Was Waukesha a racial hate crime?

Darrell Brooks expressed a ‘hostility towards white people’

We cannot say Darrell Brooks chose to  to deliberately kill and maim almost 50 holiday revelers in Waukesha WI. The 39-year-old Milwaukee man was fleeing the most recent crime in his 22-year history of criminality (that we know of). Perhaps it is only bad karma that his escape route took him over street barricades and into a slow-moving parade of children and oldsters celebrating the holidays.

Waukesha’s downtown streets are a confusing corn maze. You want to flee the crime scene, take the Interstate!

We cannot say that Darrell Brooks is racial vigilante — that the horror he unleashed is payback for Kenosha. Milwaukee BLM says it is, but we await the full ministrations of the legal system. We extend the benefit of the doubt by quoting the left-leaning Daily Beast to debunk the theory that Waukesha was a racial hate crime:

First, [conservative activist Andy] Ngo insisted Brooks had shown his support for, “BLM causes, George Floyd & black nationalism,” in various old social media posts allegedly belonging to Brooks. (The Daily Beast cannot confirm the veracity of the posts, as Brooks’ social media accounts have all since been locked.)

Neither can they debunk. Back to the Daily Beast:

Brooks had shared a falsified and anti-semitic Hitler quote. He’d also praised a George Floyd mural and stuck positive emojis above cartoon about racial profiling by the police. Other posts allegedly attributable to Brooks and distributed by Ngo included a sound cloud track critical of former President Trump and a photo of a fruit bowl that had been carved into a raised fist plus the letters “BLM.”

Then the Daily Beast whistles past the graveyard:

In other posts, [Brooks] expresses hostility towards white people, gives a thumbs up to a black nationalist group, and cheers the removal of statues, along with others justifying his previous crimes and sharing his untalented rap music.”

• “WI Democrats have a Kenosha problem.” — Charlie Sykes!

• Milwaukee District Attorney John Chisholm, Democrat:  “Is there going to be an individual I divert, or I put into treatment program, who’s going to go out and kill somebody? You bet. Guaranteed. It’s guaranteed to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach.”

• Squad member U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Michigan, on emptying the prisons.

Waukesha comes at a bad time …

On much less evidence, Kyle Rittenhouse is a “vigilante” who “shot up a racial justice protest,” according to John Nichols who writes for Madison’s Defund Police publication. That’s what progressives call arson, looting, and rioting these days: “a racial justice protest!”

Nichols casts the verdict of 12 Kenosha County citizens as no better than the racist Dred Scott and “separate but equal” court decisions. The Werkes cribs from a letter in today’s Wall Street Journal

“Progressives … have shamelessly made martyrs of a child molester, a domestic abuser, and an armed communist revolutionary, all emboldened by the powers that be to attack a Wisconsin town. They met one guy holding a rifle, instead of the hundreds with badges who should have been there to stop them. That charges were even filed demonstrates that fear of the mob prevails. … If video evidence of marauders pursuing and attacking Mr. Rittenhouse didn’t exist, or had the African-American assailant he shot at and missed been hit, Mr. Rittenhouse would probably now be in prison.”

Blaska’s Bottom LineOur Constitution protects the right to peacefully protest and to peacefully parade. Our elected officials — hostage to progressive identity politics — failed to uphold the Constitution in Kenosha and Waukesha. POSTCRIPT: it seems just that a jury found three white defendants guilty of murdering Ahmaud Arbery.

Was Darrell Brooks’ mass murder a hate crime?

Yes it was. It was also an act of domestic terrorism.

If President Trump had another son, he be like hero Kyle Rittenhouse.

If the historic, but butt-nekkid Emperor “Let Them Eat Hope” Urkel, the First had a son, he’d be like Darrell Brooks.

Great post, Squire, and you collected & created great thoughts to ponder.

WSJ got it right. RE: Rittenhouse. As usual, today, locally, our Ms. Nada got it all wrong. “The Rittenhouse verdict sets a bad precedent… ” https://isthmus.com/opinion/the-new-colossus/will-political-violence-now-become-the-norm/ BTW, responses lately to her recent columns seem to point out some hypocrisy and over-use of buzz words. Can ya say, “Signalin’ ?

Maybe, just maybe, there IS a revolution starting, but NOT the one BLM supporter, ‘militant’ Vaun L. Mayes says, “parade killings might be beginning of ‘the revolution’ “. https://wset.com/news/nation-world/blm-activist-militant-says-parade-killings-might-be-beginning-of-the-revolution-waukesha-red-van-suv-black-lives-matter-christmas-wisconsin-darrell-brooks-vaun-mayes-facebook-live-kyle-rittenhouse

BTW, not sure Darrel was fleeing, is there confirming LEO commentary? Seems odd that he blew thru barricades and was not surprised by the enfolding scenario enough to take a side street, or stop. Instead, it’s alleged he swerved side-to-side to engage more parade-goers under his front bumper. I ask only B/C we know the MSM will use that “just trying to escape” dealie to mitigate the horror of his decisions that afternoon.

