State Sen. Kelda Roys, D-Madison, may have the teachers union but State Rep. Francesca Hong, D-Madison, has Ilhan Omar, S-Quality Learing Center.
Honored to receive the endorsement of @ilhanmn — one of the bravest voices in politics and an unwavering champion for working people. The movement to create permanent affordability is growing, and national progressives are taking notice. A fellow socialist! The last Marquette Law School poll had Hong leading the field of nine candidates vying for the Democratic party’s nomination for governor — but only with 14%. Sen. Roys was tracking at only 1 percent. Got to think WEAC’s endorsement will boost her numbers (maybe even double them); questionable whether Ilhan Omar can do the same for Hong. Seems like the socialist thing is kind of baked in to Hong’s 14%.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Ilhan Omar brings her own baggage to Hong’s train — not that the socialists care but how does Hong grow her tent with one of the most radical figures in D.C. using up the oxygen? Omar has got to be a drag on the Democrat(ic) brand as a whole. The last thing candidates like Roys, Joel Brennan, David Crowley, and Missy Hughes would want, it would seem.
