Democracy dies in a monoculture!
We are not the first to notice that conservatism is Kool and the Gang, again. Give it to The Donald, he’s giving this climate-changing snow globe of ours a good shake it up, baby. Disagree with some, cheering much, waiting and watching the rest. We keep our options open.
“Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy [four years].” — Margo Channing
Paul Krugman is quitting the New York Times. Jim Acosta is leaving CNN. Owner Jeff Bezos is ordering his Washington Post to add more conservative voices. This new White House is letting bloggers and podcasters into its press briefings. Roseanne Barr is plotting her comeback with a new comedy series about a family that “Saves America with guns, the Bible, petty crime, and alcoholism.” (Sounds like a Republican caucus meeting.)
Keeping an open mind
News junkies here at the Werkes toggle between the big three cable news networks. We do not drink from one teat. But 5 minutes of Joy Reid drives us screaming down the fluorescent-lighted corridors. Rachel Maddow, Al Sharpton & Co. are doing more to kill progressivism than anyone in MAGA nation. As practicing news scribblers in a past life, ourselves, the uxoriousness of Laura Ingraham and Sean Trumpitty on Fox produces hypoglycemic shock. Only Jesus the Christ was without sin, fanboys!
Even so, the Werkes managed the vertical flutter on its b&w Philco in time to catch Trump immigration panjandrum Stephen Miller kung fu fighting CNN host Jake Tapper.
Might there come the day when Anderson Cooper, Erin Burnett & Co. debate, interrupt, contradict, and talk over their progressive, liberal, and Democrat(ic) news guests as they do Republicans? When might CNN moderators allow Scott Jennings to complete a thought, outnumbered as the Republican is by panels stacked with progressive dancing queens?
Blaska’s Bottom Line: Who on CNN, MSNBC, the legacy networks, the NY Times, WaPost, NPR, or Associated Press blew the whistle on Joe Biden’s senescence? Dug into Hunter’s laptop? Reported the migrant crisis before the November election? Here’s an idea: Give Scott Jennings his own hour in prime time CNN. Here’s a better idea: give Blaska his own weekly column in the Wisconsin State Journal. Shake up that incense and peppermints editorial page! Let the Head Groundskeeper play Inna Gadda da Vida on Neil Hind End’s old spot at WISC-TV3. Watch the ratings soar!
Who’s the straightest shooter in Journalism?
(Besides You Know Who, of course)

Peanut gallery here. Laughing out loud on one’s own may or may not be a sign of (right on time vs. early) dementia, but yes indeed, your column today made me laugh. Must be that the longest January (for me since grammar school) is finally ending and we have a new moon to go with it. I’m currently watching the RFK hearings and marveling at his courage, his honesty and sincerity. Just Wow! And some of those senators should be relegated to hanging overcoats. I’d love to see you in print, but would never subscribe to the WSJ. It hurt my head to read it when I lived there, so I used it for my pet rat cage. They loved it while never admitting to being left of center. I appreciate all your observations, your twisty prose and original ideas for fixing things, but most of all, your music references – what an era, eh! Blood, Sweat and Tears and Motown. AHHHH! Lastly, detractors of an idea (a position in which you have served admirably) are great when they make one question the idea, and dig those heels in even deeper after careful reconsideration. I’d rather see you sitting with Greg Gutfeld or Joe Rogan. But that’s just MHO. CHEERS!
Yes, I thought Bobby Junior really gave it to Princess She Who Hectors. Senator Elizabeth Warren asked if RFK Jr would promise not to sue drug companies. His answer amounted to “Are you kidding!?”
They forgot to ask him when he quit beating his wife.
“Princess She Who Hectors. Senator Elizabeth Warren”
Ivory Soap is 99.44% pure; after her (heh!) DNA test results came back, “Harvard Law’s 1st Woman Of Color” is literally whiter than that.
Why is it only Lefty (Tin Lizzie, Rachel Dolezal, Shaun King, Ward Churchill, etc., etc., etc.) fakes ethnicity?

I got my neighbor’s account, so I can do the e-edition.
You must keep up to date on the shenanigans of the mini swamp. You still live there. From my Gulf of America lanai I only have to follow the comments of those I did indeed leave behind. Sorry for deserting ship. Couldn’t take the crazy and the cold.
I had no idea I was quoting -would definitely have given all credit. Thanks for that. I still have progeny and friends up in that 77 SMSBASOR, so I care as much as I can from over 1K away. For the more pertinent (to me anyway) record, it’s 80 today. And if it snows – well, I’ll just go South-er. Cheers!
You’re going to have to get off the main drag to find the straightest shooter in journalism. I’ll nominate Glenn Greenwald who is likely hated by both parties.
“5 minutes of Joy Reid drives us screaming down the fluorescent-lighted corridors.”
That’s 297 seconds longer than The Gotch would give that homophobic RAYcist stank ‘Ho!

With Lefty plummeting at a terminal velocity clip, you may never have to interrupt ’em again.

Second OE on Greenwald, with a H/T to Bari Weiss, Matt Taibbi, Michael Cieply (SHOCKED BY TRUMP: NYT Finds Time For Soul Searching is a must read!), and a few to named later; Chris Rickert & Ann Althouse locally.

Just for grins, Monday we watched the view at the cabin. Uff da. Needed more vodka in the bloody Marys. Although, Fetterman was interesting, and he did get pi$$ off some of the panelists.
One of your best Squire. “Uxorious”? Love it!
Uxoriousness is what caused the Thesauruses to go extinct, correct?
“Uxoriousness is what caused the Thesauruses to go extinct, correct?” (bolds mine)
Shouldn’t that be Thesauri…?

EE-ther, or EYE-ther, depending on your pre-FER-ence of pro-NOUN-ciation!
To be “uxorious” is to show submissive fondness toward one’s wife. I think you meant something like “toadying” or “deferential,” which can be applied to both sexes.
You’ll get nothing.. and like it!

And lefty is imploding.
It’s the start of a new golden age for mental health therapists in Madison WI.
Be kind at your next WisACT event.
Go kash, rfk jr, tulsi, all three show “how we can be unburdened by what has been” and have real adults back in charge of these agencies. Bring it on.
“And lefty is imploding.”
Sugarcoat it whydoncha…
The Gotch sees it a tad differently: More like a dangerous, yet voluntary, immersion into a catatonic, apoplectic, pillow-biting, pants $#!tting, bed wetting, wind-sucking, chest palpitating, vital sign ramping, mouth-breathing, fist-pounding, foot stomping, safe-space seeking, triggering, weenie-whiny, simpering-whimpering, complete metaphysical, emotional, existential, psychological, philosophical, full-throated, freaking out, melting down, spittle-flecked, furiously-frothing, totally collapsing free-fall.
