Blaska Policy Werkes

David Blaska, going out of his way to provoke progressives in Madison WI to make America safe for democracy!

‘Bernie sees the good in murderous tyrants’

You say you want a revolution …

But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao
You ain’t going to make it with anyone anyhow

Oh, this is delicious. We are Montgomery Burns, steepling our fingers and cooing, “Excellent!”

We loves us our schadenfreude, served cold with a twist of lemon and a dash of Angostura. We’ve won the lottery on someone else’s lost ticket.

We are watching Progressivism — humorless, strident, and intolerant — earn the ignominy that long ago put the term “liberal” into bad odor.

Bernie Sanders will be the death of progressivism as surely as Jeremy Corbyn killed off Labour in the U.K.

It is not coincidence that both were unreconstructed socialists, for progressivism is rule by experts and only experts can determine the proper allocation of resources — who gets what and from whom, what gets taken. The market economy — Adam Smith’s unseen hand making millions of independent decisions, fostering innovation and creating wealth — cannot be trusted.

Which is why Bernie Sanders “sees the good in murderous international tyrants.” That’s not Sean Hannity talking, that’s Paul Fanlund, editor of Dane County’s Progressive Voice, The Capital Times.

(Mmmm, DELICIOUS!)

Bernie and the boys

Marc Thiessen in today’s WI State Journal reviews Bernie’s hero worship of the Sandinistas, his praise of Fidel Castro’s Cuban revolution, his honeymooning in Soviet Union, and his current support for Nicolas Maduro in impoverished Venezuela.

Sanders claims he is not a communist but a democratic socialist. You know who else might have made that claim? The German Democratic Republic (East Germany), the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam), and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea). If you see the modifier “Democratic” in a country’s name, it’s a dead giveaway that it ism a socialist dictatorship.

Hate America first

No one who shares Middle America’s core values of freedom, democracy and entrepreneurship would choose to honeymoon in the Soviet Union,” Joseph C. Sternberg writes in the Wall Street Journal. “No one who values American achievements in science, the arts or education would heap praise on Cuba’s schools.”

Every other Democratic candidate on a debate stage with Mr. Sanders has been able to communicate even the most fantastical policy ideas with an undertone of patriotism. Mr. Sanders alone sounds as if he wants to replace America rather than transform it.

Marquette poll Feb 2020
Marquette Law School poll

Fanlund notes that Second District Rep. Mark Pocan “is a big Bernie guy, and I know many who regard Sanders’ ideological purity as refreshing and energizing.”

Indeed,  Bernie is the first or second choice of 42% of Wisconsin Democrats, according to the Marquette Law School poll.  In the 2016 Democrat(ic) primary, Bernie got 62.5% of Dane County’s vote to 37.3% for the Hildabeast.

Sanders is the front-runner partly because none of his many rivals has taken on Bernie’s full-bore socialism. They just cavil about the benjamins.

The Democrats need a Sanders candidacy,
so the existing party can be completely
defeated, humiliated, and rebirthed.

— Conrad Black in American Greatness.

Turn around being fair play

Fanlund is promising some quid pro quo of his own. Castigating Bernie and his heavy breathers for sitting out the Hillary defeat four years ago, Fanlund now warns:

Should Sanders prevail in getting the Democratic nomination, you expect your targets — conscientious mainstream liberals who disagree with you — to forgive and forget and enthusiastically climb onto Bernie’s bandwagon?

That’s a big ask.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Bernie losing to Donald Trump is Democrats’ worst nightmare. Bernie winning the presidency will be America’s worst nightmare. Bernie says he wants a revolution? President Sanders will get one.

What do YOU think?

  1. Über Lefty Paulie Fanlund doesn’t Feel the Bern? THAT’S gotta chafe Lefty’s cheeks!

But oh were it ONLY that sticking in Bernie Bros’ craws.

Sanders has a plan for everything, just not a pricetag; to paraphrase SanFranNan, you have to elect him to find out the cost.

    It gets worse.

You ever heard of Sierra Blanco? Neither had The Gotch until just this a.m.

Anywho, turns out Sanders ALSO had a plan for his state’s nuclear waste; dump it on Sierra Blanca, located in the poor Latino community of Sal si Puedes (TRANSLATION: Get Out While You Can), a suburb of Marfa in West Texas’ Hudspeth County.

Ol’ Bern thought it would be fine-n-dandy to…um…relocate nuclear waste from the Vermont Yankee plant (Vernon, VT) to Sal si Puedes because…welp…just because; Green Mountain State & all, I reckon

The Texas Observer put it a tad more succinctly; “Sanders to Sierra Blanca: “DROP DEAD!”

