‘We’ve seen fire and we’ve seen drought’

Too much rain and climate change!🎵

Gavin Newsom has reached a deal with California Democrats to “Trump-proof the state.” Cost: $50 million, Politico is reporting. “How about a little fire-proofing?Alyssa Finley counters in the Wall Street Journal.

“California officials portray themselves as the victims of climate change. The issue here was an excess of rain, which led to the growth of vegetation, followed by a drought.

Both rain and drought, as it happens, are now attributed to climate change. — National Review

Before 1800, California lost an average of around 4.5 million acres to fires every year, the Wall Street Journal reports. By the end of the 20th century that average dropped to around 250,000 acres. But in 2020 California suffered a single-year loss of 4.3 million acres to wildfires. … “Environmental studies … now cost millions of dollars and take an average of 5.3 years for forest-thinning projects in California to get approved. Often the cost amounts to more than the value of the timber itself.”

MSNBC is bringing in the big guns for Donald Trump’s first 100 days — or, rather, big gun. Rachel Maddow. The far left opinion outlet has been hemorrhaging viewers. We guess they figure, why stop now?

“Donald Trump supporters who carried out violence during the US Capitol attack in early January 2021 should not be pardoned by him after he begins his second presidency, JD Vance said Sunday.” — The Guardian reports.

Trump supporters carried out violence on January 6? Is J.D. Vance a RINO?

Trump’s garbage truck, which he rode ahead of a rally in Green Bay, will be part of his inauguration parade.

Green Bay Packer mascot?

48 Democrats voted for Republicans’ Laken Riley Act, named after the murdered college student, that would require Homeland Security to detain illegal migrants arrested for burglary, theft, or shoplifting. But not Wisconsin’s Gwen Moore, D-Milw, or Mark Pocan, D-Hamas. In the Senate, Democrats Ruben Gallego and John Fetterman co-sponsored the bill.

Stacey Abrams endorses Wisconsin’s Ben Wikler for DNC boss. (Source here) Stacey Abrams, the two-time loser and election denier from Georgia? Ben Wikler? Works for us!

If we’re going to rename The Gulf of Mexico, what do we call New Mexico? For what it’s worth, the French call the English Channel “La Manche” (“The sleeve”).

Is Bobby Jr. right? And the John Birch Society? “High fluoride exposure linked to lower I.Q. in children, study finds.” — NY Times. Studies are always finding something! Now about that class ring I lost ..

Um, don’t always believe women. “A prosecutor in the Denver district attorney’s office … was been ordered disbarred after framing a male colleague for sexual harassment.” — NY Times. As evidence, offered a smartphone screen shot dated AFTER she filed her complaint! Then claimed she dropped her laptop in her bath and spilled water on her phone.

 (Jalen) Hurts to watch football

Seems to this couch coach that the game of football, at all levels, pauses three or four times per game for a player to writhe on the ground before being loaded onto the meat wagon or disappearing into the first aid tent where, presumably, Hot Lips Houlihan and Trapper John work by flashlight. Four Packers were injured in Sunday’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. (Who have a live eagle as mascot. If the Packers had a mascot, would it be a butcher with an axe and bloody apron?)

Best stats we could find was an NIH study of the preseason and first 4 weeks of the regular season for four seasons up to and including 2020-21. Total injuries: 3,025. That’s just crazy!

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Anyone else think Jordan Love’s wing wasn’t one hundred percent Sunday against Philly?

Could Malik Willis have rallied the Pack?

Those flippin’ AlarmaCYSTS are a real hoot, am I right? To wit:

    (bolds/caps mine throughout)
Dr. David Viner, Senior Research Scientist/ Climate Research Unit (CRU)-East Anglia University, U.K. (of ClimateGate infame) in 2000: ”Within a very few years WINTER SNOWFALL WILL BECOME ‘A VERY RARE AND EXCITING EVENT. CHILDREN JUST AREN’T GOING TO KNOW WHAT SNOW IS.’ ”

    5 of the 6 (heh!) snowiest winters in U.S. history (’03, ’08, ’10, ’11, ’13) quickly ensued.

Tipping Points are issued, come and go, and just like the nutcase Preachers, the nutcase AlarmaCYSTS simply reissue, and Chicken Little Lefty follows cluelessly along, glassy eyein’ lock steppin & unquestionin.’

In 2001 global warming meant fewer major snowstorms with SOME SCIENTISTS EVEN PREDICTING THE END OF SNOW, but IN 2015 GLOBAL WARMING MEANS MORE MAJOR SNOWSTORMS.

    Say what?

“Some scientists are now saying global temperature rises will lead to more massive snowstorms like the one that covered Boston in several feet of snow this week (mid March 2018) — a complete turnaround from what climate scientists were saying just a few years ago.

“In 2001, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (UNIPCC) reported that ‘milder winter temperatures will decrease heavy snowstorms.

“The IPCC doubled down on this claim in 2007, saying that ‘a growing number of case studies of larger settlements indicate that climate change is likely to increase heat stress in summers while reducing cold-weather stresses in

      Miscounted; sorry, Blaska!