Agree -Justice prevails AGAIN: Travis McMichael, X 9 of 9 counts, Greg McMichael, X 8 of 9, and William Bryan, X 6 of 9, who were charged with murder, aggravated assault and false imprisonment.

Time to read the charging documents.
      Police attempted to stop him.
He ignored them and continued deliberately through the crowd.

What I THINK you’re trying to say is that despite the overwhelming evidence against Brooks, he deserves due process. Either that, or you’re being sarcastic.

One thing I will say is that our legal system should NEVER be held hostage by public opinion or rioters. In order for it to work, everyone should be subjected to the same rules and same level of scrutiny, regardless of identity or political beliefs. As we can see, that’s not always the case.

Any elected official, or police chief for that matter, who submits to the mob, is not a leader and should immediately resign. Anyone who subverts the legal system for personal gain should be held accountable as the law allows.

The prosecutor, corporate media, and leftist politicians put Kyle Rittenhouse through hell for (what I believe are), nefarious reasons. Anyone who uses someone in such a vicious way for career ambitions, politics, money, or what have you, is someone without a heart and a soul. Inhuman, really.

Sorry, “Dick”, thought I was replyin’ to your later post, gave it a “like” in error: You said, “but they are not using Rittenhouse as a pawn.” Obviously I retract the like, but also hafta wonder how Rittenhouse can be used as a pawn. The trial is over, justice has been served and only in YOUR outta-phase, moldy, grease-saturated brain could Kyle R. be used as a “pawn”. Best get back to writin’ detailed reviews for PornHub…

Yes, it was a hate crime.
I read all the posts Andy Ngo posted from Brooks’ social media before were scrubbed.
    They are full of hate.
Until someone proves to me that Ngo fabricates info (which I’ve never heard or seen) I believe he posted legitimate screen shots.
(Andy has no shortage of haters but they spout lots of garbage without proving he fabricates info)

If the driver had been white, the media hysteria would have gone on for weeks or months, well into 2022. Thanksgiving would probably have been canceled, and schools and universities wod have shut down to prepare for intensive “awareness sessions” to replace classes for the rest of the school year. Biden and Harris would’ve spent days in Waukesha in front of the cameras. Tony Evers would have probably actually left his living room to maybe say something. We’d have never heard the end of it.

We have lost our way. We no longer differentiate right from wrong. It used to be written on our hearts; the difference between right and wrong.

God gave us the way to differentiate right from wrong. His Son, Jesus, died on the cross to give us the difference between right and wrong.

Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell; lead all souls to Heaven especially those who are most in need of your mercy

Domine Iesu, dimitte nobis debita nostra, salva nos ab igne inferiori, perduc in caelum omnes animas, praesertim eas, quae misericordiae tuae maxime indigent.

To those who died in Waukesha, I can only pray that they are standing before our Lord, as spiritual beings, enveloped with His love, from this point on, forever.

Lamb of God / Agnus Dei:
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: grant us peace.

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccáta mundi, miserére nobis.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccáta mundi, miserére nobis.
Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccáta mundi, dona nobis pacem.

Amen I say to you my brothers and sisters in Christ. I can only hope that I will see you there on the other side.

Dave, can you clear something up? When we hear of a $1000 cash bail, does that actually mean they have to pony up just 10% ($100) or do they have to pay the entire amount?

There is no 10% bond available in Wisconsin. It is always the full amount cash. It’s why we have no Bail/Bondsmen here. It’s illegal.

Let me begin by saying that I have always believed that Hate Crime laws are an ingeniously stupid concept. It is just as bad to kill/maim/hurt a person, whether you did it for their money, did it to steal their car, or for their color, heritage or gender identity. The message is that it is better to beat somebody up for their cash, than it is to beat them up for being Black. On top of that you are asking a jury to determine, not what a person did, but rather what they were THINKING, when they did it. This from a system that couldn’t convict O.J. I do think some reasons are worse than others, but leave that to the judge to make that call.

Having said that, I predict two things. Number one is that this absolutely, without a doubt, qualifies as a hate crime. Number two is that he will not be charged with a hate crime.

    • patrickmoloughlin says:

Let my qualify that. In Dane County, NEVER. In Waukesha? Maybe, maybe not. It will still be charging a black man with a crime intended for straight, white men.
