you make a contribution to Satya for Madison’s campaign account today? If the recall petition doesn’t get the signatures it needs, the money raised will go to support Democrats in Wisconsin in November.”

The mayor’s campaign resorts to the predictable litany of hateful insults.

Supporters of Recall Satya 2020 are “racist, homophobic, and misogynist Trump support[er]s who want to destroy everything we hold dear in Madison.”

Everything!

  • If you held dear the ability to walk down State Street and enjoy the many curio shops and bistros but are angry because they are boarded up, you are a racist.
  • If you once enjoyed walking the Capitol Square after sunset but now heed the warnings of the sheriff that the Downtown is no longer safe after 4:30, you are homophobic.
  • If you are alarmed at the epidemic of teenaged car thefts and the daily shootings, you are misogynist.
  • If you are tired of blaming the police for criminal conduct and telling them to stand down during a riot, you are probably a Trump supporter. (The worst insult of all!)

Here’s the letter, in full:

Satya letterheadDear friend:

Hi, I would like to introduce myself I am Amy Westra and I am the person keeping the lights on here at Satya for Madison. I have taken a low-key approach to keeping the lights on, not wanting to fill your Facebook, Twitter, email boxes with a lot of information from us. Especially this year when the most important thing is to win in November and save this country from Trump.

Unfortunately, we have a huge distraction and I can’t stay silent anymore. A small subset of Trump Activists are trying to recall Satya for a host of stupid reasons. The amount of racism, homophobia, and misogyny around this recall attempt  is disgusting. I have been holding my tongue, not wanting to distract from the important things going on in our community. But I can’t be silent anymore.

The recall against Satya is being run by a cohort of racist, homophobic, and misogynist Trump supports who want to destroy everything we hold dear in Madison.  Now is the time to make it clear: we won’t let conservatives stand in the way of progress here in Madison. Satya is working hard every day not only on the priorities we elected her to tackle – racial equity, affordable housing, rapid transit and climate change- but also to keep us safe during the COVID-19, reimagine public safety, and help our city recover from the economic recession caused by the pandemic.

So, here’s my ask: will you make a contribution to Satya for Madison’s campaign account today? If the recall petition doesn’t get the signatures it needs, the money raised will go to support Democrats in Wisconsin in November. Trump won Wisconsin by only 22,000 votes – we can turn it blue in 2020. We don’t expect the recall to get the signatures they need, but I want to be prepared in case they do and we have fight on our hands.

Thanks for your support!

Blaska’s Bottom Line: This Team Satya letter could have been written by Brandi Grayson, M Adams, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. It is another reason to recall the mayor.

Will you be cowed by the name-calling?

Will Mayor Bubbles be at the Federal Courthouse downtown for the scheduled attack/riot to make sure the MPD stands down and doesn’t impede the anarchists?

Best case scenario: the demonstrations at the federal building turns into a riot worthy of Portland, Trump sends in the troops, Madison lliberals have a collective fit, the world gets to see yet again the anarchic chaos the media persists in calling “mostly peaceful protests.”

I think there’s a greater chance of her losing a recall election than getting enough signatures for a recall. The reason is that the signatures are public and people will not want to face retaliation for “siding” with the racists, homophobes, and Trump supporters.

This will not deter me from signing. If they slander me, I will find a good lawyer and sue. If they threaten my personal safety, I will press for criminal charges.

People have got to stop hiding under a rock and being afraid. This only emboldens the radicals.

That’s all true for you, but I think some Dems will have to sign the recall petition for it to be successful and they are not known for courage against the more radical members of their party.

It’s not exactly a party being a conservative in a liberal town. I understand fear. Am I scared? At times, hell, yeah. But we all need to push through that fear. If someone threatens personal safety or does harm, press for criminal charges. Threatens your livelihood? Find a good lawyer and sue. This isn’t just going away on its own, and if we don’t stand up now, it will only continue and probably get worse not only for us, but our kids.

Fear is the fulcrum of leverage the mob uses to manipulate and must be confronted by each and everyone of us. Fear is why the honchos in business and schools capitulate to anarchists and the radical left cancel culture. People are losing their jobs and good names because weak people in positions of authority are unable or unwilling to confront their fear of being labeled racist, property damaged, and being physically assaulted all of which cannot be ignored but MUST be confronted with courage. Every time someone exhibits courage under fire it inspires others to do the same and this growing pattern is what will turn the tide.

Pick someone who demonstrated or demonstrates great courage and will that person to inspire you to do the same.

Hateful ad hominem name calling doesn’t work anymore. Conservatives have been called every nasty -ist, -ism and -phobe name in the proglobotic playbook.

Besides, that’s not who we are.

But haters still gotta hate. #HateAmericaFirsters, #Angry BlueFisters and end-stage TDSers hate everything that if good and Godly. Leftist rage is driven by hatred; hatred of President Trump, hatred of the nation they were born into, hatred of free enterprise, hatred of their history (the phony history, not the real one) and culture. All of these things, though, are merely peripheral targets of a hatred that manifests in a nemesis they can’t acknowledge, … themselves.

But it sure is fun to watch the little pointy-headed proglibocrats with their little impotent daubers up, their hair on fire, raging against the machine and tilting at windmills while shouting inanities.

Mayor Satya Rhodes Conway’s campaign office is officially delusional and anyone that swallows this delusional garbage has got a few screws loose. Even Gregory Humphrey that is the Liberal blogger on Caffeinated Politics says, “No one can be pleased with the lack of leadership from this mayor over the past months. Our city can not afford to think about three more years of having ‘the smartest one in the room’.” Humphrey says hes been told that “no matter who is in the room with the mayor, she believes she is still the smartest one. That blunder in self-judgment accounts for much of the mess that has unfolded since she took office.”.

    Mayor Satya,
The sun is setting on your short time as Madison’s Mayor you better start planning for what’s next. Maybe you can get a job working under the direct control of the people you pander to, Freedom Inc., Urban Triage, Progressive Dane, etc. I’m sure one of those totalitarian leaning fringe organizations will welcome you into their fold.

President Trump is acting in a Conservative manner (i.e. conserving what works and discarding the rest) even though it is clear he is not ideological. How is bringing down unemployment for every sector of the American population “sowing discord”? So when somebody lies to your face with a leading question…do you just answer if the premise is false? How are We The People being “played” exactly? They (including myself) – love him more than when he got elected. (I voted for Sen. Cruz in the WI primary).

Agree, Sarah. I love Trump even more than before. He’s not genteel, but more importantly he doesn’t talk down to us like we’re idiots or lecture us about morals, like Obama, Hillary, and other leftists like to do. And man, does he get things done for this country.

Apparently, Black Americans think he’s doing an excellent job too, as Trump’s approval rating among Black voters has never been higher.

We all want the same thing – to be safe and feel safe. How we get there is where the issues lie. I prefer to concentrate on the ways we’re the same and work forward from there. Right now, we agree the mayor has to go. That’s the important work.

As conservatives and libertarians we don’t have that same luxury. While I’d love to put up a Trump or support police yard sign, I have to worry about my property being vandalized or worse.

As non-liberals we are not free to express ourselves as liberals are.
