Monitor blames police for criminal’s poor choices

Committing crime is so stressful!

Stop the presses! Madison’s independent police monitor blames police for the demise of criminal suspect Richard Lee Johnson. One day after his arrest on 12-30-24 the man died in a Madison hospital.

O.K., he had cocaine working in his blood stream. Yeah, he ran from police after stealing a car on the east side that contained a firearm; led police on a foot chase. Sure, Johnson fought with police when finally captured. His decisions. Johnson even declined the law enforcement’s offer to take him to the hospital. They did so, anyway, after Johnson showed signs of medical distress at the county jail.

The independent forensic pathologist hired by monitor Aeiramique Glass blames the police just the same.

“Cocaine may have been a predisposing or contributing factor, but was not the cause of death. But for the police actions, Richard Johnson would not have died,” concluded Dr. Victor Weedn. Although Johnson appeared alert and oriented when police questioned him, Johnson “would have been stressed while committing his crime.(More here)

Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that Johnson died from complications of cocaine toxicity. In a statement, Police chief John Patterson said he “supports the officers involved, who did everything that we train them to do and expect them to do in a situation like this one involving Mr. Johnson.”

Blaska’s Bottom Line: But for the criminal’s own decisions, Richard Johnson would still be alive. If he had agreed to be taken to the hospital in the first place, Johnson would still be alive. If he had not fought police upon his arrest, he would still be alive. If he had not run from police attempting to avoid arrest, he would still be alive. If he had not stolen that car, he would still be alive. If he had not been coked up — Richard Lee Johnson would still be alive.

Madison’s independent police monitor defunds police by other means.

What were police supposed to do?
Let him go?

The City of Madison paid Tony Robinson’s grifter relations $3.35 million after investigation of Officer Kelly (led by DA Ozanne) cleared him of legal culpability in Robinson’s death. Expect the grifter class to be on the City like flies on shi+ looking for fast payouts in the future.

Victor Weedn used to head up the medical examiner’s office in Baltimore. Apparently he hastily resigned after the body count in the autopsy line got too long. I can only assume he and Meeka knew each other in Baltimore. What exactly was that relationship?

The Reddit thread on this with Madison365 reporter Rob Chapell participating says Weedn is now an EMPLOYEE of the Dane County Medical Examiner. Seems odd… he’s claiming his new boss got the cause of death all wrong.

Chapell says his interest is piqued. Stay tuned I think the monitor may be about to become a much larger shitshow.

I wonder how his new boss feels about that? I hope he is still on probation.

They interviewed the dumb chick (I was tempted to use another c-word) who heads the IPM on one of the local tee vee stations last evening. She came across as barely able to string three words together to form a coherent sentence. I gather the monitor’s whole purpose is to scour through arrest records to find anything, no matter how dubious, that makes the cops look bad. The worthless POS who died of a coke overdose was arrested in December of 2024. It took them this long to decide that cops should have put on their kid gloves before taking him into custody?
