High court’s ‘opt out’ ruling could spur more school choice

If public schools keep teaching Woke culture
instead of the three R’s!

Progressives predict chaos as the result of Friday’s U.S. Supreme Court decision, decided 6 to 3 in favor of parents who want to withdraw their children from LGBTQ+ indoctrination in public schools. They’re probably right about the chaos. Wonderful, pluralistic, democratic chaos.

Theoretically and now legally, parent opt outs could fill school cafeterias for all kinds of reasons. “The fight is far from over,” predicts a lawyer at WI Institute for Law & Liberty.

Don’t ask this guy!

Mahmoud v. Taylor 2025 arose from mandatory classroom indoctrination beginning in kindergarten with story time about two male knights who marry each other. Another features a biological girl who transitions to a boy. (There’s equity for ya!)

Teachers in a Maryland district in the D.C. metro area were told to teach, “When we’re born, people make a guess about our gender and label us ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ based on our body parts. Sometimes they’re right and sometimes they’re wrong.” But “the community” is never wrong. Right?

Remember when schools taught reading and writing? No one knows the difference any more between “your” and “you’re,” much less what is woman! (Don’t ask Tim Walz!)

We read that liberal Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson argued that instead of the constant opt outs, parents should remove their children from public schools. Good idea! The Werkes wishes progressives would embrace school choice.

The Werkes discovered an outfit called “Democrats for Education Reform.” Like finding Jeff Bezos at a Mamdani rally. The organization argues:

Despite the Democratic Party’s deep roots as the party for equity, too many Democratic leaders were protecting a public education system that maintained a deeply inequitable status quo.

The argument being that poor kids — often minorities — are trapped in poor schools. We fell back to earth learning that the org has chapters in only 8 states: none of them Wisconsin. Dems for Ed Reform laments: “Not one of the 18 states where Democrats control both the legislature and the governor’s office had any substantial measure enacted to expand public school choice.”

 The state decides the truth

Law professor Jonathan Turley quotes a school board member in Iowa to say:

“The purpose of a public ed is to not teach kids what the parents want. It is to teach them what society needs them to know. The client is not the parent, but the community.”

Like China! Its communist government forces Tibetan children into state-run boarding schools “to gut Tibetan culture and blunt generations of opposition to Communist party rule,” the Wall Street Journal reports. We side with Mr. Eric Baxter, lawyer for Becket Fund for Religious Liberty:

“Public schools are not an instrument of the state to force children into conformity — they serve the needs of the parents.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Or should. No one this side of Stephen Miller would opt out of schools that encourage kindness. Or prevent bullying. (Harvard, take notice!) But teachers unions and Democrats on their payroll argue that religious choice schools, for instance, might teach the Doctrine of Transubstantiation. Is that worse than teaching the 1619 Project, that racist America was founded as a refuge for slavery? At least Jonah and the Whale is a fun read.

The Bible may instill faith
but does it also require literacy?

This ruling went against the Montgomery County School Board (immediate suburb of DC) that had decided to force kids to sit through gender indoctrination classes, even though very, very many parents didn’t want their kids to be exposed to this stuff. I am from the DC area. Went to HS and college there in Fairfax VA. Dated a girl from the the Montgomery SD before she transferred to the Stone Ridge Girls Day School in Bethesda (Nicknamed Stoned Ridged, and where the Kennedy’s sent their girls and where I met Maria Shriver and partied at her house with my HS gf). I stayed with my Dad in NoVa and went to church with him on Sunday about 10 years ago. He was bragging that the adult Sunday school was being taught by a “doctor”. He was impressed. The “teacher” began saying she was going to talk about biblical examples of “equity.” She offered none. She offered the educrat definition of equity were everyone succeeds regardless of accomplishment. I asked it she had an education background and she replied that she was a member of the Montgomery School Board!! Fast forward a few years…..

Richard, it’s always a pleasure to see your smiling face on a thread!

A: You’re a little off topic here, but since your side has been losing pretty much everything lately, it’s nice for The Man to give you a pass.
B: Don’t count your tax cuts until they’re signed into law.
And C: Speaking of Dementia, have you read the Tapper/Thompson book yet? The Atlantic called it “[The] most significant book to date about Biden’s cognitive decline.” No? It’s been on the Amazon top 20 list for 5 weeks now.
      Come on, man.

Liesack, like most Dems, are in denial and continue to froth at the mouth about anything Trump. It’s amazing how they can pick the losing side on EVERY issue.

“We all know about Biden and being in decline. What does it mean in today’s world? NADA.”

Wrong. You clearly haven’t read the book. What it means is that the Democrats and the Biden administration orchestrated the biggest political cover-up since Watergate in a feeble attempt to hold on to power. It means at an unelected Politburo of advisors was in charge of the country instead and took advantage of an ailing president to further their agendas. It means that they and their big media sycophants intimidated and gaslit anyone that questioned Biden’s mental fitness, even those in their own camp. It means that Biden’s arrogance handed the White House to Trump and Congress to the Republicans. It means that the electorate rightly punished the Democrats at the ballot box for their deception and for undemocratically nominating an incompetent and untested leftist when her boss’s mental state was out for all to see. And it means the electorate will continue to punish them since there has been no apology from anyone who was in on this colossal snow job.

I’m happy for the abortion ruling as well. Chris Taylor won’t have it as a campaign issue.

      Other great things include:

      1. The WI Supreme Court refusing to hear a Democrat case for gerrymandering the congressional districts.
      2. NASDAQ 500 hitting an all time high.
      3. Kirk Bangstad’s rap sheet growing after continuing to harass a news publisher that already had a restraining order against him.
