Blaska Policy Werkes applauds excellent public policy whatever the source. Securing the border, returning manufacturing to these shores, rooting out DEI pecksniffery, bombing Iran, fighting J.B. Pritzker — what a highlight reel! We can still criticize the President’s louche behavior. And chew gum.
The recovering journalist in us appreciates that Donald Trump is probably the most accessible President ever — not only in comparison to his sequestered predecessor but even to JFK (“Let me say this about that”). Trump meets with heads of state (how can the U.S. not do business with Saudi Arabia?) at the White House in the presence of the news media (and more gold gilt than Liberace).
But this dues-paying RINO of 34 years was ready to drop the feared Blaska Hammer of Justice all over Donald Trump’s comb-over over an incident aboard Air Force One. Asked to comment on the release of the Epstein Files (that holy grail of QAnon and CNN’s Erin Burnett), the President spit this at the female news reporter:
“Quiet, Piggy.” — President Donald Trump

Even more classless than posting imagery of dropping poop on No Kings marchers, we thought at first. Of a piece with demeaning the physical appearance of Carly Fiorina and grabbing undocumented pussy cats, we were ready to say. Until the faceless bureaucrats at Blaska Policy Werkes reviewed recordings of the entire incident. The video suggests that another journalist was in the midst of asking a question about Venezuela (soon to be the 52nd state) when a second journalist interrupted with a question of her own about Jeffrey Epstein.
Even to this former ink-stained wretch, it is apparent that the President was scolding the second reporter for hogging in by interrupting a fellow journalist, especially since Trump addressed other questions about the Epstein files — also submitted by a woman.
Maybe not misogynist — but crude and mean. And why more of us are not willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Back at what remains of the White House, Trump berated a reporter (again female) for asking about the Saudi prince’s bloody hands and then about Epstein. Trump threatens:
“I think the license should be taken away from ABC because your news is so fake and it’s so wrong. … You’re 97% negative to Trump. And then Trump wins the election in a landslide. That means, obviously, your news is not credible. And you’re not credible as a reporter.”
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Influential conservative journalist Jessica McBride finds it “very disturbing how many people WOULD be perfectly okay with the President calling a female journalist a piggy.” We worry about using Big Gummint to silence dissent — or even, snotty questions.

Agreed. Would be nicer if Trump acted more presidential. But then again, he’s dealing with rabid TDS-infected potatoes and they don’t really understand any other language (que up Jasmine Crockett, etc). I’d rather deal with Trump’s vulgarity than Biden’s drooling.

I agree with your ambivalence. As to Khashoggi, I can’t claim to know all that much about him. But my understanding is he was not some fearless crusading journalist, but just a part of the complicated inner workings of the regime who chose factions at odds with MBS and chose wrongly. Which is not to say what happened to him was right. However, if Americans are so concerned about journalists in the Middle East, perhaps they could look into Turkey a bit, which I believe LEADS THE WORLD in numbers of journalists in jail. On the other hand, MBS in my view is now participating fully in complicated negotiations that at least hold out real hope of a new, saner relationship of the Sunni oil kingdoms, Israel and the US. The press, which on the whole is obscenely close to antisemitic in its hostility to and distortions about Israel appears to be indifferent to this extremely vital process, for which Trump deserves great praise. Do I wish Trump would not step on himself so much with his peevish, ego-fragile temper. Yes, I do. But if he pulls off what he seems to be attempting, his manners, or lack of them, will be a very minor matter. As to the “Piggy” comment, I hadn’t even heard of it, and you’ve explained it well. The media is all TDS and trying to make a fool of Trump. “Gotcha” is all they’ve got. Maybe trying to get what he’s attempting to do would help a bit.