The late career Lefty Paul Wellstone (D-MN) from the Senate floor: “(Sierra Blanca is) environmental racism.” Former Texas Democratic Rep. Silvestre Reyes: “(Sanders actions) insanely callous.”

Invited to visit Sierra Blanca, Feel the Bern said: “Absolutely not. I’m gonna be running for re-election in the state of Vermont.”

Bernie; what a mensch, am I right.

As far as his Green New Deal cred? The $#!T’s getting ready to hit the fan!

Nothing puts a smile on my face faster than walking down the block in my near Eastside neighborhood and seeing the Bernie yard signs burgeoning like stinkweed in high summer.

I’m planning to get a Trump yard sign (actually I’ll need several since they’re bound to be stolen/vandalized) mainly to raise my neighbors’ collective blood pressure–oh, and to make the neighborhood more “diverse.” Not sure if I can afford the cost of a new security system, though.

No need for an expensive security system; GET CREATIVE!

    2. Wait……..what? Is Bernie Harry Reid’s bitch?
The best place (in the USA) for nuke-waste disposal is Yucca Mountain in Nevada, so of course, as long as Harry Reid was Majority Leader, the project was blocked.

Now Bernie wants to put NW in Texas?

How about in the trunk of his car??

It was in 1998, though lost in the shadow of a nation consumed with TRAGICALLY UNFAIR Impeachment Hearings, but still.

Seriously, is this news to you? The Gotch keeps his ear to the ground for such things, and this slips past til now?

Speaking of the past; requiem for a timeless quote:

“The past is never dead. It’s not even past.”

Heck, even the reliably Lefty snopes.com ranks it MOSTLY TRUE.

This is damning! Managed properly, Feel the Bern will…um…Feel the BURN!!

I have a number of younger friends , Gen X/Millenials, who just think Bernie is great. It’s ME who doesn’t understand. You see Bernie will implement REAL socialism, which they will tell you, has never been REALLY tried. The big hurdle that they can’t seem to get past, is that we are the richest nation on Earth. By a mile. This is actual.ly something we can agree on whole heartedly. They don’t seem to know WHY we are so rich, and they don’t seem to care why, either. They just know that if “we” are rich, and WE are not distributing that wealth in a fair manner, from their point of view. It’s all about fairness and it is a mere coincidence Bernie’s plan will “forgive” their student debt, and provide them health care, paid for by others.

So I usually like to ask them, Why ARE we the richest nation on Earth? Was that just an accident? How did we get rich in the first place? I know that they KNOW WHY, they just won’t admit it at the same time that they are arguing for socialism. It’s very inconvenient timing. Wealth is the ONLY thing that can cure poverty. So you might think that all the social justice warriors out there, must spend untold hours trying to learn how wealth is created, and promoting laws that aid wealth creation. But you would be wrong. They have no interest in how wealth “happens.” But they have some bang-up ideas on how it should be spent.

I suspect that the young people you refer to have a subconscious analogy in mind when they ponder the relationship of a government to its citizens, namely that of a parent and child. They’re used to getting everything they want from their parents (with precious little effort on their part). The one thing they’ve never heard is “Sorry, we can’t afford it.” Therefore, they expect the same indulgent behavior from government. And Bernie fits the bill perfectly: “Here, take it. Don’t worry about what it costs. G’head, take more. More!” Their Pavlovian response to such a message is all too understandable.

A million times this. Much like it’s less hygienic predecessor in the 60’s, the Bernie phenomena is a product of middle class suburban homes. Home where children grow up assured that they are the bright glowing center of the universe. Homes where the television promises them a clean orderly consumerist utopia, where they should expect their every desire be met. When these children leave home and go to college they begin to discover the world is a messed up place, filled with messed up people. They rebel at this and demand that their utopian vision be imposed on the world, happily encouraged by the educational establishment.

The truth about socialism is that it’s not about equity, fairness, the poor, or the workers. It’s about bourgeois, suburban, NPR tote bag wielding, whole foods shopping douche bags demanding the world be cleansed of anything that offends their sensibilities. All utopian ideologies are at their core authoritarian. This one is no different.

So Crazy Bernie loses South Carolina to the walking mummy–no, not Bloomberg, the other one. Anyway, according to CNN, South Carolina voters in the Democrat primary are 55-60% African American, which automatically makes that state more “diverse” than those white-bread bastions of Iowa and NH. The truth is it’s just as uniform, but on the other end of the color spectrum. Still, one has to feel good about Joe’s primary victory–his first since he began his sporadic race to the White House in 1988. His tactic of relentless pandering to AA voters might gain him Alabama but Bernie has CA and Texas wrapped up.
