John Nichols warns WI Democrats!
As a guilty pleasure, this blogge tracks the journalistic gymnastics to which Bernie bro John Nichols will go to flack for fellow socialist Francesca Hong for governor of Wisconsin.
Like a french hog rooting for truffles, Comrade John has unearthed a real beaut for Sunday’s Madison fish wrap! Francesca’s principal opponent, the establishment-favored Lt. Sara Gov. Rodriguez, blew off an invite from the Muslims of Milwaukee. So did then-candidate David Crowley, which suggests that Milwaukee County’s black executive has taken the measure of the Muslim groups. Crowley subsequently scuttled his own campaign and endorsed Rodriguez in what appears to be a centrist attempt to ward off the pro-Hamas wing of the party.
Rodriguez and Crowley withdrew when they learned the Milwaukee Muslims would ask the candidates whether “the Israeli military assault on Gaza was genocide.” Of course, the only acceptable answer in such a setting is “From the River to the Sea!” accompanied by a raised fist.
State Sen. Kelda Roys and Mandela Barnes readily agreed with Hong, who is herself as Muslim as Yasser Arafat.

Nichols dips into the DSA songbook to argue that “Islam is an American religion.” (So is Scientology.) There are 70,000 Muslims resident across Wisconsin — a rounding error in a population of 5.97 million. “Vilify the Zionists” may be a winning message here in Madison, a city represented in Congress by Mark Pocan (D-Hamas), where Hong and Roys serve in the state legislature.
Just before the November general election, Wisconsin voters will be reminded of the horrors inflicted by Hamas on October 6, 2023: Mothers raped, children butchered, hundreds taken hostage — 1,200 dead, proportionately more than the 2,400 Americans killed at Pearl Harbor on an earlier day that also lives in infamy. Both were surprises attacks, except that Japan attacked a military base; Hamas attacked civilians enjoying a music festival and families sleeping in their homes.
FDR was trying to choke off Japan’s access to fuel. What provocation has Hamas claimed? Israel left Gaza 16 years earlier so that its people could run their own affairs. They elected Hamas, which used aid from its Arab neighbors to dig tunnels under hospitals and stockpile weapons.
The U.S. dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing between 150,000 to 246,000 people. Allied bombing killed another 100,000 in Tokyo. Genocide, John?
This Democratic Socialists of America isn’t just liberalism in a hurry. It’s not just a bunch of Michael Harrington types who want America to look more like Denmark.