That mean AlarmaCYSTS were against more snow before they were for it?

Cherry picking quotes to validate your bias? And a quote from a quarter of a century ago predicting what our climate now would be?? But, you knew better all along didn’t you???

        Cherry picking quotes?

They’re from a Senior Climate Researcher and the f*****g UNIPCC, predicting…nay…GUARANTEEING all manner of gloom-n-doom, getting caught with their hempen homespun trousers down, and promptly blaming their suspenders.

Here’s some more: (bolds/caps mine throughout)
*Dr. Phil Jones: ”I can’t see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report. K (Kevin Trenberth) and I will keep them out somehow – EVEN IF WE HAVE TO REDEFINE WHAT THE PEER-REVIEW PROCESS IS!”
*Dr. Phil Jones: ”If they ever hear there is a Freedom of Information Act now in the UK, I think I’LL DELETE THE FILE rather than send to anyone … We also have a data protection act, which I will hide behind.”
*Dr. Phil Jones: ”PS I’m getting hassled by a couple of people to release the CRU station temperature data. DON’T ANY OF YOU THREE TELL ANYBODY THAT THE UK HAS A FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT.”
*Dr. Kevin Trenberth: ”WHERE THE HECK IS THE GLOBAL WARMING?”
*Dr. Phil Jones: “I HOPE YOU’RE NOT RIGHT ABOUT THE LACK OF WARMING LASTING TILL ABOUT 2020.
And the coup d’ effin’ grâce:
*Dr. Kevin Trenberth: THE FACT IS THAT WE CAN’T ACCOUNT FOR THE LACK OF WARMING AT THE MOMENT AND IT IS A TRAVESTY THAT WE CAN’T

Just good honest Climate Scientists doing good honest Climate Research, am I right?

Anywho, stay in your lane (accusing Blaska of “class warfare crap”), it’s not quite so cringeworthy.

Have we really sunk so low Dave that now, when disaster hits, relief depends upon whether you are a red state or a blue state. Has Trumps psychopathic narcissism now afflicted the remnants of sane folks in the Republican Party.

I don’t remember Trump or you reaming out Gov. Desantis in 2022 when Florida pleaded with Congress for a special disaster appropriation to help recover from Hurricane Ian, when a major share was to pay to rebuild inadequately strengthened homes in flood devastated areas, so real estate crooks could get rich often for millionaires. Even though DeSantis, in his former role as Congressman, had vehemently fought assistance for NYC from Hurricane Sandy, the Democratic House voted to aid Florida without this phony song and dance, like the social media blast claiming the LA fires were their own fault for slashing the Fire Department budget, which is not true, while ignoring the rapid acceleration in global warming, faster than anyone had hitherto predicted.

Could I ask you where do you want to nudge the country with your blogs … because, as a friend, it is hard to distinguish what you’re doing from those who want to destroy this country by enraging the other half (and remember it is a 50%/50% country swinging back and forth) to eventually give up being Mr. Nice Guy (by no longer not calling any election that they lose as stolen, and any disaster in a state controlled by the other party to be their fault and not aidable.

Please, step back for a moment and pause before you leap without thought to repeating the worst hucksters of your party line (and yes, my party has the same hucksters), snap yourself from the Trump fever, and think that, today, I am going to put our country first.

Governor DeSantis does not spend his state’s treasury on DEI. Hasn’t cut police or fire. Hasn’t declared a sanctuary state. Won’t ban gasoline. Not building high-speed rail to nowhere. Isn’t subsidizing homelessness. I have said before and I say again that the risk market must be allowed to work. The suggestion for California is to harden against fire via brush control etc. Fireproof construction. Florida has hurricane resistant construction codes and $10,000 grants for retrofit. My beef with Gavin is that he expends public funds to somehow reverse climate change instead of adjusting to it.

Hey; everyone knows it’s those GD lesbians who refuse to listen to MTG and seed the clouds. Also; blame Newsome for not signing the nonexistent Water Restoration Act. In Dec 44 gop reps and 10 gop Senators voted no on the American Relief Act which would have funded Construction and maintenance of fuel breaks I think they voted no because of the rumor that a lesbian Hispanic was washing dishes in the congressional cafeteria.

Re: Packer’s mascot. The current team name makes that a problem, as Blaska pointed out. Several years ago, the PETA crazies suggested that the Packers change their name, since it referred back to early days as a team sponsored by a meat (gasp) packing plant. PETA suggested changing their name to a more vegan-friendly name, the Pickers! Imagine the mascot for that team….

After hearing that 50 million has been donated to help out fellow Americans in California and 10 grand given to help Rudy pay his lawyers tRump has started his own Go Fund Me site. Son Eric is in charge of the money and has pledged to keep no more than 99% for his father. The other 1% will be used to pay MAGA supporters to start more fires so as to keep the money flowing into their offshore account. Donations to be sent to FIREDONALDTRUMP.ORG.
