Democrats are stuck on fly paper

No one is above the law — except progressive judges!

The Head Groundskeeper is old enough to remember fly paper — a mainstay of every farm house in those days. Suspended from the light fixture over the kitchen table, a sticky strip of inch-wide paper buzzed with the desperate death struggle of the common housefly, inches above our daily bread. We thought of that background buzzing after the arrest of Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan, from all the usual suspects.

Judge Hannah Dugan

Our progressive Democrat(ic) … acquaintances cannot help themselves. The pheromones of performative victimhood are too strong to resist the lessons of November 5, 2024. That date would or should live in infamy, for it is when the party of open borders, DEI, and cop bashing went down to defeat. But Dr. Pavlov is at work here and tens of thousands of progressive knees are jerking in defense of a once-legally deported alien who snuck back into the country to commit, it is charged in criminal court, domestic battery. Their hero is the judge who tried to subvert justice by springing the defendant out the back door to freedom.

The federal court complaint lays out the scenario. Judge Dugan injudiciously vented on the immigration agents sent to enforce the law, directed them on a wild goose chase to the chief judge, then spirited Señor Eduardo Flores Ruiz through restricted passageways. Never calling the case against him and leaving the victims without justice. (U.S. Justice Dept release here.)

Here’s a round-up of the buzzing heard from the Biden/Kamala Left who made this scenario so very possible.

 Very frightening!

What they have done is drive away people from participating in legitimate courthouse activities. … They are not going to take part in court if they are worried about being swept up in immigration enforcement. Our community is safer when victims and witnesses appear voluntarily in court. — Cavalier Johnson, mayor of Milwaukee.

Um, if Joe Biden had enforced immigration law, your town might have been safer.

Rep. Lee Snodgrass, D-Appleton is “alarmed.”  “Since his election, President Trump and his administration have chosen to weaponize the legal system for political ends.”

New York AG Letitia James charging Trump with pulling the wool over the eyes of cutthroat New York bankers, who had no complaints — that wasn’t weaponizing the legal system for political ends?

U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI): “By relentlessly attacking the judicial system, flouting court orders, and arresting a sitting judge, this President is putting … basic democratic values … on the line.” We think the Senator meant to capitalize “Democratic.”

Democrats’ leader in the WI Senate, Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) called Judge Dugan’s arrest “frightening.”  U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (D-2nd) told Axios that the arrest is “stuff I expect from Third World countries” and called for an investigation into the arrest.

 Birds of a feather

The Republican party of Sawyer County WI reports that Judge Monica Isham is threatening not to hold court because of Hannah Dugan’s arrest. She wrote that she has “no intention of allowing anyone to be taken out of my courtroom by ICE and sent to a concentration camp” and she is threatening to raise defendants’ bail as a result.

Gov. Tony Evers’ administration last week sent a memo to state employees directing them to decline answering questions if they encounter a federal immigration officer at their workplace. He criticized the judge’s arrest.

WI Democrats are making common cause with the Democratic Socialists of America, who “condemn the FBI arrest of a Milwaukee County judge.”

Milwaukee has an Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression. Their demand: “Drop the charges on Judge Dugan! All power to all the people! The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign is “deeply troubled.”

When courthouses become sites of detention, particularly for those from immigrant communities … victims may hesitate to report crimes.

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Victims will also hesitate to report crimes when perps are ushered out the back door and onto the streets of Milwaukee by law enforcement, at whose pinnacle our judges sit.

Remember when Democrats said
no one is above the law?

I love how you decorated the judge. I don’t know why she didn’t think of that. Great column! I love all the reactions, etc. But the best- FLY PAPER!!! You needed those strips in the summer when the backdoor spring didn’t always cut it and kids were going in and out. Ahhh you took me back to the early 60s when Pa would have them hanging over any entry to keep those dirty little pests from the food. Then the kids’ movie theater showed the Vincent Price version of “The Fly” and wrecked it all.

She’ll probably get those exact tats as an “act of protest.”

    BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA.
No one is above the law except Hannah Dugan and the Biden Family Inc.
If the Deep State can arrest a once and future president then ANYONE can be arrested, indicted, fined excessively and hounded by made up laws.
Every Prog loved it when they gored our bull but they opened Pandora’s Box, to mix a metaphor, and the gloves are off. Let’s see Dugan’s mug shot. On second thought, let’s not.
What goeth before a fall judges? Pride. What cometh then? Karma.
    Trump! You magnificent bastard!

No one is above the law? Tell that to Dementia Don. He thumbs his nose at the courts every day.

No judicial warrant was shown during this incident. Due process was not served.

Trump’s ICE thugs demonstrated an attack on the judiciary in real time.

It’s called political theatre–something you’d no doubt celebrate if its target was a Republican.

No, I would not celebrate the false arrest of any citizen, because our rights as Americans are compromised when due process is not applied, as clearly happened here.

I know you don’t think that Trump was falsely arrested, but boy did he give the mugshot for the ages!

How fortunate you are, Gary, to have time to consider whether an action put forth by the Trump regime is performance art or reality.

Didn’t need a judicial warrant. Had an administrative warrant as Ruiz had once already been lawfully deported and illegally broke into the country a second time.

An administrative warrant does not carry the legal authority to compel an action, only a judicial warrant does.

“..often ICE agents carry a warrant signed by ICE officials, but these do not carry the same legal weight as a warrant signed by a judge (judicial warrant).”

Further, “Judicial warrants are issued by a court and signed by a judge…the date should be recent, otherwise it is considered as no longer valid.”

He’d already been legally deported. Had illegally re-entered the U.S. The original judicial warrant still stands.

I’ll bite: If there is an original judicial warrant in this case, why did ICE agents have an administrative warrant? 😃

        3. David Blaska Avatar

Why make me do your research? This is what AI Google gave me: A judicial warrant is a court order issued by a judge or magistrate that authorizes a search or arrest. An administrative warrant is an ICE-issued document that authorizes an arrest or seizure, but it does not authorize a search and is not signed by a judge.

Squire: I did my research and delineated it in my posts. I defined and stated the difference between an administrative and judicial warrant.

You first said no judicial warrant was needed because agents had an administrative warrant. Then you claimed there is a valid judicial warrant, leading to my logical question of why they needed to have an administrative one.

I did my research. I named my sources. My opinion is that no judicial warrant exists. However, my “research” tells me that administrative warrants are good to use in public spaces.

          It’s been an interesting chat.

“No one is above the law” as the democrats always say unless it is one of them and all of a sudden it isn’t right. If convicted will she loose her judgeship and law license?

This judge is a smart woman and did not do this for no reason. Patel made one post and a minute later took it down. Something is wrong with their case against her. why the silence? Another screw up by the Feds? ICE is being run worse than Hegseths’ pentagon. Anyone left there besides his make-up lady? This story is far from over.

The Evers memo makes sense. Note it says ICE or other Federal agents. He should probably just shut up about the Judge and let it go through the legal system.
