It’s time to go negative!
Our time on this earth is all too brief, which is why we model our lives on this sacred principle: It’s never too early to go negative.
If we have a book in us, it would repudiate that 1960s tie-dyed sugar bomb, I’m O.K. — You’re O.K. Some people aren’t, which is why we have prisons and elections. No, we don’t regard progressives as bad people. (Keep repeating, We don’t …) But their political philosophy is so toxic it elected Donald Trump. Which needs to be pointed out, often, and with a sharpened stick.
Say what you will about the Trumpster (and we DO!), the megalomaniac did a service by pointing out that Kamala Harris supported the holy grail of DEI: taxpayer-paid sex change operations for prison inmates. Her campaign fired back (with Tampon Tim) and the people decided. Democracy!
Paul Fanlund at The Capital Times frets about Dane County’s political monoculture — the progressive “UniParty,” as our friend Marc Eisen labeled it. Madison WI is a one-party state where only three (all black btw) of 20 Madison alders voted to defund the independent police monitor, only now compiling its first report five years after its creation — on the arrest of the chairman of its oversight board, Maia Pearson. Who is also vice president of the school board. UniParty. A county in which only 5 of 37 supervisors dared audit the books of high-paid contractor Brandi Grayson, arrested in the same incident. UniParty.
AKA: truth in advertising
The UniParty rules this roost because its too few challengers are afraid to pin the tail on the donkey. Too polite to rip the bark off progressive incumbents who pose as friend of the taxpayer and tribune of public safety — but only at election time. Once elected, the ruling class defunds the sheriff’s department, refuses police body cameras, and jacks up property taxes 11.2% on average!
We are not managing or advising Sean Burke’s campaign for Dane County Board in the 12th supervisory district (east of the county airport) in the April 7 election. Mr. Burke is no Republican. But we like his style! Burke is taking some very hard wood to the entrenched incumbent.
Supv. Tommy Rylander bills himself as “Your Progressive Choice.” Given that he is endorsed by Progressive Dane, the local political party that regards Democrats as corporate sell outs, he has a case. Rylander has the Democrats, too. And Mayor Satya. And County Executive Agard. And the government employees labor union. Mayors of Fitchburg and Middleton, too. Did we say “UniParty”?
One of Burke’s pieces reads:
When deputies go toward danger to protect life, they deserve leaders who back them up.
Tommy Rylander voted to freeze 20 Sheriff’s deputy positions.
That’s not supporting law enforcement.
That’s weakening public safety.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: We don’t know if Sean Burke will prevail over the UniParty incumbent. But he’s giving voters a real choice.
