Which raises the question for all those Election Deniers who hate WI Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (who is rumored to not be seeking re-election): If Trump can call out the Guard from Portland to (yes) Washington D.C., why does MAGA blame Nancy Pelosi for not summoning the Guard on a certain January 6 four years ago? (To embarrass an already defeated President, is the cockeyed theory.)

… the most delicious is Trump’s federal indictment of New York Attorney General Letitia James for felony mortgage fraud! Same thing litigious Letitia levied against Trump two years ago, albeit in civil court.
“This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system,” the Democrat(ic) defendant fumed.
Weaponizing the justice system is exactly what New York’s A.G. did to Trump. The lady campaigned on prosecuting him for whatever she could find. Even the New York Times today (the Bari Weiss effect?) led its account this way:

Her case against the Trump organization — that he over-valued his properties for favorable bank loans — was measured in the millions. But Trump was dealing with sophisticated New York City banks, not Bailey Savings & Loan. The banks didn’t bitch; they made good money off the deals.
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Maybe Letitia James and the original wagers of law fare deserve a little hair of the dog. Doesn’t seem happenstance that Trump is pressuring Brazil to drop charges against former president Jair Bolsonaro — for attempting a coup! (What a coincidence!) Old Major Bowes of the radio’s Original Amateur Hour used to say (history tells): “Round and round she goes, where she stops, nobody knows.”

There is no lawfare on stolen land.
There was no “stolen land”, the land and native people were conquered and sort of assimilated. Note, the lack of genuine assimilation of the native Americans over the years is mostly their choice. Life is all about choices.

I watched a video the other day by an Art history professor at UW-Madison, who started her lecture by reminding her audience that the University sits on stolen land. It wouldn’t surprise me that the faculty got a memo from the DEI Dean “suggesting” they begin all public pronouncement with that little caveat.

After rereading everything, I agree with you fjarckle, that makes more sense than how I read it. Based on the whole context, I think I did a bit of unwarranted extrapolation.

With respect to Letitia James, and assuming the allegations against her are true, the (relatively) trivial amount arguably aggravates the nature of her offense. That the most important law enforcement official in the state would commit such a blatant fraud (again, assuming the allegations true) for a few bucks signifies that she thinks herself above the law. Deterrence is in order, not just her but other state officials who might be tempted to defraud a lender.
As Letitia James said about Trump “No one is above the law” including Letitia James and James Comey.
Yet again we see “When you want to know what the conniving Dems are up to… check out what they accuse Republicans of doing.”
