Unanimously opposed auditing the Woke gravy train!
No one gets fired at the University of Wisconsin-Madison except women’s basketball coaches. But the Badger athletic department is an outlier. Its coaches have to show results. The rest of the sprawling higher ed bureaucracy takes care of its own, like LeVar Charleston, until earlier this year the point man of its $21.8 million taxpayer- and tuition-financed diversity, equity, & inclusion machine.
Picking up on the last thrilling episode, an internal audit conducted at the behest of Republicans in the state legislature found Vice Chancellor Charleston was paying himself $364,207 a year after giving himself a $50,000 raise. He showered generous bonuses on 85% of his employees. (Campus wide, fewer than 3% get bonuses.) The DEI guy sent 52 staff members to 36 conferences, including one to Maui for $32,000! His shop spent three-times more on travel than the campus average and $369,163 on furniture, second most on campus only to the library. Charleston did all this even in the face of increasing Republican scrutiny!
“It strains credulity to believe that he did not grasp the acute sensitivity of this action,” the internal UW-Madison report marveled. Maybe he thought Democrats would continue to cover for him.
This and that
Early voting starts Tuesday 03-18-25.
About Sunday’s title game loss: four games in four days! Losing the last home game on senior day vs. bottom-dweller Penn State came back to bite our beloved UW Badger basketballers. Could have used that extra bye that Michigan enjoyed.
Democrats poll just 29% approval nationwide, a record low in CNN’s polling dating back to 1992. The Republican Party’s approval stood at 36%.
Susan Crawford accuses Brad Schimel of that for which she is guilty: being soft on crime. What does it tell you that 54 current sheriffs and another 28 retired sheriffs support Brad Schimel? Only two sheriffs — both Democrats (and one is retired)— support Susan Crawford; both are out of Crawford’s Dane County.
Jill Underly won’t debate Brittany Kinser. Avoiding another form of audit!

Talk about Deep State!
Today’s take away: Republican state legislators forced the audit of the Dept. of Diversity, Equity, and Student Achievement. Democrats fought it like it was a case of date night chlamydia! All four Democrats on the legislature’s Audit Committee voted against an audit; they being Francesca Hong (D-Madison), Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee), Bob Wirch (D-Pleasant Prairie), and Ryan Clancy (D-Milwaukee).
Gov. Tony Evers’ spokesperson, according to press accounts at the time, called Republicans’ decision to launch the audit, “the most flagrant and sweeping example to date of Republicans’ efforts in recent years to weaponize” the Legislative Audit Bureau.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: For his misdeeds, Charleston was busted down in January 2025 to a salary of $133,000 as professor in the School of Education where he is training future school superintendents. Except that he’s twiddling his thumbs at the moment; he is on voluntary paid leave through April 10.
If he coached women’s basketball he’d be on the bus to Palookaville.

Today is “Celtic Culture Appropriation Awareness Day”. No matter your ethnic background, if you see anyone who is not Irish wearing green, GET TRIGGERED! It is up to us to “Do The Work” people!!!
How much did it cost to move Chamberlain Rock?
Maybe the Democrats and the ACLU can get a Dane County Judge to sign a temporary restraining order to stop the audit just like they do in the Federal Government.
Well, he WAS fired from his Dean’s position, but retained his faculty position, which had little to do with his DEI misconduct. That seems appropriate. Also, as a former UW-Mad prof, I know of several other profs who have been fired. It happens. And the wFomen’s B-ball coach resigned, compared to Badger’s F-ball coach who was indeed fired mid-season…..
Anyone who votes for Brad Schimel to serve as a Wisconsin State Supreme Court judge is voting for an Elon Musk takeover of Wisconsin.
Musk has brought lawsuits against the state because he has been prevented from opening Tesla dealerships there. He is Schimel’s top campaign donor, thus ensuring a vote for Tesla when the case is heard at the WI Supreme Court.
This will establish an ugly precedent. Voters may think twice before selling Wisconsin to the highest bidder.
Elect Schimel AND take Russ Darrow down a notch?
Win/Win.
All the more reason to vote Schimel
You care to list the donors for Schimel’s opponent?
Better to vote for Madison liberals’ pin-up girl bought and paid for by George Soros.

Isn’t there a separate Legislative Audit Bureau evaluation going on that looks at the totality of public DEI expenditures in the state? Perhaps my reading comprehension ain’t what it used to be.
