Conservatives keep mum on campus
We yield to WI Assembly Speaker Robin Vos for the following:

Survey: UW students afraid to express views |
![]() The University of Wisconsin campuses conducted a survey about free speech, and the results show a very different college experience based on students’ political beliefs. Around 10,500 students across 13 campuses responded. Republican and right-leaning students report they’re silenced, pressured to agree with instructors, and face unwelcoming environments. Liberal and left-leaning students however have a much friendlier college experience. Most conservative students said they’re afraid to express their views on controversial topics in class because they fear other students won’t agree or it could hurt their grades. A third of all respondents said they’ve felt pressure from an instructor to agree with a certain viewpoint. Conservative students report instructors stifle them in the classroom and made them uncomfortable when expressing their views. Only about a third of the students said they’d been taught at least something about the First Amendment, which guarantees free speech, in their classes. The survey revealed a depth of intolerance among many students. Left-leaning students are far more comfortable expressing their views, whereas nearly 70% of right-leaning students are not comfortable and report receiving much worse treatment. This is an institutional failure. College should be a place that allows for a free flow of ideas and diverse viewpoints. |

Blaska’s Bottom Line: Overt disruptions make good TV, like the extensive graffiti defacing Alumni Park and the UW Memorial Union in October over a scheduled speech by conservative Matt Walsh. But the survey documents the silent repression that such criminality enforces on a daily basis. What do you expect of a school that hauls away a 42-ton boulder when a small gaggle of social justice warriors accuse it of racism?
There is a public meeting Feb 22 at Grainger Hall, noon, to discuss the survey results ….

The survey results should surprise no one. UW-Madison, like most colleges and universities across the country, has spent decades cultivating an atmosphere of repression and leftist group-think and when called out, they engage in denial and obfuscation. Besides removing racist rocks (as far as I know, UW-Madison holds the record), they create a place utterly divorced from reality, where made-up things like microaggressions and safe spaces and white privilege and diversity, equity and inclusion zealots and layers of redundant, overpaid administrators hold sway.
And what should we expect now that the survey results are in? Business as usual.

“College should be a place that allows for a free flow of ideas and diverse viewpoints.”
Used to be that way; many comedians (Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, at al, career Lefties themselves) won’t book college gigs because despicable Lefty snowFLAKES get triggered at the drop of a Rainbow Tam.
Is The SNOWFLAKE GENERATION Really About To Kill Off Comedy?
Heck, it even disgusts Über Lefty Bill Maher, who correctly notes: “UC Berkeley used to be the Cradle Of Free Speech, now it’s just the Cradle For F*CKING BABIES.
“What would be the reaction if progressive speech were silenced?”
Despicable REgressive Lefty snowFLAKES would embrace a dangerous, yet voluntary, immersion into a catatonic, apoplectic, pillow-biting, pants $#!tting, bed wetting, wind-sucking, chest palpitating, vital sign ramping, mouth-breathing, fist-pounding, foot stomping, safe-space seeking, triggering, weenie-whiny, simpering-whimpering, complete metaphysical, emotional, existential, psychological, philosophical, full-throated, freaking out, melting down, spittle-flecked, furiously-frothing, totally collapsing free-fall.

This does not surprise me as the MMSD prepares them well for this. When my son was in school, they were asked to do research and write a paper about a subject they were interested in. He chose gun control and the second amendment. He did a lot of research trying to be objective about both arguments for and against. I read his paper and thought that he did a great job of presenting both sides without leaning overboard one direction or the other. He normally did very good in this class but was only given a C. The teacher viewed the subject matter as inappropriate but gave him a passing grade because it was apparent that he had done a reasonable amount of research on the inappropriate subject. Despite this, a person in their “Journalism” class posted an article in the school newspaper regarding gun control making statements that you can buy guns on the internet and have them sent to your house as well as walk in a gun store and purchase a gun with no background checks. I wrote to the Principal regarding the article and stated that there were few facts and obviously little or no research done to support their statements, making this at best a very poor piece of “Journalism”. I asked if it was reviewed by teachers or anyone prior to publication. Hard to believe but, I never got a response from the Principal. My son often stated that maybe if he were more “left” than “right” that he may get better grades. I told him that regardless, he never needs to compromise his position. I told both Principals and Administrators, that their job is to educate my kids and not to indoctrinate them. Never got responses from those e-mails or letters either. Neither of our sons went on to school. One of the factors was that they were well aware that most likely things would be worse on a college campus.

Interesting chart. One other thing it shows is a direct correlation between being conservative and the feeling of being a victim. A MAGA trait that runs deep.

I suspect that this sniffling of conservative thought is in liberal arts, no pun intended, not the hard sciences, business school, and engineering. Math is math, regardless of one’s political point of view. Anyways even if these kids come out of college liberal a vast majority will become conservative as the start working, have a family, pay taxes, etc…Not all but enough. Look at all those of the anti Vietnam war generation, by 1980 enough turned around and votes for Reagan.

First, I commend your excellent job of parenting. Second, I suggest you present yourself at the door of the Principal, introduce yourself and state your reason for showing up. Then demand either an immediate audience or that one be scheduled–soon. It’s way too easy for overpaid administrators to hide from accountability; they need to be confronted physically and made to explain their obviously bigoted policies.

Well at least the students at the university are not being thrown out of the university and then arrested for expressing viewpoints that go against the “woke” class. YET!
This from Canada. https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-catholic-high-school-student-suspended-then-arrested-for-saying-there-are-only-two-genders
So for defending the word of God as written in the Bible this kid gets kicked out of a Catholic high school and then arrested for daring to return to it.
